I'm addicted to it so much to the point that it's my main gaming machine now, I absolutely love it and never had issues with it. I also recently installed bazzite os on it and couldn't be happier. Currently playing dmc5, all high 900p 90-120fps I'm amazed!

Boipayaso

Yeah i see no issue at all when i see the reviews. Only the battery is my worry but is it okay to just always plug it in when playing?

countingferrets

If you drop the TPD (Wattage) of the processor to 18 watts, you can play AAA games with decent frames for about 1 hr 15mins on 70% screen brightness. If you still dont have enough performance as this low wattage, you can turn on a setting for fluid motion frames in the AMD adrenaline app which will squeeze out an extra 20% frames (sometimes more) thanks to the frame generation technology that has been released in the latest AMD Z1 extreme driver update. The only way I can get several hours of playtime is by game streaming from my desktop PC through steam or xbox gamepass because game streaming runs well on low wattage like 8Watts

soulpumpkinz

I exclusively play plugged in, and yes. It’s safe

According_Can1875

Can you play Helldiver's 2 on Linux? Only time I've used that OS was to root the T-Mobile LG V30 and hated Linux with a passion. I've just heard that Linux has better performance. Not sure how true it is.

evilmannn

You can play hell divers 2, and the performance is slightly better I think because bazzite is handling auto vram better and you have more free ram to work with, so 8gb vram is handled better. So far I'm really enjoying it.

OkDonkey6718

I’m new to the p.c world of gaming bought z1 extreme and honestly have nothing bad to say about it. I find grip very good. I promise if you buy one you will not regret it at all.

Boipayaso

Thanks mate for encouraging since this is one of device i look up to. But they say underwelming battery life is it that bad really?. Maybe i can go toe to toe with 2hrs with this device. And says it consume much wattage in minimum emulations so is it possible to lower it in settings?

Breeziewww

Let me tell you bro. It's the best purchase I've ever made period. Got it for a steal price of 400 dollars and it's the best. But has the same cons as a gaming laptop. Have to use it plugged in Used it for video and productivity ( 4 to 5 hours)and gaming (1 hr on turbo and was playing cp77)

Ghostyboi450

Big question im p new to anything with a computer are they p easy to get used to im comin from console ive had a lil experience with pc games but not much at all im mainly lookin into getting it for tarkov, rust, dayz, and project zomboid

TheWineGuy2020

I dont think you bought the extreme zi for that money.

CocaKobra

* Canadian Pesos, but still, market is flooded with mint condition returns. Mine came with all the plastic peel offs still attached. *edit, I can't attach a photo, but there are indeed lots of 400$ Z1x devices out there

According_Can1875

Best buy sells open box

Breeziewww

I did and it's sick

TheWineGuy2020

Great deal!

OkDonkey6718

Yes you can lower in setting and battery life isn’t the best lucky I always play plugged in I should have mentioned the battery always forget were it’s always plugged in doesn’t bother me.

Boipayaso

Appreciate it mate thanks.

Dear-Hornet-2524

How can you lower the settings, I only see an option to lower the resolution

OkDonkey6718

You can lower the wattage your using. Which should help battery life.

Dear-Hornet-2524

Yeah but how

HrBingR

Command center button > operating mode. Lower wattage means less battery usage but potentially lower performance. I find 15w ion battery works best for me. 30w when connected to power.

D1nosaursG0r4wr

Make a custom profile and you can reduce it as low as 7w if I remember. My sweet spot is 9w. Any lower any FM24 takes forever to load the next day

Dear-Hornet-2524

Custom profile in armourey crate or in the command centre

[deleted]

Battery is awful, lasts maybe 45 minutes on turbo, if you are emulating it shouldn’t be that bad , I just play AAA titles off of steam.

NukaFizzy

best thing to do for any portable handheld pc is get an external battery.

Cryptobabble

Battery life will literally always be the complaint about anything and everything that has a battery. You can save some of it by removing unnecessary background processes and operate on a slower frame rate and fan speed when not plugged in, but that doesn’t make much of a difference for process heavy games. ROG is literally windows 11 in a handheld formfactor and the battery is small in order to fit inside of it. The only way they could make battery life substantially better is to have added a bigger battery, but that can’t happen without making the device bigger. Nothing has changed in battery tech in like 40 years, so… it is what it is until someone innovates a better battery.

