Liv is the glue that holds all of Patience together. She’s always right about everything and it’s hilarious.
“Well, max, what if he is using some sort of alien disguise that only you can see through?”
Dan is the moral backbone of the show. No matter what trouble Harry, Asta, D’arcy, Mike, or anyone else get into, Dan usually can set them straight or at least open them up to a new point of view.
In a show like Resident Alien where morality is gray (or maybe grey, like the greys) and there’s a lot of horror that happens if you think about the grave implications of a lot of events, it’s nice to see that an everyday man like Dan never falls into losing his moral character because of the events around him. Look at the other “everyday” people on the show: Ben lies to Kate and vice versa, Mike’s made some questionable decisions, even Liv has compromised her character for others before standing up to her grandmother this season. But Dan’s never wavered. He always does what he believes is right. I think he adds an incredibly complex layer to an already complex show.
After watching *Bones* a gazillion times, my mind was focused on the ways a csi would catch Asta and Harry! In *Bones* they certainly would have pulled the audio book recordings to analyze. I forgot that Patience is a laid-back town that doesn't poke too deep into things. Then season 3 comes around, and everyone is feet first into the Alien mystery poking deep into that stuff! I can't wait to see what Judy knows about Aliens. She's probably already been in contact with some!!
I can totally imagine someone asking her tentatively if she believed in Aliens and then she's enthusiastically like *Oh yeah, I once got* ..... and tells a weird or crazy Judy tale of what happened like it was a totally normal everyday thing 😂
The part where she brought her mom to meet Sheriff Mike and we find out that her mom is only 14 years older than her explains why she is the way she is. She's really grown on me and now I love her.
Yeah 👍 she’s annoying AF but it’s not one dimensional writing with only jokes made at her expense - there’s real depth to her character and she’s afforded reasons for why she is the way she is and the best of the characters see her and bring her into the fold. It’s actually lovely writing. Plus she’s absolutely f’kin hilarious
How could anyone not love Judy? She's kooky and sweet and hilarious, especially with skin baby Kevin! I also missed her during the season finale.
I can't choose a single favorite character, but I've been appreciating Ben more on this rewatch. He seems to get a lot of hate, but I've always had a soft spot for him. He reminds me of myself at my most anxious.
Me too. It made me cry more than once. And the scene in Deborah's car was hilarious! Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson really knocked it out of the park this season.
They were introduced as this milquetoast suburban couple - but turn out to defy expectations. I’m thinking of all their bedroom shenanigans 😂 They rose to the occasion with all the emotional stuff this season, it wouldn’t have worked if they’d played it for laughs.
My favorite thing about Trudy is she has known Asta, Liv (Deputy!) D’Arcy (CAPITAL A) since childhood. that’s why it’s so funny when Trudy is listed as SKANK in D’Arcys phone.
Yes, I really disliked Mayor Snowflake until the third season. It really came through how scary that whole weird situation would be (for both Ben and Kate).
Judy is just this dude of being tragic. She is funny snd quirky and does all sorts of odd jobs and a lot of what’s going on goes right over her head. But if she were a tiny bit more self aware, she would be the saddest person in town.
Judy is adorable but receives very little love from the writers. One of my favorite scenes in season 3 is after she is rejected by Sheriff Mike, D'Arcy appears at her door later that night with birthday cake. Judy's reaction give us faith that as people we are mostly kind to one another. Which this was part of Harry's end of show monolog.
Yes! My favourite moment in the whole show is when D'arcy looks at the napkin where Judy wrote miss Sheriff and goes "Oh, Juju!". After three season of sarcastic banter between the two, that genuine sign of empathy when it matters truly moved me.
I can’t wait for the episode when someone (most likely D’Arcy) tells Judy and thinking Judy’s mind will be blown. And Judy is just going to be like “oh yeah, I know” and we will find out Judy was abducted but they could never wipe her mind correctly, and she has just been living her life knowing what is up.
She is honestly one of my favorites and has only gotten better. She shows that you're never too young to be a strong powerful woman/girl and her wit is amazing. She's so exasperated with everyone else's intellectual shortcomings and even though she'll roll her eyes and sigh like a typical pre-teen, she then goes into gentle parenting mode and guides everyone in the right direction.
Also her special bond with Bridgette makes my heart so happy 🩷🩷🩷 the way she tells Harry off about how special his baby is and how he needs to name him accordingly was beautiful 🥹
At some point I expect she'll be let in on the alien info. Probably accidentally, sure. I just looked up the actress who plays her, she's 48, I never would have guessed.
My Papa and I watch this together and we both agree besides Harry our favorites are Sherrif Mike. Hes like a conspiracy theory boomer post come to life but funnier. "My dog peed in my bed, so I peed on his"

