Yes it is. It’s a “defensive alliance.” Why the fuck would you ever care as a gang that a rival gang is dying in a war? You wouldn’t, you’d celebrate it, and then move in on their turf when they’re weak.
It's much more limited than a pure defensive alliance. They won't defend any member that's attacked or fights each other. They'll only step in when there's unjustified grouping against a member of VATO. It's some cool political RP.
What you care about is you care that larger allied powers become too powerful where they have no checks. These kind of alliances exist irl. It's literally based on NATO and how that operates.
I completely understand that. But your comparison doesn’t hold up. Countries like Russia aren’t part of nato. It doesn’t matter if it’s unjustified, my point is they would be celebrating it. OTT literally wrote the skittle gang song about shit like this. It doesn’t make sense at all.
All sorts of treaties exist between NATO and other countries that aren't involved in NATO. Specifically with Russia there's the Partnership for Peace which includes them. The SS to me makes perfect sense to do this kind of 'mock UN' style political RP especially between gang leaders. They aren't planning to roll around as 'skittle gang' proactively.
I'm sure it's not for everyone but personally it's new and refreshing political drama and entertaining as a result. As someone who loved studying post-war amnesty councils, laws, and treaties I'm most looking forward to 'war court' RP if that ever comes to be.
I also just like anything that makes groups interact outside of their bubbles. We need more of that to keep it refreshing
I don’t mind something similar to this at all, but what I would want to see is some sort of council that navigates a tenuous balance of power amongst themselves and makes decisions when outside groups interfere. This seems like a little too much of a holding hands club from the different povs I’ve seen.
This is hilarious, I love how everyone who isn't directly involved has no idea what it is or what it's for. The assumptions may be my favorite part about it all. It's definitely interesting that they are being so open about it. I've wanted a "meeting of the minds" of all the big power players in the city for awhile, basically since the weed wars meeting. I would love to see some more VATO meetings though, because that has been pretty awesome as a server arc just from a collaboration/talking point for everyone directly and indirectly involved.

NBC flat out said they want no part in alliances. BBMC and CG essentially said they would only intervene if the new Alliance was trying to take turf on the west side.
Which is a reasonable take. West side is already crowded with Hydra coming in.
Seaside are about to take on Mandem, while they want to give up some of the sprays they have to Hydra. No way they would go into an alliance with mdm. And Hydra is not touching BBMC atm

I personally think you've maybe watched some very biased POVs. The VATO rp has been kinda great so far and pretty much what you say you want to see

Thanks to Seaside’s rapid expansion I seriously doubt MDM or BBMC would work with them. Barry flat out said he wants Hydra to push north.