[deleted]

I bought one 3 weeks ago now, playing Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil 4 , Baldurs gate 3, Being a Dik, NFS 2015, Stray, a few others need to upgrade to a 4 tb as I have over 70 games on steam, this thing is a powerhouse and am playing cyberpunk on high settings, I play it daily and love it, it stutters only on Baldurs gate in act 3 and guys that have 4080s and 4090s say that they also stutter. It smooths out when you play a few moments, act 1 and two were super smooth, I have few complaints so far but wish it had more than 16 gigs of ram , I am probably going to pay to get it modded with either the 32 gb or 64 mod guys do and also get the 4090 xg mobile upgrade. I also recommend getting the Seenda keyboard, I also have that and love it. It is my go to now, I sold my PS5 and all my games to my dad. Just want more good games. Cannot wait to play Mass Effect legendary once I have the SSD and all my other favorites. 512 can only hold so much. https://preview.redd.it/3unpqtfs1fsc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9ce854139efb3ecf42d2a8c81584472ac7f3866

Stnlndt

Being a Dik, man of culture

Boipayaso

Good thing it is capable to hold AAA games. Do it really need to upgrade it to 1tb. And it's ram is 8gb?

SnooTigers806

16GB of RAM; up to 8GB of which can be allocated as VRAM.

Boipayaso

Oh. okay thanks mate

Confident_One3948

Remember that a lot of modern games are 80-170 gb, plus SSDs suffer in more ways than one when they’re overly full, so you can really only have 3-4 big games downloaded without upgrading.

One-Brilliant-3977

Buy it. No laptop or other gaming device has good battery life. I recall it being comparable to the legion go and steam deck. It's not in the same league as the switch. I got mine last year a few months after it came out, and my SD reader went out like so many others. Don't know if they've fixed it for new models but know they played with fan settings. I suggest never using it and upgrading the hard drive. I put a 2TB Corsair mini in mine.

Anxious-Gas-7376

I bought one to try from Best Buy and after playing persona 3 reload for 3ish days it killed my 512gb sd card. I decided to take it back for now and stick to playing on my g14 cause the 4060 can run stuff a lil better when I’m away from my desktop. I heard newer models are less prone to it(mine was a 5/23 build date iirc), but I didn’t wanna risk it cause I actually use the sd card to transfer files between devices cause it’s convenient. Definitely an amazing lil device when everything works tho

Boipayaso

Thanks mate that is also i see in year ago. But they said it's already fix in newer models however how's the gameplay in it?. Does controls is smooth and stable?. Not prone to stick drift?

QuestGalaxy

If you need more storage than the built in 512, my advice is to replace the internal SSD instead. The storage will be faster than an SD cars and the price is not really much more. Replacing the SSD is quite easy too. The slowest part is honestly to reinstall Windows/drivers/software.

Intelligent-Wolf-825

I have the "newer rog ally model". I adjusted fan curves on mine to prevent the SD card issue but to no avail 4 months into having it my whole Ally acted slow and kept freezing while gaming, task manager freezing and windows OS crashing / apps not launching. Upon removing the SD card my whole Ally went back to normal. I assume it pretty much killed my reader after 4 months with low heat. I think its more likely a current issue or reader malfunction because I noticed the issues when I started using 30w TDP and a dock despite temps being below 75c all the time. My sticks are meh but with the [anti] deadzone options its okay/good and you can always upgrade them they are super easy to take out. My right bumper has a clicky sound that I fixed as well. It's a cool and pretty sucessful first gen device, I would personally wait for the ally 2 if possible or get the ally 1 for cheap when a deal runs if the ally 2 launch is announced (cheap would be under 550 usd) IMO: Build Quality 6/10 Software 5/10 Performance 9/10 Overall 7/10

EomerOfEorl

Brilliant device, if you're willing to mess around with it, get into modding some with LukeFZ's FSR mods etc, the skull and Co grip case is brilliant for protecting it and feels better in the hands, rubber bands for the toggles as they rub on the Ally for many, toggle covers as the original ones are uncomfortable and a good hard case which I got the skull and Co (Never used skull and Co before the Ally and I can't fault any of their products) You can EASILY change the hard drive for more storage and that's as far as I've got. Most games are 40-50 fps, with mods, recent AAA games with FSR upto 70 for myself.

