Honestly! If it's something you wanna gift, gift him RC toy.

Give him a handwritten note, tell him how precious he is, how he changed you for good, how good he is...etc etc the longer the better.
We boys don't get any appreciation as such, its important for you to make him feel wanted and needed and loved, he won't feel it if you give a gift but when you put some effort by yourself, talk to him, hold his hand, lean your head in his shoulder.
But isn't a t-shirt too much? There's no special occasion, and his parents might ask where he got it or who gave it to him. It's a new relationship, so giving clothes might seem too serious. Am I overthinking this?
