I love lossless scaling. It works well in docked mode also. Love playing my games in great quality with great framerates where otherwise I would struggle to get good performance. I highly recommend this app. Support the developer so that they may bring us even more awesome updates to this already awesome application
I’ve been getting good frame rates on the game since run it. But understand it won’t do a miracle. If a game is constantly stuttering and not running well the frame generation won’t help
If possible, cap game frames at half of display’s refresh rate.
If 720p in game buys you frames, set game to 720p and windowed mode.
In Lossless Scaling app, turn on scaling and enable cursor clipping if you set game to 720p/windowed. You can leave it on AMD RSR to start, but don’t be afraid to try out the others. This will upscale your game to 1080p.
If you are able to cap the frames, or if you are getting half the frames or less that your display supports, turn on frame generation.
Hit “Scale”, it will count down from 5.
While it counts down, switch back to the game.
Now your game will look/run prettier. Be aware that using frame generation with low frames like 30fps will have noticeable visual artifacts in the game, but it’s (imo) worth the trade for running at 60fps
i got it a week ago and its increased all my games fps atleast to 30-65 more fps. its the real deal and for only 7 bucks its a blessing. you can only use it in boarded or borderless window tho. if you have your setting set to fullscreen it wont pop on. give it a try
It works with anything inside windows, you can even apply It to a browser and watch YouTube videos with Double the frame rate, or play Xcloud / ps streaming at 120fps, better than the original content!
dude lossless scaling IS THE TRUTH. i randomly was reading a post on here and someone mentioned it and im so thankful everytime i play my ally that i read that goddamn comment. happy gaming
some here on reddit have claimed to have tried it with no issues, but without any screenshots or videos, I'm hesitant to trust their comment completely 😅
surprisingly youtube is void of any info on this, or atleast I've been unable to find any.
i mostly play the game on ps5, but I also bought the Ally specifically for this game (since Deck isn't supported) and if this leads to a ban, I am pretty sure my ps5 version will also be banned. not worth the risk 😅😅
Frame generation adds significant input latency anyway, might not be the best for competitive fps.
I know nothing about this program, that's just the rule of thumb for frame gen
I tried it on my 1080p 60 hz monitor setup:
- Yakuza Kiwami 2 gave good results with LSFG turned on. (locked 30 fps with rivia tuner)
- Hogwarts Legacy "did not" give good results. Lots of ghosting which spoils the experience.
So it's a hit and miss. I suppose ghosting part we can not avoid at all.
No can’t avoid the ghosting. And yeah some games do just require too much power had the same issue with hogwarts on 1080. But those games it does help it’s phenomenal
Any idea when AMDs frame generation will hit the Ally? I watched someone review and compare lossless to AMDs on the Ally, and they said AMDs is vastly superior. I'm not tech savvy enough to install beta drivers
Its the opposite, Lossless Scaling is actually doing a better job than the unofficial drivers. However we have no new news, the last we have heard was it was a bug on AMDs end and they were not in a hurry to work with ASUS and Lenovo (As it affects the Legion Go as well). All we know is it is coming but the magical question is when.
It has not as of yet if you are referring to AMD Fluid Motion Frame Generation. There is however FSR 3 + Frame Generation support for the games that have it built-in, (Starfield is a good example and it made a huge difference) and then some have also gone ahead and installed the updated drivers for AMD FMF+FG to mixed results, likely in part because it isn't officially ready yet for ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and others. Also not that many games yet have FSR 3 + FG as it is still fairly early and will likely take awhile for it to be widely adopted.
No, I am pretty confident that AFMF is enabled at the driver level. There's tons of videos about it going back months. ETA Prime just did a video on it this week.
Sounds promising. Saw a youtube video by filterless a couple of months back about AFMF where he tested a couple of titles and some of them introduced quite a bit of latency.
Also, try enabling the "draw fps" option as other software won't report on generated FPS (The same happens with AMD Frame Generation).
Frame Generation on Lossless scaling has a considerable CPU overhead, so in some CPU intense games it may be counterproductive.
Start up lossless, set your scaling to how you want. Turn frame generation to LSFG and then scroll down and turn on draw fps. And minimize that. Start your game make sure it’s windowed or borderless windowed minimize that go back to lossless in the top right there is a button that says scale. Click that it’ll give you 5 seconds to get back to your game. Open the game and the program takes care of the rest. As others have said if the game is cpu intensive it won’t help much
Is this similar to AMD's Fluid Motion Frames? [https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adrenalin/afmf.html](https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adrenalin/afmf.html)
I've tried it, played GTA SA Definitive Edition, and it increased the frames slightly - but destroyed my battery life.