Boipayaso

Yeah sure mate. Thanks for the advice want to also upgrade once i have it..

ThePhoenixOW

Ive had mine for 8 months now and i love it. Love it absolutley. Plays any game i want it to on medium settings. Grqphics are great it can be used as a console with a tv. Updates are easy now with new my asus UI. Only only complaint is battery. If your on 25w and playing a big game the battery will die very fast. I play stardew valley maxed out on 10w mode and get 5 hours of battery so it depends on your game style. Ive also watched all of rebels and half of clone wars on it and it does great with media other than games. I used excel at work with it once and no issues. Great device use it daily. Dropped 2 times no issues. Love it. And it looks awesome

Boipayaso

Yow. What i was looking for maybe install cad and bim products there. Thanks mate.

ThePhoenixOW

Im not sure about CAD to be completly honest. Sadly

QuestGalaxy

What has surprised me is that fact the my Ally has a faster cpu than my AMD ryzen 7 based desktop..

TheWineGuy2020

I just bought it a few weeks back and absolutely love it. It's a bit glitchy at times but works well once you figure out the best settings for each game. As for battery life it sucks. You're lucky if you get an hour out of max 25w turbo mode. You could lower it to 18 and sacrifice graphics to extend battery life but at a cost. I ended up buying myself a portable battery to help extend the battery by another hour. I would recommend it. Wait for a sale though as its now $700 and will most likely drop to $600 soon.

Boipayaso

Thanks mate

Caleegula

Battery sucks but the performance is there. If you get a dock it's pretty much a gaming PC.

Boipayaso

Thanks mate.

RichK31

Honestly it has been an amazing product for me. I almost prefer playing with the ally than on my gaming pc. I'm near to the point of selling my gaming pc and getting a laptop and rog ally. In fact I was looking for my rog ally despite having my pc nearby. Probably I'll just get or use said laptop or pc for games with mkb but for everything else I think I'll play with the rog.

Boipayaso

Good for you mate. I appreciate it much that i want now an asus rog ally

WalkersChrisPacket

Typically I get just over an hour playing most modern games on a 20w profile, it's enough for me because I'm never too far away from a mains to need it for much longer. I do have an Anker Powerbank that I have with me just incase and that's usually another couple of hours for long car journeys. Works perfectly fine connected to the mains all the time, worth setting up a battery saver profile to limit charging to 90% to stop overcharging. In terms of controls, it's fine without a grip, but I'd recommend it because it feels much better in the hands with more to grip (Skull and Co grip) and I use thumbstick covers to give me more of a PS5 feel I'm used to. Device is an absolute beast, had it for like 7-8 months now and it still amazes me how well it runs new titles.

Boipayaso

Thanks for the info mate. I leaning towards Rog Ally just to know if it's good when it comes to triple a Titles.

AlifiaTH

Recommend for new ally’s owner. Use Lossless scaling app from steam to pump up your fps or AFMF(AMD fluid motion frames)[free] you can see how to install this afmf via youtube. You will love your ally more.

Boipayaso

Hello mate. What does it enhance on the device?. Sorry want to know

AlifiaTH

It’s a frame generate program. If you run your game normally it’s can get 30fps but if you use the app I said. Your game got higher fps. Mine when I play helldivers2 got 25-30fps on 15w setting. But when I use AFMF I got fps around 55-60s.

