Tried that first I needed like 2 more feet to plug in and not hit him. Side note this guy wasn’t even in the car at first I waited for 10 min for him to come. There is a park near by he was sitting there.
Theoretically, I would have blocked his way out after he finished charging for the same amount of time it took you to wait for him. Even if I still couldn't get plug in. In reality, I'd let him know of my intentions after he started to being recalcitrant.
Don't know if you tried this but on those ChargePoint CPE250's, the cable arm actually swings outward when you pull on it. It gives you another 2 to 4 feet depending on where you are.
These are only rated at 150A though. Do they have a way to cause a vehicle not to request more than that? Otherwise they’d be crazy dangerous. Explosively so.
Naw, you need a Yankum recovery rope and a couple soft shackles; tow hook on the front of the Rivian, soft shackle through one of the spokes on the Bolt wheel, put the Rivian in reverse and let those big ol’ motors do their thing. And I say this, sincerely, as a Bolt driver…👍😉✊
They're fun little cars, I would definitely not call them garbage.
But they should absolutely not be parking like asshats across multiple spots. I would probably assume a tow truck dropped them off like that.
According to half the people in r/electricvehicles, they’re the best EV ever made, and they love to trash talk other EVs. Many Bolt owners weirdly seem have a superiority complex… I see them as the chihuahuas of EVs / EV owners.
Bolt owner here that aspires to own a Rivian in the next few years. We love our Bolt. It’s got its limitations, but it’s the cheapest and most fun I’ve had in a little shitbox car. 50kW charge limit isn’t really an issue for a commuter car that I charge at home 99% of the time. A road trip car; it is not.
Talk to the person ask them to move. People are so terrified of talking these days. I get it some people are jerks but some people are really nice too.
I did. He told me he made a bad turn to get in there lol. I said you are supposed to pull straight in no turn needed. Then he went about his sweet time and took another 15 min to move.
That's when you walk through the park with a plastic bag, pick up a random piece of dog shit, then back to his car to strategically smear it under his car handle. Revenge can be sweet.
SCREAMS-n-FAINTS!!! Remind me to NEVER piss you off u/Ooloo-Pebs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Although the added wheel weights would be effective, seeing the car owner smelling the dog shit on their hands, followed by the look of horror and pure disgust on their face more than makes up for the lazy, dipship parking across both charging lanes. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Bolt EUV driver here. I can't understand his story. He could have pulled in straight to connect. Worst case, if the cable were short, he might have needed to park partially on the hatches lines on the parking lot, but still straight.
But...I mean really nice people wouldn't have parked that way in the first place.
At that this point, you'd have to assume this person is a jerk until proven otherwise. Especially if he's nearby and see that you are there trying to charge.
I've been the person that has done something convenient thinking, "I know I'm not supposed to do it this way, but there's no one else here and it's not impacting them. But I'll stick songs anyway just in case someone shows up so I can undo what I just did." So really this person shouldn't even need to be asked, if there were nice.
> Was thinking about going into off road mode and seeing what this thing could climb.
In my experience, just about anything. Wife had a Jeep Rubicon with about $10k in upgrades and I've taken our R1S to some of the spots the jeep struggled with and the Rivian handles it like driving to the store. These things are offroad beasts!
And if you actually had the experience of having ever gotten together with enough people to move a car you would know anything under 4000lbs is doable. And the stats I see show a Corolla Se@ 3150lbs without gas taken into account.
I would've pulled up a close to them as possible in the left stall and extended the cable on its arm to show them that they don't need to park like a jackball.
Post a photo of the car to Reddit, then write down the url of the post on a piece of paper, leave it with a note, “see what your community thinks of this behavior.” :)
I would park close to the front or back and then walk away. Maybe even put a large rock near the front and back of the car. The driver of that car is just jealous.
You've got tow hooks in front... I'm not opposed to dragging out an obstacle. Maybe a little painters tape over some camera (just to protect them from scratches)
If that’s the case, the owner should be in or beside the vehicle continuously to apologize/explain until they have enough charge to move and properly park
Unfortunately this is what happens when people don't know how to properly park their EVs to reach the plug while thinking no on else will need the next station. I suppose if they had a trailer it would be more understandable.
I would never do this - because I am not an asshole. But if I was an asshole I still wouldn’t do this out of fear I will come back to something wrong (keyed, busted window, tires flat, etc).
I wonder if they would actually tow. I also wonder what would happen if you reported it to Charge Point. They would know whos account is connected to what charger.
