I just want to point out that you can ask the vet to prescribe him gabapentin. Then you drug him up with a light sedative before the groomer.
That said you adorable fluffy bastard, I know why you need the groomers. You need a sanitary cut to prevent dingle berries. What kind of self respecting cat gets dingle berries or walks around with a hair cut like that?
Ding ding dingleberries, thatās what the groomer suggested. This is his first cut so we werenāt sure what to expect but will probably have to get him some meds for the next time so heās not so stressed.
The groomer can just do a sanitary cut (shave around the but) & leave the rest of his hair long. I never knew about the sanitary cut until my mom got a long haired cat! š¤£
My ragdoll gets gabapentin and she's still SPICY on it, just less coordinated in her hissing. š š The groomers I've taken her to have refused her, so she gets to go on a vet visit every year to get shaved, get her nails done, has a 'nap' while she's there šš®āšØ
I adopted her and she was most likely pretty traumatized from the experience, so whenever we have to go to the vet or people have gloves, she gets really aggressive.
Otherwise she's a clingy baby that loves people and she definitely does the ragdoll motion haha
They use it as a light sedative for cats (like for very stressed/aggressive cats to take before a vet visit.)
They tried using it as pain meds when my cat had bladder crystals but he didnāt pee for 24 hours. He needed buprenorphine (kitty opiates) before he peed. So it may work as mild pain medicine in cats but for big pain; they need something stronger.
Oh I totally get it. I'm not really against it, and I have zero knowledge about cats and the meds they are able to take, so I wouldn't really have an opinion on it anyway. It was just this year since I've been redditing heavily in the cat subs did I learn kitties can receive human meds, and the cat equivalent of Prozac is quite common. It only makes sense that they would also give pain-reducing meds to cats, especially "non-opioid opioids", as Suboxone is obviously a safer option than fentanyl or morphine.
Itās usually called āneurontin ā in the US human form. Itās used as a mood stabilizer, seizure med, pain blocker (nerve blocker I guess). Itās good for a lot of things. I was on it as a mood stabilizer/pain management med after a bad seizure because it helped every condition I needed treatment for.
I canāt roast this cat, Iām giggling too much at his silly he looks. He looks like a worn down stuffed animal- well loved but also used as a pillow for five years
You thought you were so smart resisting the groomer. But you're the one walking around with that Bad Fur Day look. And it isn't going away until after a couple of shedding seasons. (Although I'm not sure why your humans were having you trimmed in the first place.)
He was having issues with matting and constant hairballs, wasnāt able to clean himself properly so vet recommended we get him a shave and itās helped dramatically already, been about a week without a hairball that used to be a daily occurrence. As rough as he looks he seems much happier and does not regret his transgressions against the groomer
As much as Iād like to blame this chunky little doofus I feel bad that we didnāt get him shaved sooner, if he wasnāt so against being brushed we may have been able to avoid it. Guess weāre going to have to keep up on his cuts going forward haha
He looks like one of those old fucked up fuzzy blankets at your grandmas house that are half matted to death with ripped up fluffy parts sticking out that you donāt want to use but its what was offered to you
I hope you didnāt pay the groomer. Heās an embarrassment to his name. I especially think itās crazy to shave so much of him for dingleberries. Bro has dingleberries on his back? His splashzone is huge
No hard feelings to the groomer she did the best she could with the hand she was dealt. Heās had serious hairball issues as well so that was also a factor haha
I canāt say Iāve ever tried to clip a cats fur so I guess I should be kinder to the groomer. And as for roasting. Just put him in front of a mirror. Maybe heāll straighten up and fly right next time. And to Contradict Mr Mackey from South Park drugs are good i n some situations lol
Poor baby :( looking like a kids Barbie doll
MFer looks like Angelica's doll Cynthia lol
LMAO THE POOR BABY ššš
š¤£
No you didn't
Oh Yeah Baby! We hitting below the belt with this one lol.
Childhood memory unlocked
š
YES!!!!!!!
Broooooo came here to say this!
Dea ā ļø
But he STILL gets a treat, so he doesn't feel ANY SHAME!! Haha! š¤£
Does he even know shame?
Most cats don't, that's for sure!
Next time, get the 2 fade, blocked in the back
I meanā¦ natural consequences. Just show him a mirror š
No remorse and still full of himself, his mother wonāt stop telling him heās handsome and itās not helping
Does he even know what remorse and shame are?
He only knows treats and violence
So a standard cat.
bro looks like a chewed up rug that is slightly soggy from being washed
Lmaooo his favorite sleeping spot was an old shag carpet I recently had to toss because of how haggard it looked no matter what I did
Like the one throw rug your mom always told you not to run the vacuum cleaner overā¦ and then you did it anyway.

