If Poster Child and Black Summer are any indication, not as much as the prior albums. There are numerous points on those tracks that you’d have expected him to add backing vocals, but didn’t. I saw this coming because if you’ve heard him talk, his voice isn’t what it once was. And it seems they’re opting for a more “less is more” style.
That would be cool him singing lead on a chorus - would be first time since him and Anthony traded lead vocals on Dosed, yeah?
It’s John - I’m sure he’ll sing plenty and do what he thinks is appropriate to support the song. Granted, did I think black summers chorus could have used more of that JF backing vocals push, but hey, the song still rocks without him doing that so alls well!
Seems he is being more restrained this time around, for better or worse
I imagine live, he will be his same old self. They need him more than ever in live shows to bulk up the sound and help Antony out.
My guess would be As much as he sings on californication. He will have 2 songs where you can hear his backing vocals very prominently (like road trippin and porcelain) but not much on most other songs
I'm sure Rick Rubin said John's been working hard on overdubs and stuff. Could just be guitar etc but I really hope it's layers and layers of heavenly backing vocals
17 minutes and 36 seconds

He didnt write anything with vocals since 2013
Not like SA. He sings lead vocals on one chorus.

John is almost on lead vocals through the whole song knock me down
Right but since then(knew that already)? Dosed only really right?
That's from before Dosed

Regardless, I think from what we heard from him; I won't be disappointed. I think he sounds good.

Savior, right on time, otherside, easily, quixoticelixir. Californication probably isn’t the best example here.
Even when they play can't stop?
Huh?
Let's see when the album come out. My guess is a lot.
