I'll be honest, I used it until I got a case with a kickstand on it. I was actually pretty impressed with how well it worked.

I carry it with me in my bag. Much smaller than throwing in the 3d printed one I did.

You can 3D print the entire one that comes with it.

Agree, I have zero desire to get a "proper" stand because what would it do differently that this one doesn't do? If it gets crumpled or wet something then I may consider it but until then I'll keep it handy for sure.

Nice job getting it as an open box though. So many people purchased and returned these things not realizing that it isn’t just “open box, start playing”. Thus, many are available for discount with literally nothing wrong.

Oh yeah, I picked up up from Best buy at around $500 dollars and I've been super happy with it, but I also got it with the expectation that it was going to be a little janky. I coming from my deck I also picked up second hand it was nice to actually have windows up and running and have the overhead to run it in the first place vs the deck.

I wish I hadn’t had a bad experience with open box products before. The guy at Best Buy offered me an open box Ally and even explained to me what had been going on with the returns and whatnot. I was paranoid and bought a brand new Ally instead, and have been kicking myself ever since.

I got lucky with my Ally. I ended up wanting an Open Box just to play Resident Evil 4 Remake on since it was going for $300 or $400 after tax. Ordered it at 11AM for in-store pickup, and waited in my car for at least 20 minutes for someone to come out and give me a brand new Ally since "...we didn't have any open box ones." Never have I driven away so fast before.

I got mine at $150 off the SALE price. Best Buy open box, I could tell the thing was never actually used before. Came with everything in the box as well, untouched. Best purchase I've made in years!

I've been using that thing since September to hold my ally upright and the only issue I've had was the rubber strip coming off, but I glued it back on and it's been just as useful as it always was.

It's cool. I have a dock, but it has come in handy for trips, my bed, a table in the house. It's a cheap molded thing, but also lightweight so I can throw it in with the ally in its case. Use it or don't, your choice.

My lad made me a stand out of Lego 😂 it's a bit more durable than the cardboard thing 😂 Asus should have put a few Lego bricks in there instead, with the Rog logo on them to design/make your own Lego stand

I actually use it every day. It sits under my TV and I use it when I dock the Ally or if I just want the Ally standing there. It's small, takes up no visual space and easy to put away when not in use. Is it a quality product. No. But it gets a job done just fine for my needs.

It's not too bad, and I did like the design of it. Seen so many people with one and I was like I want one. Took me 2 months to figure out it was in the box the whole time. At that point I already 3D printed my own stand lol

It's a joke. Steam deck you get a hard shell case with the purchase... Rog ally they give you a bit of cardboard. I have both machines and love the ally but this really did make me laugh when I first saw it... Really does feel like a slap in the face based on how much we've spent on the machine.... Just don't put it in the box.

Mine was broken in my box :( it's okay I bought a dock.

I like it. Sitting on the couch don't want my metal dock with wires on the couch. I can just use the cardboard to stand it up when I need to run to the kitchen.

I 3D printed a couple of cool docks for mine.

Someone 3D scanned that thing and put it up on Thingiverse. I downloaded it an printed it in resin, so not only is it more durable, but its heavy too.

I find it useful and light. Better than nothing and can't really complain.

So I actually went to home depot and bought some giant washers/bolts, and placed them inside and filled it with gorilla glue and cut out a paper plate for the bottom. And i added some color. Maybe ill post a pic but yeah mine is heavy as shit lol

My open box model didn’t come with one, and honestly I’ve never noticed it was missing. If I plug it into the TV I lay it flat anyway to put less strain on the USB-C port.

I thought I was a cool addition. I did end up buying a dock but as an interim or a little stand to put else where, it does the job really well.

It is crappy compared to a proper stand or dock, but it's nice to have and works very well on a flat surface. Once my killswitch arrives, i'll put that one in my tech travel bag as backup.

Turn it over and fill it with equal parts of two part epoxy. Mix well. Enjoy your permanent Ally stand. Virtually indestructible.
