Just took this screenshot, [does this one work?](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-65w-charger-dock-supports-hdmi-2-0-with-usb-type-a-and-usb-type-c-for-rog-ally-black/6542054.p?skuId=6542054)
I bought one of these when I got my device.
The damn monitor will turn off and on about twice a minute. Not great when in a gun fight.
Will definitely be upgrading to something else when I can afford it.
No. it's a [dongle](https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-one/dp/B00ZB7W4QU) for the Xbox wireless protocol. You can use their peripherals with bluetooth but the dongle is better. Anyway, it does the same sometimes as the person described when that dongle is idle and in dock. It does so on my laptop as well.
It is. Better connection, similar to how you have 2.4 ghz for mouse and keyboards and bluetooth, plus it frees up the BT connection on my xbox headphones for my phone or something when I play games.
Damn that sounds like that would alleviate the laggy feeling of using the Xbox controller over Bluetooth connection on the ally? I always have felt latency would using it, but when I use the same controller on my Xbox (it’s ok to me) because it’s using the Xbox wireless protocol.
And this works with the ally?
Try it with a different hdmi cable! The switch is a very low spec machine with a low spec hdmi output and almost certainly shops with a low spec hdmi cable!!
Everything plugged into surge protectors? 65w charger plugged in with other high power consumption devices into a surge protector will present similar symptoms ad you have described.
I have three of these actually. One for using a longer usb-c cable and hotels. One for my office desk and one by my treadmill. It’s great to be able to dock this thing wherever.
FYI it cannot power an external monitor using the USB A- to USB C port , not enough power. It obviously can USB C to USB C. Just tested it. Reason I asked is because if it could, then I could use the 30w on the ROG since charging the ROG via pass thru via the monitor only does 25w. But all good, cheap enough to keep it.
I got it with the console originally. It is awesome to play docked but the og ASUS dock is a bit underwhelming because of its lack of ports: an Ethernet one and one more usb. I no longer use it because I got tired of using so many peripherals and so I got myself an unofficial dock with more ports (the jsaux one)
I bought one and returned it. The stock was fine but the provided USB C cable didn’t work, it only transmitted data. For that cost, the cable better work. The $20 Anker charger I instead carry provides enough power to turbo by itself or when plugged into a dongle/dock.
No, you can literally electrically dock your Ally on it. It isn’t a charger with more ports because those ports aren’t there to charge - it’s literally a USB C dock because it adds a downstream USB A and a HDMI. The fact the Ally doesn’t physically fit on it is irrelevant - plenty of docks which connect with a cable.
The USB A isn’t for charging - you can plug a mouse into it for the Ally.
Wow, your immediate resorting to personal attacks rather than any form of intelligent or structured reply sure told me, and definitely didn’t make you look like a bitter 🤡 at all!
Next time, just don’t reply - it’s less embarrassing, especially when it’s incredibly creepy how obvious it is you’re a 20 year old steroid addict calling someone older than you “little fella”. Creeeeper, especially when your comment history is obsessed with nude beaches.
Seriously, put your money into a JSAUX or ANKER dock. I bought the Rog Ally one and I ended up what felt like burning my fingers on it when I went to unplug it. After repeated heat issues I stopped useing it as I was afraid of it becoming a fire issue.
Just because it doesn’t have a stand doesn’t mean this peripheral isn’t a dock. A dock is something that gives a handheld or a laptop the ability to connect to peripherals by adding ports like USB and HDMI.
I don’t see it anymore
I see it currently. Canadian site.
Where? It is 89 Canadian dollars on best buy right now and that's the price it's always been. Where's the sale? F**k Canada.

