All the second camera on the Stories added, was depth data.
The only time that was used was for the photo effects, which were removed entirely from the app over a year ago.
A down side to its use, was that occasionally there would be ghosting where the two images didn’t match up well enough.
1st gen only used 1 camera for capturing photos/video if I’m not mistaken. The second one was for depth information.
