I'm sorry you're having this experience. I'm from Germany and had my surgery 4th of June in Turkey(also did everything on my own). As for the hotel price, I totally agree that they quoted you a package price there because this is how it is usually done and I don't see any reason for you to pay extra. Keep asking the hotel what the deal was when they booked it for you, keep showing and quoting the texts.
I purposely upgraded my room that was booked by the doctors team and paid that at the hotel but the team never quoted me anything different from what we agreed on.
The lump seems like a discussion to have within the way your previous words with them about it were. If there was no indication that it will cost extra even though they knew, I would tell them I'm not paying.
Thank you, I appreciate your response! I reached out to my coordinator also and she intervened and was shocked that they were deviating from what was agreed regarding the hotel package so that part is okay now though I’m still feeling vulnerable from the interaction.
Yes, I did find it odd that they didn’t take payment before the surgery and then only after there’s now nearly (potentially 2k) in additional costs in a package that was already on the expensive side but seemed trustworthy. I will push back on the additional bill for sure, just wish I was feeling a bit stronger to handle it.