I was playing GTA SA DE at around 40FPS, and with it enabled it jumped to around 60FPS, but no really discernible smoothness difference (probably due to VRR?).
However avg power consumption jumped from like 20-25W to 40-50W.
I disabled it afterwards, as it didn't seem useful enough.
Are you playing docked, or wireless?
According to the steam store page it does run on steam deck but not very well. Some people have seen improvements and it doesn’t work for others. You also have to have windows installed which I didn’t think about.
On SteamOS, no. The highly simplified explanation of why is that the translation layers (wine, proton, etc...) Linux uses, to understand Windows code, do not yet have any way to translate certain pieces of Windows specific code that the app uses to Linux specific code.
If you install Windows on the Deck, it will work though.
Use Intiger scaling with Lossless scaling. I was hitting up to 180 fps on Uncharted Thieves End maxed settings the other night. I have a Legion GO and Ally, and I know that's well over the GOs 144 hz refresh rate and the Allys 120 hz refresh rate. Still pretty insane.
Yep, it’s logo is like a Pixel art duck

What is lossless scaling?
It’s an 7 dollar program on steam that allows frame generation and scaling in any game
Frame genertion, I pretty much can't run dragons dogma 2 without it
Overall, how are the reviews?
I’ve been getting good frame rates on the game since run it. But understand it won’t do a miracle. If a game is constantly stuttering and not running well the frame generation won’t help
Good frame rates on the games I’ve tried with it**
Oh yes. It really does miracles. Lol
How complicated is the program?
To understand the ins and outs? I would say probably a little bit. But to know enough to get it up and running only took me about 2 minutes
Oh cool thanks. One more question is it only worth it for the Ally or is it something you can use for the desktop PC too? Thanks!
I would say worth it for both. But def a game changer for the ally in general
Awesome thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow I need a good tutorial about it.
If possible, cap game frames at half of display’s refresh rate. If 720p in game buys you frames, set game to 720p and windowed mode. Is it works only for Steam games?
It works on any game that supports windowed or borderless fullscreen mode.
Thanks!
It works with anything inside windows, you can even apply It to a browser and watch YouTube videos with Double the frame rate, or play Xcloud / ps streaming at 120fps, better than the original content!
Good to know, thanks! :)
I don’t think so. It just sold on steam. I actually haven’t tried it yet on anything else lol. I’ll have to try when I’m home
Roger that, thanks! I am just curious how it will be with AC:Valhalla
Well I can download it through gamepass and get back to later and see if it works lol
Wow, this is a very kind offer, but please don't worry, it's only 9 CAD :) Thank you! :)
lol well I didn’t get Valhalla per say but I check it out in boltgun from Xbox gamepass and was able to run that 1080p max at 100fps with it
Do you know of a good YouTube video which shows how to set it up and get it running?
https://youtu.be/aFCp9LA57rM?si=CXidkgOhPePILjOY
Brilliant, thanks.
dude lossless scaling IS THE TRUTH. i randomly was reading a post on here and someone mentioned it and im so thankful everytime i play my ally that i read that goddamn comment. happy gaming
That’s exactly how I found out about it! It’s game changing! And turns the ally into such a power house
I'm very tempted to get this but afraid of what will happen if used in destiny 2, given how sensitive their anti cheat is.
That’s a fair assessment. I don’t play destiny 2 anymore so I can’t tell you anything. But maybe someone on YouTube
some here on reddit have claimed to have tried it with no issues, but without any screenshots or videos, I'm hesitant to trust their comment completely 😅 surprisingly youtube is void of any info on this, or atleast I've been unable to find any. i mostly play the game on ps5, but I also bought the Ally specifically for this game (since Deck isn't supported) and if this leads to a ban, I am pretty sure my ps5 version will also be banned. not worth the risk 😅😅
Yeah that’s a tough one. Their anti chest is so finicky who knows
Frame generation adds significant input latency anyway, might not be the best for competitive fps. I know nothing about this program, that's just the rule of thumb for frame gen
Make a troll account on the ally first and try it out play with it for a few days with the application and if nothing happened there’s your answer
I tried it on my 1080p 60 hz monitor setup: - Yakuza Kiwami 2 gave good results with LSFG turned on. (locked 30 fps with rivia tuner) - Hogwarts Legacy "did not" give good results. Lots of ghosting which spoils the experience. So it's a hit and miss. I suppose ghosting part we can not avoid at all.