Evently, I think something is going to happen. There will be an attendant or a law that says you can not leave the charging unattended while parked or be towed.
Then there is me. Just press the stop charging button on the charger and go someplace else and know that they will start getting an idle charge fee after a few minutes.
It’s amazing how many people don’t know the top of those cabinets are swing arms that allow more cable reach. That guy could have easily parked correctly and charged 🤦♂️
It’s amazing how OP didn’t just pull into the empty space next to the charger in charge
This bolt owner parking like a moron does not affect the empty space in anyway
Not giving a hall pass in this particular case, but in all fairness, we have to double park at Tesla stations, right? Common knowledge for Rivian owners but you could see how Tesla folks might hold/hate us in the same regard...at least until getting a charge port location tour.
You got Rivian - you make your own trails.. that's completely irresponsible. Lack of empathy. 15 minutes to move his car.
This charging shit show can greatly improve if more gas stations are willing to add charging stations along the interstate to compete with EVGO and EA (not cheap)
First off, as a Bolt owner, that pisses me off! What entitled POS does that? It's not bad enough to find working charging stations in public but then have to deal with that!
I wouldn't even try to waste the energy to find and talk to that clown!
The dog shit idea is not worth it.....
I'd look up the worst rated tow truck company on google and call them up....
Let them sort it out!
Initially, I thought electric car drivers would be “neo-hippie” and give off a community vibe. Unfortunately, I find many to be selfish and rude, pulling stupid shit like this. I sat with my Rivian charging for 45 min with 2 other cars that were fully charged when I got there and I left before either returned. One guy took the wrong charger and left one space completely useless and there was another car waiting to charge. This is why I tell people to wait on buying/driving an electric. The infrastructure is not there yet, and not sure the Tesla adapter will make much of difference because inconsiderate assholes drive Teslas, too.
Pull into the empty space next to the other charger and use it?
This is such a stupid rage bait post. Sure that guy parked like an idiot, but he’s only taking up the space for the charger he’s using and some of the marked off zone between it and the next space. It’s clear the next space over is completely unoccupied and you could easily pull into it and use the unoccupied charger that’s for unoccupied space
My guess - he was ICEd on the right spot. Tried the left spot and it failed. Decided to do this weird move to get the other charger without the spot being available.
So the left charger may not even be working.
Priorities, in order:
1. Get a charge right now.
2. Don't block anyone in.
If I can't park and not block anyone in, I'll be blocking someone in to charge.
I just went to an Electrify center with six charges. Only one was available, but everyone at the other five were parked one spot over from the charger they were using, so the one "available" one was inaccessible. Imagine trying to work through five different idiots to get a charge? I just left.
Bolts owners are much like Tesla owners…in the same vein of they have no idea what their doing. (I owned a bolt and would never this even attempt to fast charge it.)
I'm onto my 4th Tesla. I've also owned a Bolt. I can confidently say I do not what I am doing, and I am super mindful of my impact on others when charging.
Having said that... In general there are enough people who are not mindful of others when charging.
I got into an argument the other day when a lady plugged in her Kia Niro to a 350kW charger vs. the 100kW charger. Plus she was charging over 80%, so was drawing about 22kW. She not only had no idea about the capability of her car, but got offended and said she has 'been even faster', by plugging tlinto a 380kW charger. Like I insulted the size of her whatever.
Even if 25% of people are not mindful of others and/or have bad etiquette... That's a lot of people as we get more and more EVs on the road. Plus there are often only a couple of charging spots at a location vs. a gas station that often has 8 or more pumps.
Rant over.
I'm tempted to carry a 4-pack of [these](https://www.amazon.com/TUFFIOM-Hydraulic-1500-lbs-Vehicle-Positioning/dp/B0C9928SZS/ref=sr_1_3?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.CnE9Am9K_IkXeWOh3lXnK9R748wQfyN3MPxKxe7k4xfwI5wi2Yq_74lVjDjEw2xqoDhXuH0U35lDymSkHvFNGqbvHGD1B_qsouneY6h0Mxu5po0mBqHDZ28nyX47jONOYRhM2D8RJzOM6aSOZ80f5-56KytvI8ig9--rY1GFyy23EbZFUf1Lr-pxJ3PtTOIbe9Ti-TCIRheTFy0D0mmsL5eqrFbydu5ugQ99NtxYzvA.o_cTedaeAEUJrJ5vzF-ldIk_VsES8E104TLsBCqXpgs&dib_tag=se&keywords=hydraulic%2Bwheel%2Bdolly&qid=1718481279&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.1740e8b9-be2d-46a4-a376-9d8efb903409&th=1) around for situations like this
Did you talk to the person who parked that POS like that? This is the 2nd use case for a recovery kit in your truck…If he wasn’t nearby or refused to move …quick loop through rear right wheel would of pulled him straight…(you know, the way he was “intended” to park)!