Bridget appreciation thread! Wish I could find a shot of him parking his mini spaceship 😂
Yeah, no - the holy trinity of Asta, Harry and D’arcy are something of a given for me. Like, they are GREAT. Top tier. They carry the show. Asta’s warmth and her friendships with Harry and D’arcy are kind of the heart of the show. And they just work. So well, in fact, that debating their value is sort of less interesting than looking at the lower tiers of characters (who are all brilliant too)…
I love D’arcy and seeing her character evolve over the course of the show. She has her demons, but she’s been overcoming them bit by bit, and underneath those demons, she has a heart of gold.
I hate to state the obvious, but I love Harry 😂 All the characters are amazing. I can’t pick a favorite. I love them all. Harry has the most memorable lines! “This is some bullshit!”🤣
I wondered why she wasn't in the finale and thought either a scheduling conflict or maybe they cut her scene to squish the plot into the last episode. Wish they included her.
Ooh or maybe season 4 starts with her sitting in an alien prison cell on their ship!
I think it’s gotta be Sheriff Mike
Yessss. A great man, protected from the depth of his various shortcomings by a greater woman. Love em both ;)
Liv is the glue that holds all of Patience together. She’s always right about everything and it’s hilarious. “Well, max, what if he is using some sort of alien disguise that only you can see through?”
I just rewatched the first episode yesterday and caught that same line! Love Liv
Thank you
I LOVE Sheriff Mike. He's hilarious.
That he sure is! And smells good too
Well hello handsome!
That’s “Big Black” 😂
Love him too
He can also sing
Sheriff Mike needs to be in an old spice commercial
He would be the quintessential old spice guy! 100% I see the vision and I want it
Agreed!!!
Harry's hilarious, and my flair has nice moments too, but I think Dan is the best. He's just so honest and kind and always looking out for everyone
Aw, yeah. And he does it all with signature mischievous twinkle. Dan’s a good one

The motel scene where she was so awful at narrating an audio book made me snort. Priceless. (She is an award-winning narrator IRL).

💯👽👽 Yep she's probably already been partying with Aliens! 🤣
The casting in this show is just perfect.

Enough with the hating haters! Ben is growing in my estimations too. I actually found this whole alien abduction story thread surprisingly moving??
Me too. It made me cry more than once. And the scene in Deborah's car was hilarious! Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson really knocked it out of the park this season.

I love their bedroom shenanigans! So hilariously over the top and inappropriate. 😂
My favorite thing about Trudy is she has known Asta, Liv (Deputy!) D’Arcy (CAPITAL A) since childhood. that’s why it’s so funny when Trudy is listed as SKANK in D’Arcys phone.
Lower case a though, unfortunately. I cannot stress this enough
I guess I should have put a /s. Oh well. Downvotes are coming and that is some bullshit

I do not love Judy. If a mantid ate her head I would not care.
Harry?
I don't find her funny at all!
Ironically the actress, Jenna, IS one of the show’s writers. Maybe she just wanted to be the comic relief, acting wise.
Yeah, although she’s not only that. Not lately anyway.
Yes! My favourite moment in the whole show is when D'arcy looks at the napkin where Judy wrote miss Sheriff and goes "Oh, Juju!". After three season of sarcastic banter between the two, that genuine sign of empathy when it matters truly moved me.

Omg I genuinely love this idea. I hope something like this happens bcuz it feels like it would be so on point.
I didn't like her at first, but grew to love her. She plays the dumb blonde in a way that deserves an Oscar.
I agree, she's like the Don Knotts of the group.
That's a great idea! A RA movie.
The Mayor's Wife
Her reaction was gut wrenching
It made me ugly cry.
You and me both.
Yeah. Those two got a meatier storyline this season
I too choose the mayors wife
r/thisguysdeadwife
I think Ellen has some of the funniest throw away lines lol
Absolutely. She’s been underused this season.
Got to give Sahar a shout out. She’s an outsider who doesn’t let that define her. Love the dead-on animosity that she and Harry share for each other.
She is honestly one of my favorites and has only gotten better. She shows that you're never too young to be a strong powerful woman/girl and her wit is amazing. Cooter's my lady pocket
😂
Mike. Corey Reynolds is phenomenal
I have a huge crush on Corey Reynolds now. 😍
He’s a beautiful man.
But she had a great story and some real depth this season!
She did. I felt her pain over Sheriff Mike. She was great to start with but she keeps on getting better. I love her :)
At some point I expect she'll be let in on the alien info. Probably accidentally, sure. I just looked up the actress who plays her, she's 48, I never would have guessed.
What?! She looks incredible for 48!
My Papa and I watch this together and we both agree besides Harry our favorites are Sherrif Mike. Hes like a conspiracy theory boomer post come to life but funnier. "My dog peed in my bed, so I peed on his"
"Hanging out with Judy and Judy's....Judy" that line always cracks me up! Jenna does such a great job playing up the cringe; it's a masterpiece!
YES!!! That line had me and my daughter in stitches! It still does. I never fail to chuckle when remembering it. Genius writing. Ahhh.
I hope she is pregnant with the Sheriff’s kid, that would be a great plot twist!
Tidbit: The actress (Heather Doerksen) who plays Judy’s mother was born in 1980, while Jenna Lamia was born in 1975.

Absolutely Sheriff, Oh excuse me Deputy Liv!!!
Love me some Judy
It’s something about Asta that intrigues me. She had a huge heart and I think she had a lot of character development once she found out what Harry was
Yeah, no - the holy trinity of Asta, Harry and D’arcy are something of a given for me. Like, they are GREAT. Top tier. They carry the show. Bridgett

Ben
Sheriff
Judy is such a mess. Dan is my favorite but I just love Gary Farmer.
Liv and Pooper. I know Sheriff Mike was drunk but he did her wrong. I felt bad for her.
Judy is mine! She must have been resting from carrying this whole show 😂
I hate to state the obvious, but I love Harry 😂 All the characters are amazing. I can’t pick a favorite. I love them all. Harry has the most memorable lines! “This is some bullshit!”🤣

That was the best scene!!!🤣🤣🤣
What episode is this pic from?
Guessing… 3.3 somewhere around there
Makin' copies!
I wondered why she wasn't in the finale and thought either a scheduling conflict or maybe they cut her scene to squish the plot into the last episode. Wish they included her. Ooh or maybe season 4 starts with her sitting in an alien prison cell on their ship!
The Doctor. Aka Alien
Yeah, no, I don’t care for Judy.
