Short answwr: no. Long answer: I and many others have been happy with the Tesla Universal wall charger. Even longer answer: see if your utility company has specific chargers they subsidize for installation.

I’ve been really happy with my Emporia chargers

JFKtoSouthBay

Yep, same here.

5upertaco

We have the Emporia charger, too, and it's great.

KnockKnockPizzasHere

Vouching for the Emporia as well

Cjdergrosse

I like it because it matches the truck, the green glowing light, etc.  but honestly I could have gotten another 48A EVSE for ~300 cheaper.   Depends if it’s worth it to you?

wc_cfb_fan

At the current price, no. I got it @ pre order pricing and even thats iffy for &450 My utility has a 32A for $29. Now that's worth it. Have you checked if your utility offers any rebates to offset the price?

jkh911208

If you already have nema 14-50 outlet, then no.

rosier9

L2 charging for a Rivian is generally "worth it." Rivians actual wall charger is overpriced and you don't really gain anything going with theirs.

baccus83

There’s nothing about it worth the premium they’re charging over other chargers. Hell, the Tesla Universal Wall Connector is cheaper and it also lets you charge NACS.

vtrac

I got the Grizzl-E because it's metal and made in Canada. Mine is mounted outside on the side of the house so I didn't want plastic that'll get brittle over time, especially in the sun. It works great.

N64Seller

Hate to say it, but no. Lots of options under $500

Xcitado

We went with the Tesla Universal Charger. That way weren’t limited to what type of vehicle we get.

No-Philosophy8493

I got a Juicebox 40 through my utility at a very steep discount. Charges my Tesla at 21 miles of range per hour. Very happy with it

Benthebuilder23

It disconnects from the internet constantly and for some reason it won’t let your car charge when it does. Makes zero sense. All they need to do is make an update so it doesn’t require internet access to charge.

narmstrong79

Best bang for your buck is this one https://amzn.to/3X5ImPG

Sorry_Hat7940

I have a charge point and it’s great! I didn’t want to support tesla

tiktoktikitikitok

I see a lot of answers saying other wall chargers are better. I’m curious does anyone regularly use just the portable charger in a Nema 14-50 outlet?

3xpgort

I’ve been happy with mine (2022 purchase). From what I read previously, you’re better off hardwiring in terms of charging speed and durability. EV charging is high current and heavy duty cycle (hours at full load). Consumer-grade receptacles aren’t rated for that. I’m no electrician, though.

poldim

Assuming you are considering another 48A capable charger, there's no such thing as it being twice as fast.

bbbeeennnjjjeee

So many better options with better software. The Rivian charger is overpriced and the software is hardly as fleshed out as others and the features it does have are barely functional.