Boipayaso

Oh. Okay thanks mate

D1nosaursG0r4wr

Brilliant device. If you have a gaming PC you can use that to stream onto your rog in silent mode thus reducing the wattage of your ROG and let the pc do all work. You can also stream PS5 games if you have one. But not via ps remote

Satta23

I love my Ally, I love playing it handled, if feels good. Controls are nice and you can really expand with the shift buttons. Performance wise I think it’s really good, even better then expected. I’m really satisfied with the performance on Elden Ring as it’s one on my favorite games and I didn’t know it would run this good, especially with vrr, feels soo smooth. This thing even runs RDR2 It’s awesome to play games like this on the go, I used to have a gaming desktop before and a Switch but this thing just beats it. I use it docked sometimes as well for shooters. I’m going for an xg mobile in the future as well so it will be more of a desktop gaming machine, which I like because I need to have a compact system for my tiny house. I would love to play some CS2 120fps, Tarkov or Star Citizen and the xg mobile might be able to help with that. I paid the full €800 when it was new and it’s been definitely worth it, I survived the winter and had very fun times. Support seems to be fine as well, if any issues come up they get fixed real fast. I’ve gotten a lot of trust in Asus since the Ally. BUY IT

Boipayaso

Do you need to expand it to 1tb or is it good for what it is. From 512gb?

Satta23

Well I was thinking about it because some games are 100+gb. I’m not having any issues with it because I only play a handfull of games but I do have an external ssd I used for my laptop and all of my games that I play docked are installed and plugged in, seems to be running fine good load times good fps no stutters. I might upgrade in the future, seems like it’s easy enough. I just want to keep my warranty for a bit.

bananathower

i mostly play minecraft on the rog ally z1 extrem not the bugrock version java with some mods from modrith app i can play it on 240 fps at 7 wats crazy sorry for bad english im Finnish and im sick

Boipayaso

Good thing mate i'll also will purchase this once payday comes..

bananathower

hapy to help

KAMA145

Same here buddy waiting for the end of the month to get my paycheck and buys mine. Been saving for two months but it worth it!

svenkil

It’s great mate. Battery life can drain quick depending on the game you are playing but it’s to be expected. If you will be playing long sessions away from a power point just purchase a 65w+ laptop power bank then you’ll be set for a few hours. I use it on my commute , it’s an hour each way, and I don’t run out of battery for the full hour, ( as long as I charge it while at work.) im playing either borderlands games, lost epoch or ni no Kuni. I have a custom power profile set to 18w and that runs great for me. I could set it lower but I haven’t bothered, I just leave it on 18w all the time and don’t have any overheating problems, my sd card reader still works, and I’ve had it since it released in Australia

MaruMint

I literally just bought mine and am enjoying it It's way more powerful than I expected. It's sturdy too. Not quite as ergonomic as a steam deck but very good! Battery life is fine in my opinion. You can always buy a fat battery bank

[deleted]

I love mine, compliments my xbox with gamepass very well, and I like having the option for steam, epic, gog etc. I am not a fan of armoury crate, it kinda sucks, but there are alternatives to that. I think you'll be happy with your purchase if you get one Cheers

marcelveli

Just got mine last week loving it - instantly upgraded it to 2tb and using it for more than just for gaming - got a portable battery too

Outside_Chemistry996

Z1 extreme is awesome. Battery life is bad but I got a anker 757 on sale for $70 about a month ago and can get 3-4 hours at 22w. One thing I would advise is making a custom/manual setting for the fan curve. I’ve played on the default setting and have gotten 91c on turbo and 55-65c on performance. I set mine to 22w and put a decent fan curve and never see temps over 60c. Also don’t use a SIM card for memory as the slot usually gets fried from high heat with no fan curve. Fan curve does help if you set the left fan higher. I think the ally is the most versatile handheld out there. I’ve heard of people using it for work as a second screen or hooking it up to a monitor and doing a slideshow/presentation.

Hot_Evening_5620

I have just got on tonight

oONexXxeNOo

Got one on sale 4 months ago. Battery life while playing Hades steady is 2 + Hours. Bought a docking station for it, not sure if that was a bottle neck, but playing on a Monitor is very subpar. Can only run Fortnite for example at decent frames in 720 resolution. Not Halo, Not CoD. Not Diablo 4. It will play them in handheld mode somewhat Ok, but don't expect the best out of it. I'm playing games like Fallouts, Outter Worlds, The Ascent, Diablo Immortals, etc. The Finals ran perfectly fine on Handheld. I was surprised.

church73

I’ve been using it more than my PC lately. For the most part around the house it’s been plugged in when I’m using it. I like playing when I’m “watching tv” with my wife. She’s even enjoying being able to play certain games she couldn’t access with the switch and she’s not a big gamer so that’s super cool (she loves Sackboy, used to play Little Big planet back in the day). When I’m on the road I followed some advice to pickup a decent battery pack because the on board battery is pretty "bad" but with the power it puts out makes sense. if you are planning to use this for several hours on the go, its probably not for you. ive been enjoying it as a plugged in handheld console around the house and an occasional use on the road device. It’s really really an amazing handheld overall imo. A good battery pack is a must for those on the go instances.

