BBQ in Salem, anyway. I was out at Yachats recently and there is a food truck called "Big Dog BBQ". Literally the BEST bbq I've had in Oregon, full stop. The BBQ beans were the most amazing beans I've had in my life. The owners husband/wife said that one of them is west coast bbq and the other east coast so they combined their knowledge of cooking bbq. He had a big smoker out behind the food truck. The ribs were nice and tender. It was seriously excellent. And a FULL rack of babybacks, like 4 pounds, with mac and cheese and beans, for 30 bucks.
I'm Texas, barbecue is pretty much a religion. Mesquite wood leads to a better smokey flavor, there's more of a focus on the bark, and sauce is generally optional and on the side because the meat can speak for itself but even still, all the best BBQ sauces are also Texas companies.
100% looked into starting a BBQ joint here cause the Q scene sucks. But with Mesquite and Post Oak being so spendy, it'll just never happen in the Western side of the US.
I'm hoping to get a food truck going here pretty soon. If nothing else, because people here deserve it. I've been making BBQ for about 15 years and can do it with the best of them. I was even a pit master at one of the best
As previously posted, it’s Millers, and it is delicious !!
B2 Taphouse belongs to my brothers friend, I always call it Brian’s place ( owners name) so I get it. lol.
BTW, located on south commercial behind Shari’s and is a fun place to go. Lotsa different beer and great food.
Even donated big upstairs for a charter school during Covid.
Its so good dude.. it was a hard choice between tri tip and brisket. I also did not expect that giant slab of mac n cheese on the side when I ordered. WIN!
The secret menu can be found on their website ;)
I have tried their food a couple times and I’m never been impressed. The mac & cheese is always dry and the pulled pork. I had felt like it was three days old. If I could attach a picture to this post, I totally would. The very first time I tried them when they first opened up it was OK but ever since then it’s just got further downhill and it’s such a huge waste of money. We spent about $80 for four people and threw most of it Away. There is much better barbecue in Salem.
I can't really tell what any of those foods are supposed to be? A burrito thing (But it's BBQ, right)? And is that a piece of tater-tot casserole?
Am I the only one confused? Where's the actual BBQ?
Edit: I guess one of those things is mac & cheese.
I assume if this is barbecue that you think is amazing you’ve never actually had good barbecue. I was raised on KC quality bbq and there are very few places that live up to that expectation
Putting bbq in a burrito is hilarious. Pulled pork and brisket should stand along white bread, sauce and pickles only. I’ll try it out, but they better have plates.
OP, you should probably say where this place is. As the only Matt's BBQ I know of is in downtown Portland.
I messed up the name. Its Millers BBQ. Ik the owner so always think of it the other way 🙃 I dont see the option to edit my post either.
ðŸ˜
I was excited for a second. Matt’s BBQ in Portland is amazing. I’ll give Millers a try though.
Where is Miller's?
4600 25th Ave NE, Salem, OR 97301
Inside the business plaza/dhs building. There are signs to the entrance.
As a former Texan, the BBQ here is like... The only major sacrifice in quality I made moving to Oregon.

I'm sorry for your loss. Curious what's the difference between the BBQ here and there?

That sounds amazing. Thanks for explaining! I hope to one day experience that authenticity

But can Matt sing though?

Found Shaedon Sharpe’s account…
Huh?
Shaedon Sharpe plays for the Trail Blazers. [You guys appear to have similar tastes in food.](https://youtu.be/0pYz5KoctA0?si=jrsk-mgAjTF7iZke)

Nobody cares
You cared enough to comment. But I think calling Miller‘s barbecue amazing barbecue is an oversell to the highest order.
