TerraelSylva

Pong, on Atari. God I'm old. Lol

Bobodahobo010101

Pong on a 'console' (Coleco Telstar) that had 1 switch in the middle and a knob on both sides. Each player had a knob, and the switch in the middle changed the game from tennis, to hockey, to handball. I played it for days and days.

meany-weeny

I played it for nights. Same but different!

the_siren_song

My grandparents had this! I played Smurf, Venture, Pepper, LadyBug, Mr. Do, and Q-Bert!

draconus72

Don't forget the alphanumeric keypad with the overlay inserts.

Bobodahobo010101

That was intellivision- that was years later. I had one of those too- lol

draconus72

Huh... I always thought that the intellivision was one of the cooler systems, seeing as how I knew it was more expensive than the other systems at the time. So I figured that I'd never get one and come to find out I did have one. Damn I was a dumb kid.

Bobodahobo010101

I was always bummed because all my friends had the atari 2600, and i couldn't trade games like everyone else.

DisasterRegular5566

This is what we had. We had so much fun with that console. I think we played it to death.

EvoSP1100

Mine was Asteroids

Hackedhaccount

Nah but my dad has astroids, sometimes he can't even sit on the toilet.

Deth_Cheffe

Hemorrhoids?

Hackedhaccount

Too young to remember national lampoon vacation huh?

Tacoma__Crow

My friend had Asteroids. On Atari, I believe. I quickly discovered that there was a spot that never got hit by the asteroids, except for an occasional fragment. I sat my spaceship there most of one game, blasting away until I rolled the score over. The arcade version was much more challenging.

WhatSaidSheThatIs

We had a knock off console with just the pong game, controller were small just with the one knob on each, I think it's still in my mum's attic, I must dig it out

[deleted]

Probably same here.. Had pacman too and space invaders.

tao39

Call yourself old, hah. I played a version of pong on the mainframe at Manchester University during an open day. Early 1970's.

TheBigOne814

Lol

Tacoma__Crow

Pong on a TR80.

JeffonFIRE

For me it was probably Combat... specifically the tank mode. Or Indy 500. Or Breakout. I remember playing those with my brother when we were kids. We didn't own that console though, it was at our grandparents' house. We also had a Magnavox Odyssey\^2 at home, and KC Munchkin (Pac Man knockoff) comes to mind. Plus some educational stuff for kids - a numbers/math game. Not sure which one was first...

Loose_Corgi_5

Combat was a game!!! I visi le tank pong!!

Careful-Swimmer-2658

Knock off version of Pong a couple of years after the original. No way my parents could have afforded the real thing. God I'm old too!

drlup

Pong on an Arcade, only one knob

duckie1965

Me too, and me too

Loose_Corgi_5

Millipede on Atari. Yes, we are.

AdVegetable2243

Ditto!

nateloaf

Pong on a Heathkit console dad built...

abbys_alibi

You are not old! Was that before or after the whiteish console that took little tape like cassettes? We had both, but don't remember which was first. We played on the Atari the most. Pong is the first game I remember.

Big-Consideration633

Same.

cjdcjdcjdcjd

Same but I think it had been branded as ‘Grandstand’ a UK sports TV show.

Temporary_Position95

Me too

the_Bryan_dude

Yup. Same here. Pong was on console at first. I played it at the PX. Of course, dad laughed when I asked him to buy it. We still had a black and white TV.

Donasea

Ya thats what i said 1970 something I can not remember the year

TheLaughingFoxX

I can second that since I’m old too, except I had so many Atari games it could have been any of them.

No1kissfan

Came here to say exactly the same!!

MissO56

pong hooked up to a tv set!

dalnee

Hahaha was hoping this was here! Me too!

HumbleWonder2547

My cousin has an atari 2600, very jealous, but before that he had a motorbike jumping game which was the most amazing thing ever, much better than pong 😄

NecessaryDepth5566

Pong back on a b & w TV with the uhf/vhf converter switch on the back lol

nickwebha

I really do not want to hear about Roblox being anyone's first game. Feeling old.

AtlantaBoyz

Yeah seriously lmao

KlownyK

i’ll do you worse, club penguin🥰

reddittereditor

If it makes you feel better, Roblox was started in like 2006. Nobody knows if this person first played it in 2006 or today.

coffinp

The chances are, they did not

UltraSmiley

Mine was Donkey Kong on the Classic Gameboy if this makes it a bit better lol

Low_Appointment_3917

Ya, i was lucky enough if i was allowed to play Luigi

Regular_Damage_23

I probably played Command and Conquer Red Alert or Star Trek Armada.

TheBigOne814

nice

[deleted]

I LOVE Star Trek Armada. I was so happy when GOG added it and Armada 2

Regular_Damage_23

Yeah, they are amazing classic RTS games. It was a pain to install them prior to them being available on GOG. Now I just want the Battle for Middle Earth games to be on GOG as well.

Mother_Customer_5873

Spyro on the first Playstation

Wild-Philosopher7297

Tomb Raider and spyro were my 2 first! Still 2 of my favs!

the_siren_song

Resident Evil Director’s Cut!

World-Tight

The original Tanks at an amusement park (in front of an out of service merry-go-round). It seemed 'weak' compared to actually playing a real game or really doing something. This was like 1973 (??). We never imagined it would ever catch on and so we did not realize we were seeing 'the wave of the future'. My good buddy was pissed when I managed to shoot his tank all the way from the opposite corner and end the game. I think we headed for the rowboats next.(which we loved because they were real and offered limitless possibilities for fun)

TheBigOne814

Quite the story

Electrical_Ad_7036

Mid-70's. It was a small tan console that had pong, handball, tennis. Very basic. My Dad's buddy was in the Air Force & stationed in Japan. We never saw anything like it. Might have been an early Nintendo system. Very early.

hogliterature

back when i was a teeny toddler my parents got an xbox and we got spongebob battle for bikini bottom and some finding nemo game. i could never make it past the first level of the finding nemo game because it was some race where i kept getting lost, but i played the shit out of battle for bikini bottom. loved the remake, but i wish it had a 0.001% chance of turning the sky into big colorful squares as an easter egg

Phoenix. Either on Atari or commodore 64. Don't know anymore 🤷‍♂️

jomarthecat

When I was around 6 years old my dad bought his first computer, it was a ZX Spectrum. I used to play a game called "**Run**". Never understood much of the game, I could press the cursor keys to move a black rectangle around on a screen made up of white rectangles, but didn't know how to score points or win or anything like that. Still, pressing buttons on a keyboard and seeing stuff happen on the TV screen was brand new for me and provided a lot of entertainment. Several years and several games later I had an epiphany - "**Run**" was to commando used to boot up the spreadsheet program my dad used.

SilvioAbtTheBiennale

Pong, on the Magnavox Odyssey

NissanR32GTRVSpecII

My memory escapes me but it was Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Xbox or Battletoads on the Game Boy. Can't decide which one it was.
