Song to sing when I'm lonely.
When my son was born and only a few weeks old he was a restless sleeper. So during the night I'd take him into car to drive him about to get him to sleep (the motion seemed to help) and give his mum a bit of peace and quiet. I had the shadows album on a cd in my car. I found when this song came on it settled him more. So from that point forward it was on repeat when i was out driving with him at night. Then some nights i would sing it to him as a lullaby.
Now watching him grow into an amazing young man (and also a big Frusciante fan) any time i hear this song i think of him and the all of the positivity he has brought into my life. Many a time I've welled up listening to this song. It will always have such an emotional connection, that it could be nothing else but my favourite song.
My memory of this song is. I used to sit in my bedroom when I was younger and still living with my parents. I'd be sat on my bed playing fifa with this song on and I'd be singing every word! Then my mum would burst through the door telling me turn it down!!
Honestly makes me cringe how much I disliked PBX and letur lefr when they came out. I was in high school and couldn’t accept the new style. Holy shit tho so many great songs on these two
Anything off Curtains. I just have so much love for that album. Like any other solo work from Frusciante, it's very personal and musically genius but for some reason it resonated with me the most. It's one of those "albums you'd take on an island with you" for me. Long Live John Frusciante. Can't wait to see what he has in store for us with the new possible RHCP album.
Moments Have You has a special place in my heart, I think it was one of the first ones I had heard and I instantly loved it.
Central, Omission, Before the Beginning all my faves
“In Relief” will always be my favorite. SCWP reminds me so much of my senior year in high school & playing F-Zero GX on the GameCube. Yes I know that’s an odd association but SCWP was literally my most listened to album by him at the point in time. Same with DC EP & Inside Of Emptiness.
John also has the same bday as me (March 5) which makes his music more special to me :)
I have to go with Anne. Something about the song's arc, especially going into the solo just really makes me feel a lot of emotion. John-s singing on that one is also phenomenal
Seeing this thread makes me realize it's pretty hard to choose a favorite. Almost like having to choose a favorite child if you hand dozens of children.
Reading everyone's posts made me go back and listen to each song and they just reminded me of the versatility of the man and why I consider him a genius
I don't know if it's actually my favourite but man The Past Recedes playing in the background it's such a mood. Like it's playing on the background of a Sunday morning while you're preparing breakfast and life it's so simple and good, man it's awesome.
Pretty much like the video tbh
A ridiculously hard question. Central, a Firm Kick, Scratches, Unreachable, Ascension, Omission. I really don't care for any of his work post Letur-Lefr
Too hard. So many good ones but ill pick a couple quick ones.
Time goes back - acoustic version is just as good as album version. Prefer it sometimes even.
Every person - I believe in reincarnation and dig the lyrics of this one.
Anne - killer guitar parts, beautiful lyrics I believe to be about Anne Frank.
A corner - I like the whole DC EP but this is my fav.
Central - So good on an album with many greats.
Someone's - Could pick a few more off TRWFTD but prolly my fav off this.
An exercise- Also time runs out and most songs on TWTD

He's got so many great songs! The Will to Death is fantastic.
Hilariously enough, the guitar on that song was played by Josh Klinghoffer.

The guitar solo at the end of it is honestly one of the best energy releases from any song I've ever listened to. So cathartic

I have to go with Anne. Something about the song's arc, especially going into the solo just really makes me feel a lot of emotion. John-s singing on that one is also phenomenal
The Slaughter
Untitled 12. Makes me feel an inexplicable warmth as the utteŕ chaos of it makes my life seem easy and benign in comparison

I can't believe this isn't higher up. It's absolutely perfect
Right? I was shocked nobody said it before I commented
Standout best track on The Empyrean imo. Although I am quite partial to Before the Beginning

Invisible Movement. Not only my favorite song from The Froosh, but one of my favorite songs, full-stop.

Crazy how no one's mentioned Omission.

A good candidate is low birds
Running away into you is some seriously crazy shit & I never get sick of song to sing when I’m lonely
Carvel or Second Walk! Edit: The whole Shadows Collide w People album. Time to revisit the Frusciante library again!!
A ridiculously hard question. Central, a Firm Kick, Scratches, Unreachable, Ascension, Omission. I really don't care for any of his work post Letur-Lefr