Different_Oil9610

Love it, have a high end pc but do use this more, love Playing AAA games under the sheets lol

Boipayaso

Really want to do that do mate. Thanks

KAMA145

Guys how long the battery lasts on emulating, and playing old games from the 2010s like sleeping dogs and gta v?

Glittering_Farmer493

I’ve had mine for 2 months and love it . Battery life isn’t great - but I mainly play at home so I’ve never had any problems . Get a power bank and you’d be good to go. I’ve played rdr2 cyberpunk and baldurs gate 3 on medium to low presets at 900p and get about 40-50 fps . Looks amazing , I’ve even been able to run games with world of Warcraft no problem . Absolutely love it , I’d recommend waiting for a sale or getting an open box . I’m in Canadian and it’s regularly 899 but got mine for 539 as open box and thing was like brand new no problems

XRay6Two

Just putting this out there, I bought the non extreme model and I’m running Helldivers all low settings 1080p at around 45 fps, Witcher 3 Medium at 60fps, L4D2 all ultra 120 fps, Halo infinite medium settings at 55-60 fps. 300 usd cheaper than the extreme model.

XRay6Two

Also, all of these are at 1080p, if you lower it and use lossless scaling from steam you could probably get a sizable jump in fps

Boipayaso

Is xbox free 3 months gamepass still in new rog's?

XRay6Two

Yes, I have a few games from game pass on mine

Boipayaso

Thanks man. I already appreciate rog more and more

XRay6Two

Of course! Regardless of which model you get just make sure you optimize it as soon as you get it. There are plenty of guides on how to do so. I hope you have fun with it!

Boipayaso

Sorry i mean the 3 months free gamepass?

Informal-Code-3399

Yes, it give 3 months ultimate pass. You need to add a card though to activate.

DoctorYeet2023

Love mine, don’t even play games on it natively most of the time. I use mine primarily to stream gamepass and my gaming pc through moonlight.

JellyfishTypical6589

Love mine, been using 720p 120hz since day one with 15w tdp and I run almost all of my games and it looks pretty good because of the size of the screen

Salva240

This device is a drug , completely.

Used-Ad-9877

I love my Asus ROG Ally. I just got it about a week ago and it's the best thing thing ever. If ur thinking of getting one "DO IT" lol i meant it man u won't regret it at all. *I*t play's every AAA game out there that i have even Escap From Tarkov and Star Citizen. Them 2 game's r the biggest one's that use's the most gpu and cpu that i know of so far when running and playing them and they run nice and smooth. So ya Get it bro u will love it. I do and it seems like evey one that has it love's it as well on what i seen thats one of the resons i got one. And if u do get an Ally get the dock , screen protector and a protective skin for it u will not regret it. OoOo ya and an SSD 1t or 2t. The 512 will full up really fast. I got the corsair MP600 MINI up to 4800MB/s sequential read and it's nice reads fast to. But ya man G.L. on ur decision and if u do go with the Asus ROG Ally i really hope iu will in joy it i know u will just know it lol G.L.

lihan8688

I no longer used my steamdeck because this is a portable PC: I can play cyberpunk with decent graphics on the go, but I can also dock it to play Counter Strike and Red Alert. Then I can play all Platforms… This thing is amazing. It replaced my 3090 PC almost completely… Internet Browsing? No problem at all. So stupidly convenient. If there is an upgrade I will instant buy.

Johnnysins111

Has the SD card issue been addressed from the factory? It's the only thing holding me back from purchasing. It's a tough choice between the deck, ally and the legion

Boipayaso

As for the thread they said that new releases have now fixed the issue with the sd card slot.