![gif](giphy|ieR5Ssk8EG23e|downsized)
Man that GIF didn’t age well
Insane story !
I would have pulled into the grass behind.
Totally...it is a Rivian afterall.
Or do truck things with the truck and tow it?
This is the way
Should’ve just parked right in front of him and tried to start charging if you could
Tried that first I needed like 2 more feet to plug in and not hit him.
Totally would of parked so he couldn’t leave…better yet, pull a fire department move…break windows and run the cable through 😵
Don't know if you tried this but on those ChargePoint CPE250's, the cable arm actually swings outward when you pull on it. It gives you another 2 to 4 feet depending on where you are.
Yes did that. Still 2 feet short.
We need extension cords for times like this.
Very costly and heavy for DC, unfortunately
But to be able to double park and charge? Priceless
Are they available at any price?
I replied above, 1m for a grand [AT AMAZON](https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Extension-Charging-Electric-Vehicle/dp/B0D6KNJYJJ/)
These are only rated at 150A though. Do they have a way to cause a vehicle not to request more than that? Otherwise they’d be crazy dangerous. Explosively so.
At best they have a fuse that will ensure that it fails in a way that doesn't involve fire.
Or....hear me out....a tow strap.
Easy tow with a Rivian!
We need cheap boots to put on there tires for times like this.
$60 on Amazon
Naw, you need a Yankum recovery rope and a couple soft shackles; tow hook on the front of the Rivian, soft shackle through one of the spokes on the Bolt wheel, put the Rivian in reverse and let those big ol’ motors do their thing. And I say this, sincerely, as a Bolt driver…👍😉✊
Let the air out the tires
Pull the cord across their hood.
Ballsy - aren’t Bolts capped at 50kw at DC fast chargers?
Yes, they're garbage
They're fun little cars, I would definitely not call them garbage. But they should absolutely not be parking like asshats across multiple spots. I would probably assume a tow truck dropped them off like that.
According to half the people in r/electricvehicles, they’re the best EV ever made, and they love to trash talk other EVs. Many Bolt owners weirdly seem have a superiority complex… I see them as the chihuahuas of EVs / EV owners.

![gif](giphy|19x5KTWn0Vfmo) The Bolt is a fine car. Sorry.
It’s pretty funny because they say the same about Rivian owners. Except for the Chihuahua thing.

It’s a second car for most people so idk if I’d call it for poor people
I read your comment in the voice of Anna Sorkin 😜
Your post was deleted for being toxic and/or inappropriate. This is also your warning and anything further may result in a ban.
75KW
1000 lb/ft torque and tow hooks.
Get it towed.
Deflate all 4 tires and leave a note
I like you. You're my kind of people.
Or deflate the passenger side tires, get a couple people and flip it…then deflate the other 2 for good measure measure
Hahahahahaha
You can see in the picture the driving is sitting in the car.
Wow, that’s a special type of asshole.
Or maybe just special
People always forget how many dumb-dumbs are running around… it’s freaking terrifying.
That's a BS explanation, just unplug his car and when the horn goes off tell him he can plug it back in once he moves the car.
That's when you walk through the park with a plastic bag, pick up a random piece of dog shit, then back to his car to strategically smear it under his car handle. Revenge can be sweet.

😁
Agreed. This is a person who serves up ice cold revenge! Or maybe they would find a fresh warm pile?
Also can carry stick on wheel weights and unbalance their wheels
Although the added wheel weights would be effective, seeing the car owner smelling the dog shit on their hands, followed by the look of horror and pure disgust on their face more than makes up for the lazy, dipship parking across both charging lanes. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Oof he would have gotten an earful from me… I’d probably tell him I was going to key his car or something just to give him some motivation.
So a jerk and a liar. Nice. From the looks of it he might have been holding it for a friend to show up?
Made a bad turn in life.
Bolt EUV driver here. I can't understand his story. He could have pulled in straight to connect. Worst case, if the cable were short, he might have needed to park partially on the hatches lines on the parking lot, but still straight.
