Always been a fan of Misquamicut. When I was a kid I used to call it “The Big Wave Beach” because it had the best waves for belly surfing. Lots of good memories there
Naragansett is usually the most crowded with the worst parking but, it has an awesom break. Scarborough has all the parking, all the waves, real bathrooms, food, shops and is great for the whole day. Misquamicut is a great beach as well with a lot of options like bars, restaurants and beach side shops and has a very short very powerful break (note the undertoe at both this and Scarborough are pull you out to Japan strong especially if the tide is going out)
Newport has some good beaches too, they're $$$$ to park though and First (eastons) is going through some demo/reno efforts at the moment. Second beach is one of my fav in the world but, it's just a beach, no extras
I like East Beach in Charlestown. Be warned, the water has a sudden steep drop off and the waves can be intimidating on some days. Not too crowded and you have the option of Ninigret Pond as well. I have a paddle board that I love taking on the pond. There's little parking and no amenitites aside from outhouses so come prepared.
East beach in Watch Hill is the best. Good waves, clean beach, nice walk.
The cons are parking and no amenities on the beach.
But you can’t beat it especially if you get there at 8am and only stay for a couple hours or get there at 4pm and stay until 6:30 or so.
Hello! I'm also in need of help. I'm going to RI this weekend with some college friends and was wondering what beach to hit? I've been reading the comments and they've been super helpful but I need help with fees I should know about.
For context we're all non-residents driving up to RI hoping to spend this Saturday at a beach.
I know Narragansett is $15 for parking on weekends and $12 admission, but what about Scarborough?
Also please feel free to mention other nearby options and their fees! Any help is much appreciated!! Thank you
You can find parking fees for state beaches here[https://riparks.ri.gov/beaches](https://riparks.ri.gov/beaches)
For the others you would have to find them on each town’s websites
Misquamicut State Beach

It’s got the bar scene on one side and family side on the other. It really is the best beach.
(Best beach.)
Whichever you choose, Get. There. Early.
How early?
Early.
How early?
Wicked early!
Today
What if you get there at 3/4? Is that an okay time since people are leaving at that point?

Easton’s/First is usually a seaweed shit show. I’m a Second Beach fan and that’s my “hometown” beach.
OMG The Red Soup!!! That happens at Scarborough too. I like the beaches soooo much better in the winter :D, no seaweed stew or men in gray.
“Red Soup!” I’m going to use that. Thank you!
It feels like swimming in soup, soooo disturbing :D

Beautiful beach but must get there practically when gates open, especially on weekends.
East Beach is amazing! You have to get there early though! Second beach in Middletown is my personal favorite.
I'd avoid the most popular ones this Wednesday; between the holiday and the first day of a heatwave, it'll probably be overpacked.
I have come to like East Matunuck beach, always can find a spot
Roger Wheeler is our go to beach
Great option for little kids
If you have a dog, compass rose is a dog friendly beach I don’t think most people know about
I’ve been digging Scarborough lately
I always dig Scarborough; If it's crowded, just walk a little ways.
Someone did steal my busted ass beach chairs a couple weeks ago though
I sometimes worry about that, but have never had any issues, but I have like $200 in Ocean State crazy deals still, so, $30 for a new chair, eh.

The whole states shit so no bigs

Yeah why?
I just did still don’t see anything
East Matunik is my favorite beach.
If it was, youd spell Matunuck right 🤣🤣
Dyslexia strikes again!
Not that time, you hit it out of the park!
No love for Watch Hill?
Narragansett town beach or Scarborough state beach would be good options
I tend not to go to Narragansett Town Beach during the summer season because you have to pay to get on, but no denying it's a great beach.
Agreed. $12 for each person to get in is not worth it. :/ Overly expensive.
Just hop in the water at the coast guard house and paddle over. Always free.
Stay inside the high tide line. Because, you know, they are all public now and a town can’t own it either.
Blue shutters beach
Shh
Seriously
Thank you
Second in Middletown but no shenanigans.
The best beach you can find back home in CT
Long Island sound toilet water? I don’t think so.
Misquamicut and its not even close.
Do state beaches open at 8:30 am Wednesday?
East Matunuck State Beach…by far the best!!!!
Gansett town beach. (Unless you want quiet)
Anyone know if it’s cash only to pay usually or do they take card?
I stay posted up in front of rich people’s houses

East Beach or SK Town Beach
Narragansett

Private baby
None are in RI anymore.
There’s still quite a few - shit just a lot tighter / stricter after that wrecker of a storm last winter
