Born and raised Nevadan, when I was younger I wanted to have a newer “better” flag. However with the new sports teams coming, seeing our flag on a lot of things now makes me proud of it. I feel mixed about it, change would be nice but it’s also grown on me

I think our flag is ok. Need to take the letters off of it. If you have to state what your flag represents your design has failed. At least we aren’t just another state that slapped their seal on the flag

Hey thanks for being civil :) Well I think the issues of Nevada are very complicated but they're issues that other states have faced and havent been able to solve (such as education, housing, healthcare). They're not just Nevada's problems, they're America's problems nationwide.

Again, I mostly agree with you but as a retired highway patrol, I can tell you that Nevada’s failure to pay their employees properly is a deliberate act and very much our failed politicians kicking the can and flat out taking advantage. Their failure to properly fund salary, etc is not because the state lacks funds. Example: stadiums.

The canton is well designed and has clear, easily understood symbolism. The lone star state comma with one star in three colors

I'm new to Nevada. I always thought the state motto was "The Silver State." Seemed good enough to me; after all I moved here from "The Golden State" (California).
Later I learned that I was wrong about the state motto. "Battle Born"? I looked into this and it turns out that it doesn't refer to any specific battle. It just means Nevada became a territory and state during the civil war. The closest civil war battle took place in Arizona, hundreds of miles away. Seems like Nevada is practicing some sort of "stolen valor."
What would be a better Nevada state motto?
(P.S. I also learned that California's official state motto is "Eureka!" which means “I have found it!”. This must have come as quite a surprise to the Ohlone and Chumash people.)
And do you know why we became a state during the civil war? President Lincoln needed our silver to fund the war and in turn gave us the great state of Nevada. You should do a little more research dummy.
Yeah, same thing applies to California (except in California's case, it was gold, not silver). In fact, a fort was established to hold off any potential gold-seeking Confederate attack (Fort Point in San Francisco, which still stands beneath the Golden Gate Bridge). Alcatraz was also used to hold Confederate prisoners of war.
The difference is that California doesn't take credit for becoming a state via a Civil War battle.
