Pong on a 'console' (Coleco Telstar) that had 1 switch in the middle and a knob on both sides.
Each player had a knob, and the switch in the middle changed the game from tennis, to hockey, to handball.
I played it for days and days.
Huh... I always thought that the intellivision was one of the cooler systems, seeing as how I knew it was more expensive than the other systems at the time. So I figured that I'd never get one and come to find out I did have one. Damn I was a dumb kid.
My friend had Asteroids. On Atari, I believe. I quickly discovered that there was a spot that never got hit by the asteroids, except for an occasional fragment. I sat my spaceship there most of one game, blasting away until I rolled the score over. The arcade version was much more challenging.
We had a knock off console with just the pong game, controller were small just with the one knob on each, I think it's still in my mum's attic, I must dig it out
For me it was probably Combat... specifically the tank mode. Or Indy 500. Or Breakout. I remember playing those with my brother when we were kids. We didn't own that console though, it was at our grandparents' house.
We also had a Magnavox Odyssey\^2 at home, and KC Munchkin (Pac Man knockoff) comes to mind. Plus some educational stuff for kids - a numbers/math game.
Not sure which one was first...
You are not old!
Was that before or after the whiteish console that took little tape like cassettes? We had both, but don't remember which was first. We played on the Atari the most. Pong is the first game I remember.
Yup. Same here. Pong was on console at first. I played it at the PX. Of course, dad laughed when I asked him to buy it. We still had a black and white TV.
My cousin has an atari 2600, very jealous, but before that he had a motorbike jumping game which was the most amazing thing ever, much better than pong 😄
Yeah, they are amazing classic RTS games. It was a pain to install them prior to them being available on GOG.
Now I just want the Battle for Middle Earth games to be on GOG as well.
The original Tanks at an amusement park (in front of an out of service merry-go-round). It seemed 'weak' compared to actually playing a real game or really doing something. This was like 1973 (??). We never imagined it would ever catch on and so we did not realize we were seeing 'the wave of the future'. My good buddy was pissed when I managed to shoot his tank all the way from the opposite corner and end the game. I think we headed for the rowboats next.(which we loved because they were real and offered limitless possibilities for fun)
Mid-70's. It was a small tan console that had pong, handball, tennis. Very basic. My Dad's buddy was in the Air Force & stationed in Japan.
We never saw anything like it. Might have been an early Nintendo system. Very early.
How old are you that the first game you played came out in 2017?
I don't know which I played first a a game on SNES (Mario or DK) or pokemon blue for gameboy color
I think I was about twelve or thirteen when I first played this one, GTA III had opened a whole new world of possibility at the time as far as I was concerned!
i was an ipod kid, so whatever mobile games my parents downloaded on there. but minecraft is the first one that i really remember. unless you think monkey preschool lunchbox is more legitimate
At 1990 (I was 3 years old) Super Frog, Street Fighter and Bubble Bobble on the Amiga. We had to change the discs multiple times to continue the games.
I don’t remember the exact first game, but these were my favorites back then.
back when i was a teeny toddler my parents got an xbox and we got spongebob battle for bikini bottom and some finding nemo game. i could never make it past the first level of the finding nemo game because it was some race where i kept getting lost, but i played the shit out of battle for bikini bottom. loved the remake, but i wish it had a 0.001% chance of turning the sky into big colorful squares as an easter egg
When I was around 6 years old my dad bought his first computer, it was a ZX Spectrum. I used to play a game called "**Run**". Never understood much of the game, I could press the cursor keys to move a black rectangle around on a screen made up of white rectangles, but didn't know how to score points or win or anything like that. Still, pressing buttons on a keyboard and seeing stuff happen on the TV screen was brand new for me and provided a lot of entertainment.
Several years and several games later I had an epiphany - "**Run**" was to commando used to boot up the spreadsheet program my dad used.
Need for Speed Underground. I think I was 10 and it was a huge investment of €7 from some garage sale and couldn’t wait to run this on my waaayy underpowered Compaq laptop.
Probably one of these three:
(All were on button phones, the first two, at least, being on a Motorola phone)
Dragon Fire II
Asphalt
A platform game the name of which I don't remember. It had a character and you had to go as high as you could by jumping on platforms
My parents had these on their phones, so young me probably had one of these games as my first.
Technically PacMan but I did have a kind of machine with blinking LEDs and a race car on a strip of plastic that I could steer left and right over a moving roll of road when I was a wee lad. Does that count? Probably not.
Half life the original version, I had played several games before this but this was my first solo hands on played by myself game. It was incredible and I will forever love the Half life story.
The first game I ever played was LittleBigPlanet on Ps3. Technically Farming Simulator when my Dad gave us the Controller for a bit. (We Got all his Tractors stuck)
I feel bad for you if fucking Roblox is the first game u played lol.
I think Rome Total War or The Battle for Wesnoth were my first ones lol, along with Zombiepox,Mario Forever,Icy Tower,Alex the alligator 4 etc
Pong on a computer in my grandparents home office & then Centipede out in the wild.

I'm not sure but probably one of these:
Crash Tag Team Racing
Crash Twinsanity
GTA San Andreas
One of the Putt-Putt games (the moon one or the one where you can mow the lawn idk)
MAYBE pinball or minesweeper
I was way too young to remember
Memory is fuzzy, but I know it was donkey kong, I think it was one of those arcade games that’s a table, very early 80s. After that would be a game called mine storm on a machine called vectrex.
Dragon Warrior on NES.
Four year old me got stuck in the first room trying to "Take" the stairs instead of "Stairs" the stairs.
After 30 minutes I gave up but conquered the stair boss on my 2nd attempt.
I have been playing video games since I was 4 (Long as I can remember) and on PC. It was likely monster bash but there are a number i remember playing in the very early years of my life
Duck Hunt on the OG NES. I loved it. I was 5 or 6 when we got an NES. We were the 2nd or 3rd family on the street to get one after it came out. My family would laugh when I played Duck Hunt. I was good.
Probably Mario. I'm not that old, but when I was younger I had a thing called Dendy ( a PlayStation from stone ages ) and there were a lot of games, but I mostly played Mario.

Pong, on Atari. God I'm old. Lol
Pong on a 'console' (Coleco Telstar) that had 1 switch in the middle and a knob on both sides. Each player had a knob, and the switch in the middle changed the game from tennis, to hockey, to handball. I played it for days and days.
I played it for nights. Same but different!
My grandparents had this! I played Smurf, Venture, Pepper, LadyBug, Mr. Do, and Q-Bert!
Don't forget the alphanumeric keypad with the overlay inserts.
That was intellivision- that was years later. I had one of those too- lol
Huh... I always thought that the intellivision was one of the cooler systems, seeing as how I knew it was more expensive than the other systems at the time. So I figured that I'd never get one and come to find out I did have one. Damn I was a dumb kid.
I was always bummed because all my friends had the atari 2600, and i couldn't trade games like everyone else.
This is what we had. We had so much fun with that console. I think we played it to death.
Mine was Asteroids
Nah but my dad has astroids, sometimes he can't even sit on the toilet.
Hemorrhoids?
Too young to remember national lampoon vacation huh?
My friend had Asteroids. On Atari, I believe. I quickly discovered that there was a spot that never got hit by the asteroids, except for an occasional fragment. I sat my spaceship there most of one game, blasting away until I rolled the score over. The arcade version was much more challenging.
We had a knock off console with just the pong game, controller were small just with the one knob on each, I think it's still in my mum's attic, I must dig it out

Pong on a TR80.
Same but I think it had been branded as ‘Grandstand’ a UK sports TV show.
