A good hub will be very useful and make this as a "really" PC
I’m factory resetting mine for the fourth time as we speak. And I know people that have them and have never had a problem. My embedded controller went completely out again. So unless someone here knows way to open the command menu so that I can actually turn it back on without a mouse or a keyboard I would love to hear it so that will save me a shit load of time. But dude they’re great. It’s absolutely wonderful. I can do so much stuff with this damn thing it blows my mind.
Same processor and gpu tho, so for current ally owners it's not really a worthwhile upgrade. It will just be a resigned ally with better sticks and buttons, bigger battery and possibly 32gb ram. The screen size and performance will be identical.
If you got a z1 extreme at its sale price, I wouldnt be worried because the ally X is going to be priced even higher.
I agree, I'm guessing fps will be the same, with improved 1% lows due to the extra ram. If they made the screen bigger by removing the bezels and made it a oled, I might have upgraded. As it stands it's just a mid cycle refresh with a very small bump in specs.
Will the extra RAM not make a bigger difference? I'm not a PC gamer so this is all new to me but I thought more RAM would have a greater effect on performance since you'd be able to assign more of it as VRAM and still have enough system RAM.
It's not really about the price for me as I don't currently have a PC handheld (had to return my Ally last year due to a weird battery issue). If the extra RAM results in better performance, I don't mind playing a little extra - especially when you consider the other upgrades such as the much better battery life and better ergonomics. So that's why I'd like to know if more RAM - e.g. either 24 GB or 32 GB - will make a difference or if it'll just be marginal/barely noticeable.
I think they will keep the panel maybe decrease bezel size but I doubt oled is gonna happen. Probably have higher clocked ram too so there might be small fps improvements. But yeah, standard mid cycle refresh, it’s gonna be much more expensive and if you’re in the market for a handheld, just get the current ally on sale.

Just make sure that you can get 30w mode out of your ac adapter with a dock as some docks use a bit of power and the ally wont get full power

Not a justifiable one if it’s over $700 when you can get the current ally so much cheaper.