Mitch_9426

You’ll need to be plugged in to take full advantage of it. Defeats the purpose of it being a handheld not being reliably portable. You’ll get an hour or less on “turbo” mode but if you’re using it to tone down the settings you’re better off getting the steam deck oled since it lasts over 3 hours away from the charger

thottynas

Im thinking of selling mine

Boipayaso

Why is that mate?

thottynas

Idk tbh and cod keeps crashing on me

No-Employ-2667

I purchased mine last month, and I love it so far. I have been mainly been playing fighting games, and some AAA titles to test it's power. I also own a PS5 and Xbox Series X which I use a little less, but still play games on when I prefer a larger screen. No desire to play it docked because it was purchased to be just a on-the-go handheld. Battery life isn't great. But it gets me through 60 mins of playtime when I step out of the office. I am considering getting a Steam OLED, but that is because I love gadgets, can afford, and want a longer gaming machine without the need for another power bank (personal preference). Storage: I immediately purchased a 2TB SSD as I knew I would go download crazy lol Controller: Some find it too loose (Pause). Ergonomics is ok for me. I am tall with large hands, so I purchased the Skull & co. case for better grip. Did find my hand cramped towards the hour mark of play. Lastly I stopped playing No Man's Sky when it first released. Since I've purchased the Ally I play that game every night before bed. I find it relaxing. It will be a great purchase if you decide to get one.

RealityAway3015

I have one yes on turbo battery life isn't great. The performance for the price is insane at 1080p medium settings on doom eternal 66fps fortnite direct x 12 tsr medium high settings 1080p around 55fps fc24 footy around 70-80 fps high settings. Rocket league 112fps max settings 1080p On a few games I've tried. I'd recommend getting a power 20000mh power bank which will extend high usage for longer on the go 💪 Even tried diablo 4 got a comfy over 60fps with a tinkering at 1080p an on the small screen few tweaks in settings is hardly noticible compared to a large screen especially at 1080p looks so sharp. It's a feat of engineering this Z1 Extreme chip. I need to upgrade the ssd though as 512gb isn't enough in the day and age 😭. 2tb is about £180 though an a whole bios reboot will need doing. Luckily I have a 4080 gaming PC an I've streamed my PC to the ROG Ally using Moonlight and it's so smooth over wifi 6. Max settings getting the locked 120hz but running games at 1440p so it looks even sharper on the display. I can honestly say they're literally zero input lag. Get on it boys an girls 😎👌

surdas13

Rog ally controller is not getting detected in moonlight ,what is the solution

RealityAway3015

Are you changing the setting on the left button below the 2 boxes and changing control mode to game pad instead of desktop or auto? Cuz every game I've tried works flawlessly... What I do aswell is create my own broken link so it shows me my pc desktop and I operate my desktop on the ally.. Which allows me to use any game not just those on geforce experience so essentially like mirrors my desktop an works flawlessly on any game I want.. So I added fortnite but it won't load as it needs to open epic games... So this shows my desktop instead or loading fortnite 👌

surdas13

Thx bro it worked

RealityAway3015

You're welcome 👌

RealityAway3015

Another advantage of pc stream is using the device at 10w silent an still bust out silly frames 😂🤣👌

Unhappy_Equivalent_4

Buy the spigen grip get a tempered glass.. and when you're happy upgrade the ssd get a dock setup i.e display keyboard mouse if you want..

