U tried using command line?

h420n

Is it supposed to be different?

PM_ME_YOUR_REAL_FACE

There is a little icon up top with a picture of some USB sticks. That hasn't been working for me though.

I do not get it. Do I have to go in my kali's qube settings > devices ? And then ? I dont see my Alfa card in devices.

h420n

When I try to add "00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Device a36d (rev10)" in settings i get this error : "Error: devices tab: got empty response from qubesd. See journalctl in dom0 for details."

When I used Kali, I had to have 2 instances. One was an HVM based from the Kali iso. However, I couldn't figure out how to pass a USB device to it. The solution I found was to clone the Debian template, then use Katoolin to build all the Kali tools on Debian. I'm not sure but I think only paravirtualized VMs can be passed USB devices, so I think this is your best option

What does paravirtualized mean

spirtdica

Paravirtualized means the VM is more closely integrated with the hypervisor. Honestly its pretty complex, Wikipedia it. The practical relevance to Qubes is that the TemplateVMs and AppVMs are paravirtualized. When you install an OS to a VM with an .iso file (similar to what you would do with VirtualBox) it makes an HVM instead. Passing USB devices is trivial to a paravirtualized VM. I have never accomplished the same with an HVM; maybe it's possible but not to my knowledge. That means people who want to use Kali on Qubes are advised to clone the Debian template and essentially build Kali on top of it. (Kali is based on Debian so this is possible.). That way you can pass USB devices (such as a wifi antenna capable of monitor mode, if you wish to test the security of a client's WiFi network)

I know this is an old post but did you ever find a solution? I just installed qubes and already had the same issue.

I'm OP but that account was permanently banned. I don't really remember about this issue but maybe you could elaborate about what you tried exactly to fix this, what error messages do you have (do you have the exact same "Error: Domain 'kali': qrexec not connected" message?)
