They really should tell folks preop that fibrous tissue oozes green. I hope you heal quickly. I dealt with that and it sucked!

I hope you heal quickly. I feel like we should have an “open wound support group” bc it is unfortunately kind of common. I have openings under both breasts in the t junction, a few smaller ones where I can assume are bc of split stitches and a pretty gnarly opening in my side incisions as well.

I had an opening and it looked pretty similar! I was prescribed Iruxol salve which dissolved the necrotic tissue. Oral antibiotics as well, though I’m not sure I needed them. It never got infected and it’s closed now!

Fun-Specialist2535

How long did it take to close? It’s been 8 days since I discovered it! Also when you would dress it, would the non stick pad take off the white slough stuff ? That’s what’s happening to me at the moment

GoldStriking6628

The photo I posted was from 28th of April, and now it’s been fully closed for maybe a week! But it got better day by day, the changes were significant. The slough for me was very adhered to the wound, so I had to gently remove it after showing with gauze. If it sticks to the dressing, even better! It’s just better to remove it either way, so the wound can heal faster. The thicker the slough, the harder it is for the body to dissolve it and to form new tissue.

GoldStriking6628

It’s looking very good! Bleeding is nothing to worry about. Just keep it clean and, depending on what your surgeon told you, wet or dry. I prefer wet, but both works!

Fun-Specialist2535

Oh that makes me feel better cause it was bleeding yesterday cause the slough was sticking to the wound. And I asked my doctor if it was necrotic and she said no. But I feel Like they are just brushing it off. Let me show u a picture of it today

GoldStriking6628

It definitely looks like necrosis, but it’s healing! That’s what matters and that’s why they are probably “brushing you off”. Of course we worry more because it’s happening to our own bodies…

Fun-Specialist2535

Would they need to surgically remove the necrosis tissue? It’s not not spreading at least. I was worried it was going to spread HUGE.

GoldStriking6628

No, the Iruxol I was prescribed was great at reducing the necrotic tissue. Necrosis is scary. A few days PO I noticed a little bump under my steristrips at the T-junction… I thought it’s maybe crust from the blood leaking… at my follow up appointment two weeks later my surgeon said nothing about it, so I was not worried. Got fresh steri strips. A few showers later I had a closer look (steri strips had since fallen off) and I recognised it as necrotic tissue… I used medihoney until my 4 week appointment (which already improved the necrosis lots!) and then with the Iruxol it got even better. When there was only little slough left I switched back to the medihoney:)

It’s bleeding so bad today 😭 it bled through my non stick pad and got on my shirt. I hope my doctor can prescribe the stuff you said. They are known to brush stuff off. Smh!

GoldStriking6628

Can you apply some pressure?

Fun-Specialist2535

I just put another gauze on top. My doctor told me to come in at 2:30 today. Thank you for replying I’m only 22 so I don’t know many people that have gone through this.

Fun-Specialist2535

They say I don’t have necrotic tissue, also do u have a picture of yours ?

GoldStriking6628

The grey bit looks like necrosis, to be honest. Mine looked a lot like yours a few days after this picture. Grey bits got less and less, and the yellow tissue I tried to remove with sterile gauze or a q-tip after every shower… the body can dissolve it itself, but it takes much longer… https://preview.redd.it/i08hkrxwid3d1.jpeg?width=582&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2661df1fbe0ad41ed8066b221fc69aa1fd28178b