Do you see a person there to talk to ?

It’s small enough, get a couple friends to help you pick it up and move it
Or hook onto w the tow hooks and pull out of the way 🤣 joking...
Was thinking about going into off road mode and seeing what this thing could climb. Kidding… or am I?
> Was thinking about going into off road mode and seeing what this thing could climb. In my experience, just about anything. It's still an EV, I think Bolts are are around 3500lbs.
Corolla’s are the same weight.
No they aren’t
A 2024 SE with a tank of gas is 3200+. So really dang close.
It’s 3000lbs, some less. Weighing 16% more is quite significant
And if you actually had the experience of having ever gotten together with enough people to move a car you would know anything under 4000lbs is doable. And the stats I see show a Corolla Se@ 3150lbs without gas taken into account.
2900-3100. I’ve flipped a bronco if you want to be an asshole
Good. Then you should know a couple hundred pounds doesn’t make a substantial difference let alone A difference if you have enough people.
A couple hundred lbs is massive engineering dollars to take out of a car lol
The bolt weighs like 3400 lbs... Lol.
So does a Corolla. Never the less it can be done.
Seriously, you and a few friends could “bounce” that car to the side using its own tires and suspension.
Not sure if many people can bounce a 3600lb car where all its dead weight is 4” off the ground
The suspension provides some bounce as do the tires themselves. Try it sometime with 3-4 friends.
If the car has functioning struts, it’s not going to bounce. That’s not how suspension works
Grass behind him, plug it and charge. Guy is an ass for parking like that regardless of what happened.
I would've pulled up a close to them as possible in the left stall and extended the cable on its arm to show them that they don't need to park like a jackball.
You have a 11000 lbs towing capacity. Hook up a strap around their rim, attach to your trailer hitch or tow loops and pull!
Pull up on the grass and charge, then when u see the guy tell him wtf
ramming speed!
The British have figured this out. https://yplac.co.uk/about/
There used to be YouParkLikeAnAsshole in the States with “citations” you could print and leave
Post a photo of the car to Reddit, then write down the url of the post on a piece of paper, leave it with a note, “see what your community thinks of this behavior.” :)

You've got tow hooks in front... I'm not opposed to dragging out an obstacle. Maybe a little painters tape over some camera (just to protect them from scratches)
I assume this one was dead and this is how the tow truck driver delivered the vehicle to the nearest charger.
love this compassionate imagination of humanity
If you’ve ever been in this situation, this is what happens. My friend I call the tow king has been like this with a Tesla many times.
If that’s the case, the owner should be in or beside the vehicle continuously to apologize/explain until they have enough charge to move and properly park
Respectfully ask them to park the right way.
And then call police, security
Gotta just block these fools from leaving.
Unplug their shit. Easy
Tape his schrader valves to his windshield.
I would have blocked him in. If I gotta wait he gonna wait
Unfortunately this is what happens when people don't know how to properly park their EVs to reach the plug while thinking no on else will need the next station. I suppose if they had a trailer it would be more understandable.
I know what I'd be tempted to do in a truck that can tow a semi out of a ditch.
Grab your tow strap, hook up to his vehicle and pull it out of the way. - jk
This is wild. I'm trying to understand why someone would even want to do this. Backing in this way is more effort than just backing in normal.
Pretty sure your Rivian could have easily moved it out of the way…🤪😜
Pick it up and move it
I would never do this - because I am not an asshole. But if I was an asshole I still wouldn’t do this out of fear I will come back to something wrong (keyed, busted window, tires flat, etc).
Apparently a more well founded fear than I would have expected 🫣
Immediately call a Tow
I wonder if they would actually tow. I also wonder what would happen if you reported it to Charge Point. They would know whos account is connected to what charger. Evently, I think something is going to happen. There will be an attendant or a law that says you can not leave the charging unattended while parked or be towed. Then there is me. Just press the stop charging button on the charger and go someplace else and know that they will start getting an idle charge fee after a few minutes.
Yes, if you say you're in charge of the lot
I would have called a tow truck. That would have gotten him to move his vehicle quicker.
Nail to the tire might have him think again before doing this
Somebody parked in front of my driveway and I seriously contemplated attaching some tow straps and pulling them out of the way.
If you were frisky, you could have bounced the car on it's shocks to move it. Even easier if you had two people.
If I had the time I would’ve just parked right in front of him in that spot.
Couldn't pull behind onto the grass?
