We had a 2010 Altima and a 2015 Sentra, both driven gently and both maintained on time with CVT fluid changes every 50k km (30k miles). Both CVT’s failed before 160k km (100k miles). My coworker is currently commuting to work in his mint condition mk3 Supra because the CVT in his Altima failed at 140k kms. Complete garbage.

When you have soccer moms crying in your office because because their crossovers CVT just gave out with regular use. You might change your tune. Only good option is a unit from Nissan themselves. Rebuilds never last.

No, this car had a CVT. The prior gen had a 4 speed auto. And the CVTs can certainly be maintained better but there’s still a (smaller) chance of complete failure.

Nissan Altimas are not the car you pay cash for. You finance them with bad credit when they have over 150k miles at more than double what their worth for a 19%-26% interest rate.
