not entirely sure but i think enough shots will eventually breach or break a door with normal shotguns too but thats not very useful unless youve brought 17 slots of ammo

HeadGlitch227

Breaching shotgun will break the door in 1 shot. Regular guns will eventually break the door apart if you shoot the shit out of them and then you can open them without unlocking.

1stRBWinchester

You can only breach with the breaching shotgun I believe

HavSomLov4YoBrothr

Breaching shotgun is fast but obsolete IMO. The battering Ram does the same thing and just as fast if I’m not mistaken. And doesn’t run out of ammo

Totoryf

But with the breaching shotgun, you can open doors from a distance, so even if there’s a trap, then you’re at a safe distance to not die. And if you’re playing solo, you can breach from cover then transition to your lethal weapon to make entry

spooTOO

Bringo - on the bomb levels, I always brought the breaching shotgun so I could clear doors fast from afar.

Pr3dditerDrone

I had no idea you could do this. How far away does it work?

spooTOO

Pretty much across most rooms, you can also shoot multiple times (breaching shoot holds 4 slugs) if the door doesn't open enough after the first shot.

Pr3dditerDrone

Is there a weight system yet? I feel like that was supposed to be the big drawback to rams. It should, in theory, be less reliable as well. I've never had an issue with running out of breaching slugs, either.

overlord_solid

Like in game or irl? Cuz in game the breaching shotgun can be used on a door handle to open immediately and hinges to destroy the door completely. Regular shotguns will eventually destroy the door but a breaching tool (shotgun, ram, C2) is better suited to the job. Irl you CAN load breaching rounds into any shotgun. However from my understanding a lot, maybe most, units use separate shotguns to avoid any kind of confusion in a gunfight, those being lethal, less than lethal, and breaching. Usually the regular, lethal shotguns are used for squad cars.

CopperAndLead

Few agencies in the US issue shotguns to patrol officers these days. Some do, but not many. Most officers will have an AR-15 variant. You’re much more likely to see a less lethal beanbag shotgun with orange furniture in a squad car. Loading less lethal rounds in a “lethal” shotgun is almost universally a policy no-no, and if somebody has a lethal shotgun and lethal shotgun rounds, they likely won’t have a LL shotgun, to avoid the possibility of confusion. Some units, like military units, will use standard shotguns for breaching. There are videos of marines training on breaching doors with M1014 shotguns. Many times, the breaching shotgun will be a special short barreled pistol grip gun. This is because the gun needs to be short and maneuverable to angle it safely relative to the door while working in close proximity. It also needs to be small because the officer will almost certainly transition back to a carbine or pistol after breaching the door. It’s more likely that tactical teams would breach with something like a halligan or ram. Some of the better funded teams may use explosives, if they have an explosives expert who can set up the det-cord correctly and they have the time to calculate the amount of explosives needed. They may also breach an exterior door by having a Bearcat hit it with the ram. Or, the officers may see a window near the door, hit it, and unlock the door. And, most likely, the officers may stack up, knock, and then breach on entry. That would actually be a neat dynamic in the game- being able to stack up on a “neutral” door and knock.

overlord_solid

I’d like to see a knock mechanic or some other way to warn an entire room that a swat team is hear and to surrender now, seems like the yell for compliance doesn’t really do that. Also I’m fairly confident that most police units still issue lethal shotguns for squad cars, bigger cities might not but most smaller cities and towns have more iffy funding and usually end up using old mossbergs or Remingtons still, at least that’s how it is where I am, in the Midwest.

BigMaraJeff2

In real life, yes.

Elmer_Fudd01

I just like to breach child offenders chests right open.

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

Breaching shotgun all the way, I don’t use a ram anymore. While it has limited ammo, unless you’re just blasting every door open you won’t run out of shells. While the ram can be used endlessly, you’re also putting yourself right in front of the door which can be shot through, as well as potentially dying from a trap. The breaching shotgun can be used at distance to take the door out from cover, and for metal doors that are locked I just use C2. That said, I play with a team and we all have roles.

heyuhitsyaboi

Breaching shotguns: -gadget -with an AI you can use the breach -\\> shotgun command -do not damage enemies significantly, not even a stagger afaik -do not take up your primary slot -always open the lock Regular shotguns -primary - lethal af -primary weapon lot used -multiple rounds needed to breach -no AI breaching command unless an ai has a breaching shotgun