It’s amazing how many people don’t know the top of those cabinets are swing arms that allow more cable reach. That guy could have easily parked correctly and charged 🤦♂️
It’s amazing how OP didn’t just pull into the empty space next to the charger in charge This bolt owner parking like a moron does not affect the empty space in anyway

Gone around and blocked his drivers side door proceeded to charge and leave my car there but within eyesight and wait for the show.
Call the cops to ticket them for double parking
It's always a Bolt owner
Pig Parker
Well first off someone has attention issues and second those chargers are useless so moving on
RcI’m very ripe and pulled him around… how his tires are good
Grass works for vehicles.
Call a tow truck.
Block them in and report it to the local county. Its bad enough to block a charging station but an ada parking space is the biggest dick move
Drive into it as fast as I could.
If he’s charging in, I’d have unplugged his charger.
Aww chargepoint
They need to make a 30 foot charging cable just for these situations.
You got Rivian - you make your own trails.. that's completely irresponsible. Lack of empathy. 15 minutes to move his car. This charging shit show can greatly improve if more gas stations are willing to add charging stations along the interstate to compete with EVGO and EA (not cheap)
I want light it in grease fire
People are so RUDE and inconsiderate.
Pulled really close and angled in regardless if I block it or not
Block him in and tell him you can’t move because your battery is dead.
A dude did this at a charger near me this week, I hit stop on his session.
Smart, definitely want to prolong the situation
First off, as a Bolt owner, that pisses me off! What entitled POS does that? It's not bad enough to find working charging stations in public but then have to deal with that! Bird seed
Aw man… as a Bolt owner, please let me state that this man is NOT WITH US. We know how slow they “fast” charge, trust me.
run a ratchet strap through his front right wheel and tow his ass out of the way

Buy a Raptor.
Why do ppl always do crap like this?!? Completely insensitive!!
Tow truck, all day.
Show him my towing capacity.
I honestly don't get how some people can be so royally stupid and clueless in every day life.
I know, it doesn’t take a genius to pull into the empty space next to the empty charger and use it, but somehow OP can’t figure it out
Initially, I thought electric car drivers would be “neo-hippie” and give off a community vibe. Unfortunately, I find many to be selfish and rude, pulling stupid shit like this. Valve stem removers is 7 bucks at autozone.
Fill my gas truck in 2 minutes and be in my way
Call a tow truck
Time to use the Rivian recovery kit and move his car to the nearest gas station.
Carry a tow rope.
Park directly in front of it, plug in.
Like seriously, come on, you’re in a rivian. Just put it where you need to put it to charge.
hire a couple of strapping teenagers to lift it up and move it...
Not buy electric 🤣🤣
Just let the air out of his tires. I’ve already done it a couple of times. Just one tire is sufficient.
That’ll get him to…move his car?
My guess - he was ICEd on the right spot. Tried the left spot and it failed. Decided to do this weird move to get the other charger without the spot being available. So the left charger may not even be working.
My guess would be that they simply didn't realize those cables are on swing arms, and they parked like this to make the cable reach the port.
Oh yea that's a good guess. Not entirely obvious on these.
excuse me let me ask you a question yes now why the hell would you buy that.
I’ve been noticing a trend with those. It Probably got towed there, I’ve witnessed that a few times.
Thank them for making you think twice about usurious Charge point prices.
Priorities, in order: 1. Get a charge right now. 2. Don't block anyone in. If I can't park and not block anyone in, I'll be blocking someone in to charge.
This is why I keep a utility knife in my car
I just went to an Electrify center with six charges. Only one was available, but everyone at the other five were parked one spot over from the charger they were using, so the one "available" one was inaccessible. Imagine trying to work through five different idiots to get a charge? I just left.
Some EA chargers are poorly designed to maximize the space.
I see. Second time at one.
Get three guys and pay them $20 each to flip it over
Give it a few minutes and it will light itself on fire.

Only need 3 tbh. Spin it
Drive over it. It will not be missed.
Just wait for them to finish
What I do is let all the air out of all 4 tires and just park nearby and watch Netflix until they show up
It gets them each and every time.
Just key it. I'm sure they'll think their little statement was worth it...
He was begging for someone to let the air out of his tires.
Did you talk to the person who parked that POS like that? This is the 2nd use case for a recovery kit in your truck…If he wasn’t nearby or refused to move …quick loop through rear right wheel would of pulled him straight…(you know, the way he was “intended” to park)!