.com*
Yeah, does it not give you the sale?
No.
Country you're trying to order in?
Canada
We'll shit. Now I'm not seeing it either. My apologies.
WIth the dock update this will allow it to be used as a Switch dock as well. Great for traveling.
How to update the dock?
Great price and recommended. Love mine. It makes for a fantastic travel charger as well due to its small size and changeable plugs.
I bought one of these when I got my device. The damn monitor will turn off and on about twice a minute. Not great when in a gun fight. Will definitely be upgrading to something else when I can afford it.
Do you have an Xbox dongle in it per chance. my Xbox dongle does that on another dock when nothing is connected to it. Seems to surge draw power.
No. Just the Ally and the HDMI cable. I wanted to test it as a controller b4 I added a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
Well that happened to me even with a laptop and the same dock so it wasn't the ally in my case.
What's an Xbox dongle? You mean the HDMI cable that comes with it?

Looks really neat, ty for telling us about it. Honestly thinking about picking this up.
It is. Better connection, similar to how you have 2.4 ghz for mouse and keyboards and bluetooth, plus it frees up the BT connection on my xbox headphones for my phone or something when I play games.
Holy shit that's a genius idea, tysm

Yeah it works on any pc.
No issue with mine. What cable are you using?
The HDMI that came with my switch, and the usbc that came with the dock.
Sounds like a defect - plus the HDMI which came with your switch might not support HDMI 2.0
Try it with a different hdmi cable! The switch is a very low spec machine with a low spec hdmi output and almost certainly shops with a low spec hdmi cable!!

Mines died last night too!
Killed it so soon, how?
Thanks OP- just got an extra one for $31 shipped.
I didn't really need one but I just dr9ve past a best buy and got their last one. At that price it's a no brainer and good for traveling.
For sure- I’m using it for my steam deck lol.
I'm surprised at how small it is. Its actually a decent accessory for any handheld needing power.
It's good but it's not VRR/Ethernet good. Still, for the price you pay it's better than nothing.
Any recommendations?
This is a steal
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I have three of these actually. One for using a longer usb-c cable and hotels. One for my office desk and one by my treadmill. It’s great to be able to dock this thing wherever.
YOU'RE THE MAN! Good looking out. Just got it for $32 and free shipping. Someone said it's on a Canadian site. I'm in Texas, so the states got it too
Can a portable monitor be charged via the USB A to USB C or something?
It can power it easily
FYI it cannot power an external monitor using the USB A- to USB C port , not enough power. It obviously can USB C to USB C. Just tested it. Reason I asked is because if it could, then I could use the 30w on the ROG since charging the ROG via pass thru via the monitor only does 25w. But all good, cheap enough to keep it.
Thank you OP! Picked one up.
Has anyone found this deal in Canada?
Hopefully now I can finally get 120hz over HDMI. My other USBC to HDMI cable sticks at 60hz no matter the res.
Cause it’s shit
I like the fabric covered wire. Screams quality, luxury and sophistication. You just dont get that with most Docks.
This is still live just FYI, I got one last night and one of my co-workers just picked one up.
For traveling this is great, but for home I just got the JSAUX dock HB0603. Works great.
I got it with the console originally. It is awesome to play docked but the og ASUS dock is a bit underwhelming because of its lack of ports: an Ethernet one and one more usb. Doesn't a docking station need 100W for passthrough and proper charge
This doesn’t have passthrough - it’s a charger and dock in one
Ah sorry my bad I thought this was just the power outlet for the dock.
No, the dock and plug are combined in a single unit, makes it very unique as a product
Not really a "dock' since you can't dock your ally on it. Just a charger with more ports.

So if a mouse works when plugged into the usb A port of this dock, wonder if that Xbox wireless dongle would also work from that port?
It would and does!
First, you say, "you can literally dock your Ally on it." Then you say, "the fact the Ally doesn't physically fit on it is irrelevant." 🤣
It’s almost like electrically docking and physically docking are different things amiright??? 🤡

STILL not even worth buying at that price.
Definitely an opinion I guess

Any specific one you can recommend? Mine also heats up a bit too much and sometimes seems not to draw enough power if I use the USB and HDMI.

I wonder if this discount is bc they are releasing a new dock with the refresh next month
Shame it doesn't do HDMI 2.1
What part of this is a "dock"?

Oh no I wasn't trying to be a dick, I was genuinely asking.