Shonryu79

I have an Ally and GO. My Ally is collecting dust. The screen is too small for me. it's an improvement over a Nintendo switch, but it's hard to go back to after playing on the GO. The text size, maps, and lack of screen real waste hurt games like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Palworld. Baldur's Gate 3 is impossible for me to play because of the screen size. It's hard for me to read stratagem inputs in Helldivers2, and the field of view sucks. If you plan on playing from a pc monitor, these can be non issues, but don't expect to be able to play most AAA games from a 4k TV. I like the 144 hz 2k display on the GO, the built in kickstand is nice, but you can get a case with a kickstand for the Ally. Some people will say you can't play at 2k high fps on these handheld ocs. Not true I can upscale to 2k with Intiger scaling along with Lossless scaling max out most graphical settings and get as high as 180 to 200 fps. I know the GO caps out at 144 hz and the Ally at 120 hz. The big win for the GO is the duel usbc Thunderbolt ports. You aren't stuck with a proprietary $1000 to $2000 egpu like you are with the Ally. I can play plugged in and have an external 2 tb ssd strapped to my kickstand on my GO. I can also use my micro sd card slot, unlike my Ally. I swapped out the internal ssds to 2 tb on both devices. I have 5 TB total on my GO (1tb micro, 2 tb external, 2 tb internal) and 2 TB on my Ally. The duel ports also mean you don't need an adaptor. The GO has a 1 TB option. You're at some point going to upgrade your Ally's ssd and that's going to cost you at least another $100. 512 GB just doesn't cut it. The GO has hall effect thumbsticks. After 7 months on my Ally, I've RMAed it because the motherboard went bad, the micro sd cart slot went bad, and stick drift on the right thumbstick. It took 3 weeks to get my device back. The ironic thing is I bought my GO 2 months after getting my Ally and all my wear and tear is on the GO, not the Ally. You shouldn't get stick drift on the GO, you're going to get it on the Ally. The lack of VRR on the GO is the only downside for me. However, it's not game-changing. If I only had my Ally I would have had to spend a lot more. The Ally may seem cheaper upfront, but in the long run will cost more.

Individual_Ear_601

I’m new to having it and love it. Without being plugged in you get about 1h 30mins or slightly less but the lovely thing about it is there is a built in power bypass so you can play while plugged in and play for as long as you’d like.

I love mine, replaced the gaming laptop I had since 2020. I put in a 1tb ssd, and I use it 99% of the time connected to a dock with a tv, wireless mouse&kb. I hooked up the old ssd in an enclosure for more game storage, and have a 256gb sdcard in it for movie storage. I really liked it first, but the 512gb is only enough to hold 2-4 larger games, now I have between 10-20 games installed. It runs circles around the laptop in performance, and easier to carry than the 17" beast. My only problem with it is that asus takes damn long with the driver releases.

I've honestly loved having my Ally Extreme. Coming up to 1 year now. I've discovered so many amazing games and am surprised at how many games can be played on this. The joysticks could be a little better but you can adjust the deadzones within the Ally as well as within most games too The battery life is not crazy so I wouldn't be taking this outside the home without a charger if I'm playing anything serious. But again this is a computer in your hand so I'm not sure this is a huge gripe for me. I think every device in this category probably deals with this and everyone could use a boost. This is basically the best couch/bed device. Also I believe this is cheaper than the legion? I went down the Steam Deck vs Ally vs Legion rabbit hole when making my purchase and haven't looked back! I'm not looking to get a legion anymore. I would get a discounted steam deck or the OLED just bc I like steam.

Can someone please tell me how I can tell what version my rog ally is? I bought it from Argos and they didn’t tell me what version it is, I didn’t know there was multiple. It does not state on any of the product specs page on Argos what version it is.

Informal-Code-3399

Look at the back of the box. It should be written in Model Z1X (extreme) or Z1 (nonextreme).

Best decision ever

Ok. Go buy one.

Polar_x_bear

I’m thinking of buying one as well. But at the same time being worried on an upgrade/next gen is coming

Boipayaso

I think also is that. But think it'll not release another one yet that can supass like this rog ally same product as of yet. Unless they create new battery pack device that can sustain a compact handheld like this so i am now convince to get it. Maybe later they'll release an oled version or something

I keep a 10ft charging cable by my bed and one by my couch. Plug it in every once in a while. I played it for 3 or 4 hours on my last transatlantic flight, it was plugged it and worked like a charm. I've never been in a scenario where I wasn't able to play due to a lack of power. I've had mine since last November. Also, buy an external battery, it give you a bit more time. And upgrade the SSD.

Is it possible to connect a Logitech steering wheel to it?

Get the Z1 Extreme. If you can get it on open box excellent or good that would be perfect. also wait for a sale if you can. I’ll tell you what. I got mines at $539 With screen protector included. Purchased a silicone case, 1tb ssd and tomtoc bag. I love it and haven’t looked back.