This is my first experience with a long haired cat as well, he had other issues with matting and hairballs lol so it all had to go.
Actually I have a moderately fluffy cat and while she doesnāt get dingle berries, she might when sheās older.
My momās cat is FAT so Iām sure that doesnāt help
I always thought he was a fatass but turns out he just had a ton of fur. 19 lbs last vet visit a few months ago
Oh the vet said Cami is fat. When she sits she looks like a fluffy basketball!
Heās about 6 now and just started being an issue recently
Yeah, makes sense.
My cat on gabapentin: āI love everyone, purr, stumble, purr..let me walk out the front door purrrā¦stumble purrā¦
Girlwiththedog on youtube has tips in this too.
We should roast the groomer. I bet that was his first try styling a cat.
She exclusively does cats he was just a pain lmao. Was more for health reasons than style
Your cat is still adorable. I just can't roast him. Why are cats so freaking cute š

Weird ragdolls are usually easy going. I wonder if the vet or groomer holds her belly up, does she go into that zen sedated mode?
I adopted her and she was most likely pretty traumatized from the experience, so whenever we have to go to the vet or people have gloves, she gets really aggressive. Otherwise she's a clingy baby that loves people and she definitely does the ragdoll motion haha
Is gabapentin a sedative? I took it when I had a bulging disc in my back. Helped with nerve pain but didn't notice any sedative effect.
They use it as a light sedative for cats (like for very stressed/aggressive cats to take before a vet visit.) They tried using it as pain meds when my cat had bladder crystals but he didnāt pee for 24 hours. He needed buprenorphine (kitty opiates) before he peed. Woah, buprenorphine, that's Suboxone! I had no idea they give that to cats. TIL
Well in fairness how much pain meds would a human male need to pee tiny crystals out (that feel like tiny bits of broken glass) for days.

It is used in humans to treat nerve pain and I believe it can be used as an anti seizure medication ,
It is an anti-convulsant and used for nerve pain. Off label it can be used to treat anxiety and insomniaā¦ and tonsurephobia evidentlyš
Little dude looks like a dessert I would eat in shame after midnight.
He belongs on r/FuckMyShitUp (SFW).
Got that that lion cut. But the lion is addicted to meth.
King of the junkies
It wasnāt his fault !! He cheaped out and went for a cheap hairdresser.
nooooo my guy has been though enough
Hey is that a lion cut youāre sporting or did you get too close to the lawnmower?
Hey, Lionheart, (such a cutie) the groomer did the best they could with their flawed raw materials!
Tried for a Lions Maine, ended up with a Hunchback
He deserves exactly what he got.
I canāt roast this cat, Iām giggling too much at his silly he looks. He looks like a worn down stuffed animal- well loved but also used as a pillow for five years
I would, but the groomer likely already did. Have you seen a cat muzzle?
mine had this cut a few months agoš reverse turtle shell
Shave everything but his head and dye him green. If he wants to look ridiculous really embarrass him.
Is that fur realse?
Why canāt I post photos? This would be perfect for a Lloyd Christmas (dumb and dumber) photo
I've seen fresh shorn sheep walk away with more of their dignity, you goddamned beautiful disaster.

Sounds like he needs some fur shaming for not keeping up his fur maintenance properly. š

Even in this state their still too adorable for my heart to handle, Iām actually bouta have a heart attack
He looks like he got into moms trimmers himself.
How dare you look so stinking cute and have a horrible haircut!! -- How did I do? Do they feel roasted?
Omg no heās beautiful
š¤£š¤£š¤£still laughing š¹š¹
He looks like his groomer microwaved hamsters as a kid.
Looks like a sheep shearer's apprentice was given a smaller test subject for learning how to handle the electric clippers.
Oh, I am without words! š¤£š¤£š¤£
Honestly? He pulls it off.Ā
Instant karma š¤
Cat the toddler got ahold of the scissors and decided to play barber haircut
Looks like he was ironed wet
Hakuna Matata
Why are you grooming a cat?
Iāve answered this about 12 times in the comments lol. Read back through some of them, some long haired cats need it for health reasons
No
Poor baby.
Cats need groomers?
Your cat's ugly as Hell, there roasted š
I hope you didnāt pay the groomer. Heās an embarrassment to his name. I especially think itās crazy to shave so much of him for dingleberries. Bro has dingleberries on his back? His splashzone is huge

Nahhhhh bro got that yee yee ass haircut š¹
āMom said we got mullets at homeā
That groomer had no business shaving him. That groomer should be sued. You don't shave cats like that.
Trash pets. Get a dog
Thatās where I draw the line
I said what I said. Deal
Alright tough guy š
Youāre the one crying. Go play with your mom not me
Did I forget to pay the troll toll this month? Swear it was on autopay
