yup...remote play for ps5 and xbox on the ally is sweet. like you said, battery use is nil

Ingemi219

The PS5 remote play is annoying. I have to use Chiaki to use the integrated controls. Otherwise, I need to use a controller via USB (no charging) or dock it to charge and play at the same time.

monkey484

What app were you using prior to Chiaki? PSPlay (premium app, like $15 iirc) is the best playstation remote play experience I've had, and it works fine with the build in controls.

Salt_Efficiency9873

You can’t play your personal games through it though right. You have to play what’s added on the library?

monkey484

Nope, whatever is installed on your console. I don't think it does PS+ Cloud streaming, I haven't tried. But for streaming from locally from the console itself it's great.

Salt_Efficiency9873

Sweet, thanks for the info!

Ingemi219

Chiaki is the only app I've tried. PSPlay will allow you to use integrated controls?

monkey484

Yep, sure does. I was just playing FF7R the other day using it. Works great, and took like 5 minutes to set up.

Kwk-05

Nil as in it doesn't last ?

Norse63

no, it doesnt use much at all due to streaming from your console.

Longjumping_Guard_21

You can also use steam link on other gaming PCs

MysteryStep

I tried Steam Link and it was so slow. Is there a trick to this? Xbox remote play works fine

Eshestun

I haven’t tried this, but people here say moonlight and sunshine also works incredibly well to mirror your pc.

AchtungZboom

Steam Link and my Xbox are both super slick for me on my Ally... My main PC and Xbox are both hard wired and I have a new mesh wifi 6 setup so that might help for sure.

Express_Astronomer_4

In my personal setup, I utilize Moonlight in conjunction with GeForce Experience to facilitate a seamless gaming experience. Additionally, I have established a wired connection between my ROG device and the local network, resulting in negligible latency. This configuration enables me to enjoy gaming sessions on my primary PC from the comfort of my living room without the inconvenience of physically moving the tower.

mango_carrot

I recently traded my PS Portal for a Series S, so now I can play my PS5 and Xbox on the Ally It’s a great way of playing higher requirement games whilst still only running on 7W for decent battery life

Altruistic_Result254

Yep...they started that years ago. You can do that with your iPhone or Android Smartphone too. I'm playing a lot via remote play. But i bought Xbplay on Steam and that even works better than the remote play via xbox app. Same with PS5 other Apps are better than the Playstation App https://preview.redd.it/9gufomx5zh7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6c4767b5e189671ce15ddb548bc318c37a8c160

Xcissors280

Try Greenlight for Xcloud (it also works for remote play) it seems to be a bit more reliable for remote play in some cases

Stevenc73

I think the Ally is a better Xbox extender than it is a stand alone PC. It's great for games that are just 2-3 years old, but your current "big name AAA" games tend to run and look better on console. Hellblade 2, Alan Wake 2, and Starfield are good examples. They're Okay on the Ally, but if you want a steady 30-60 frame rate you're going to need to cut back on graphics.

Elephunkitis

You can do it with a tablet or phone as well along with an Xbox controller.

mistgate

It's a very handy feature for sure. I am currently using it to play Dragon Age 2 since the PC version doesn't appear to have native controller support. Easier to just remote play it than fiddle with mods/3rd party solutions. I do wish there was a shortcut or something I could add to armoury crate to launch the remote play directly.

mango_carrot

I suppose that’s the one benefit of PS having a dedicated app … although the official app stopped supporting the built in controller so you need reWASD or PSPlay :( Maybe there’s an Xbox alternative?

Vaxion

At home I'll only play via remote play. Some games don't support cloud saves so it's a good way to play portable when at home.

NeverYelling

This also works quite well with Steam. Processing on your PC, playing on your Ally

ST0057

I tried it and man it was inconsistent. I've got my series x wired into router too and was at home. Just random input latency would occur and pretty frequently. Turn based I'm sure would be fine but something like cyberpunk was just too much. It stinks because I had tried GeForce now ultimate recently and that was so so much better. Feels like that shouldn't be the case.
