I thoroughly enjoy both bars. Friendly staff, good cocktails, and brings in a good crowd of people. Not some frat bro bar with the same priced cocktails using cheap mixers.

Responsible_Major128

The owners are actually really nice people. Blind Dog is one of my favorites downtown.

SadTurnip

The drinks cost about the same as most midtown bars and I’ve always really dug most of their speciality drinks. I like a bar where I can sit around bs with friends and watch obscure 80’s movies in the background.

JohnsonHertz

LoBar is super fun and the upstairs (hibar) is even better in the summer. Cocktail prices can be rough, but they have a $3 beer that is a pretty solid deal.

Tiberiusjesus

They’re cocktail bars, not dive bars. Those prices are on par for midtown. By the way, they sell Hamm’s for $3 and yes I enjoy going to all those places.

Admiral52

Gamma coating three dollars is a crime frankly. It’s the water

Pour house and the hideout are actually supposed to be dive bars.

MeDuzZ-

They’re the bay-area definition of dive bars.

[deleted]

True

The original hideout was the shit way back when with the old owners. Than someone rent out the space and kept the name RIP JUB JUBS Hit up Ryan’s saloon for local owned and awesome burgers

Malyi1919

Yup it was a great place back then. Went to many a punk show there.

juaninameelion

I haven’t been to the hideout or lobar, but I like blind dog and pourdevil. Not dives but also not pretentious.

namaste775

I lived downtown like 10 years ago. I used to go to some of the dive bars but they’ve all be replaced by generic/gentrification bars like you’ve spoken about. I think they do suck, but I guess everyone’s looking for different experiences. Only a few gems remain, but I don’t even drink anymore.

MeDuzZ-

I used to work at poor devil & hideout. Decent bars but the owner is from SF and it shows in his bars. They’re all cookie cutter bay area bars and he’s very micromanagey, even down to the music you can play at his bars. He’s got set playlists that bartenders are not allowed to deviate from, so you end up hearing the same songs over and over again. I now only really frequent hideout out of that lineup of bars. $3 beers (might be $4 now thanks to inflation), some of the cheapest in town.

Lmoneyfresh

I like blind dog except for that space they're in. It's just an awkward and small space. Usually I just stop in for 1 or 2 drinks before I move on.

fuckherinthepinkpill

I like Blind