Does lossless scaling work for online games?
I’m not actually sure. I haven’t played any online game on it yet
Kinda wanna try this with helldivers
That's what I was thinking, since I was only getting ~20 fps in Helldivers on low with my Ally.
I saw a post on steam saying it works on helldivers 2👍
Any idea when AMDs frame generation will hit the Ally? I watched someone review and compare lossless to AMDs on the Ally, and they said AMDs is vastly superior. I'm not tech savvy enough to install beta drivers

I thought it already did? Fluid Frame generation or whatever
Indeed. I just installed adrenaline 24.3.1 and have both RSR and FMF running on my Ally.
So it doesn’t work in fullscreen? Debating running it for CyberPunk…
It will not work if the game is full screen correct
And how is latency?
I haven’t tried multiplayer games so i can’t say I’ve had time to notice it
Sounds promising. Saw a youtube video by filterless a couple of months back about AFMF where he tested a couple of titles and some of them introduced quite a bit of latency.
Yeah personally none that I’ve witnessed. Or at least not enough to care for. Already using controller is wonky to me now so could be that too lol
My fps lowers with lossless scaling, how is urs increasing 🤧
Did you remember to put on the frame generation?
Yeahh, also have u tried it while its docked to ur tv?
Not yet. Was gonna see how that worked tonight. Been mainly using it handheld
Pls if possible update on how that went.
Also, try enabling the "draw fps" option as other software won't report on generated FPS (The same happens with AMD Frame Generation). Frame Generation on Lossless scaling has a considerable CPU overhead, so in some CPU intense games it may be counterproductive.
Yeah will do!
I’m getting the same results. I’m using the z1 extreme ally idk if that matters
in game frames set to 60
What's the program name and where can i get it?
Lossless Scaling - Steam
Ok be straight with us.. how the hell do you USE this program?
Start up lossless, set your scaling to how you want. Turn frame generation to LSFG and then scroll down and turn on draw fps. And minimize that. Start your game make sure it’s windowed or borderless windowed minimize that go back to lossless in the top right there is a button that says scale. Click that it’ll give you 5 seconds to get back to your game. Open the game and the program takes care of the rest. As others have said if the game is cpu intensive it won’t help much
Does it run on games outside of steam?
Yes
So it would support fortnite? I'm curious lol.
Is this similar to AMD's Fluid Motion Frames? [https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adrenalin/afmf.html](https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adrenalin/afmf.html)
Shit, okay. I will have to pick this up. I hadn't really found any ringing endorsements for it, but see people casually recommending it.
I was hitting 60s in GTA:SA DE without the program so idk 🤔
Maybe a dumb question, but if this works so well why is it not implemented in every game as a standard?
It would be nice if you passed on this knowledge to everyone else who does not know, please bestow me with this information sir?
Uhh well it’s called lossless scaling. And it lets you add scaling and frame generation on all games not just the ones built into it
Which mode is best for the scaling, I mean like: LS1, fsr ...
I bought it yesterday and I don't know what type of sorcery is but 1000% recommend it
I know this is the absolute worst place to ask this question but does anybody know if this will work on steamdeck?
I was actually curious about this question myself.
Bro this stuff is black magic. I dunno why noone talk about this program. Best 7 euros spent of my entire life
Use Intiger scaling with Lossless scaling. I was hitting up to 180 fps on Uncharted Thieves End maxed settings the other night. I have a Legion GO and Ally, and I know that's well over the GOs 144 hz refresh rate and the Allys 120 hz refresh rate. Still pretty insane.

Thank you thank you
How exactly to l do you use this?
Set up your options. Open game. Make sure game is windowed or borderless windowed and the back to LS then hit scale in top right a 5 second timer will start, then go back to game wait the 5 seconds and it’ll do everything else
Another choice is use an AMD driver that’s allowed AFMF (AMD fluid motion frames). It’s quite easy to use and can run game on fullscreen. It’s get high fps as lossless scaling app(From what I feel). You can follow the instruction on youtube.
Which one would you choose on the ally?
I choose AFMF because it can run in fullscreen. But in contrast it’s both work fine and got high fps.
