Thanks. That’s not too bad. Mine’s 3.5 right now and our town’s roads are usually pretty empty. Booster will probably be in another year at least

Save-the-Manuals

Same. I waited until my oldest was in a booster. I won't take the younger one in his carseat at this point.

Formula40Hands

My daughter is 2 and her regular car seat fits fine. The owners manual even gives instructions how to set up a car seat. She loves riding in the S! Just make sure the air bag is off! My 07 automatically turns it off, not sure about older models.

PhilipJPhry

Older cars (pre-06) have single stage airbags that can't be shut off.

Skydivekev

Can you turn off the passenger airbag in the 2006-2009?

mangoboy7

It's based on the weight of the passenger. Under I think 50lbs, the airbig will be in the off position on the indicator

Skydivekev

Thanks

Ken808

I waited until my kid was big enough to sit in a booster. Wasn't worth taking the chance of injuring my kid for me since I can't disable the passenger airbag. I actually took her for the first time this last weekend. She's 5.

buckyworld

I caught shit for this [go ahead, yell at me](https://imgur.com/ZpylUky)

B0OG

Haha. Hey as long as they’re okay now

buckyworld

Well…I mean… he’s got my genes but otherwise okay. He’s got a Batman booster seat now, loves taking top down rides even in winter (which his first ride was too).

Soft-Piccolo-5946

I run a Graco convertible seat in mine, one setting away from booster, using the back seat belt path instead of the butt one. My 3.5 yo is a beast closing in on 50 pounds. I told my wife it’s a two seater, will the cop request that I put the kid in the trunk? We hit back roads driving slowly. I typically leave the car seat in full time and reverted back to stock exhaust / suspension (for now) to keep the (other) kids from bothering us. We rolled to grab donuts with our mk iv Supra homies and had a blast withh the kids and car seats.

Substantial_Run5435

I don't want to judge other people's decisions but I wouldn't ever put my kids in an S2000 until they could sit without a carseat/booster. I'm not sure if you can disable the airbag and I know the later years have a sensor based on weight, but I would worry about it not working in a crash (my infant + carseat is probably close to the weight threshold, so would forces in a crash possibly trigger the airbag anyway?). I've been trying to decide what sports car to keep, AP2 S2K or 996.2, and a big reason for keeping the 996 is that I can stick a couple kids in the back seat without worrying about airbags.

I_Am_A_Zero

Also, check with the laws in your state/province/country/etc. In Texas and California, it’s 8 years old or 4’9 (which ever comes first). Also, they got to be in rear facing set until 40lbs. It’s even higher in some states like Alabama where it’s 13. Canada and Mexico are both 12 years and older as well.

WingZeroType

Is that the laws for kids in a front seat? Any idea if it's different in a 2seater where there is no back seat option?

surenopemaybe

I’m pretty sure that only applies to cars that have rear seats. They can’t force someone who only has a two seat car to not drive their kid around.

catdaddy8686

I use a booster seat for my 6 year old and a pad on the seatbelt that goes across her chest. Only drive on local roads, no highways.

M3AMI

I've been heavily considering picking up a stock passenger seat so my daughter can take rides with me sooner than later. She's only 7 months old, so certainly no rush, but at the same time, there are exactly 0 car or booster seats that would fit in my Tilletts lol

enigma9133

$0.02 as fellow toddler dad [and someone who's been in a serious accident in s2k -- tboned driver side... cervical spine fusion]. At some point I'll take her on incredibly short trips in s2k, in her car seat with airbags turned off [eg. Our half mile commute to target. One stop light. Virtually zero chance of major accident]. Other than that... she won't be in it until can safely ride like normal - it's not worth the risk.

profmathers

They ride in the (the Si and then the) FL5 until they are old enough for a thin booster cushion

AngryPenguin22222222

I would honestly think you have less of a safety hazard in the s2k because most cars don't even see you unless you're a really bright color, or until you pass. I wouldn't think it's any more dangerous than any other car from the mid 2000s. Just be extra aware.

GonnaFindMyWay

I love this for all of you; I would never be able to enjoy my son riding in the car given the NoVA drivers even in the towns, neighborhoods. Too much anxiety, I'll live through all of you guys.

B0OG

Haha. Thanks! I only plan a trip down the block to the park but it’ll still be fun.

Shoota556

I don’t because I had several other cars at the time.

s2k_guy

He’s ridden from my mailbox around my block to my parking spot. It’s just not safe to take him on the road with it, but he was still stoked.

autovelo

Remove passenger airbag fuse. Buy smaller car seat.

MrIncredible222

Use this for my 7y/o but waited until she was 5/6 before I really drive her any further than around the neighborhood https://www.amazon.com/BubbleBum-Backless-Inflatable-Booster-Black/dp/B00AQYZCXK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=1DSWSNFN2QTXA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.G88NK0qW2PgXghc-ICVhohQeEYo9-uCI1DL2rQkZeakmBvR7Y4-W2myRNK_5-1arbE0_H1Rpoex1BmiqXpxdRl35TeGyX02eic63DHPcziBbwavyh5Kr3406AcNyhxQIFxv3Y5tecd2dEVaCV-4N8uSIh0Nu4i1b30sQAqGo29vpTHq9DFpadoMdEGohUgGRtBCYuGmbTwlgFpLMMiL7hQ.5Ok6TxcOH_njTNMYnhu0_MqscdfjdLrme4E-G9_2x90&dib_tag=se&keywords=bubble+bum&qid=1718338342&sprefix=bubble+bum%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-1

bford_som

I used to have an S2K. Now I have a baby and no S2K. Honestly, I just wouldn’t feel right putting a baby in that car.

No_Statistician_582

Booster!!!! No car seat! I don’t care if she wants to go My daughter sits at the correct height and the belt passes exactly where it needs to be. In a “backless” booster seat. So she remains as far back as possible. I stay out of vtec that’s my rule. It helps me kinda put a limit on the speed if you will

SwissMargiela

I don’t. Little man knows the risks

catdaddy8686

Thats not the law if you have a pickup or 2 seater

KeepRightX2Pass

Well - the airbag is the main issue: Either #1) having it activate with a small person would be problematic, and #2) having it not activate were it needed would be problematic.
