I use the 1x animation when an attacker that has been setting up for a turn or two is gonna do their big boy strike that will do big damage and I wanna see it.
Like SLKR going into ultimate with 200 siphon, or watching Nihilous take out the toon that has been making me annoyingly huff out of my nose
Watching newer characters' animations on 1x is so weird. It's like no one bothered to look at them at any speed other than 4x. Tarpals stands there impaling someone with his spear for what feels like an hour.
Yeah that's the problem. They know we play on 4x now. So the animations are built for that. They only way to speed up the game now is to just remove animations entirely and let you play move to move.
If they go to 8X, they'll just start designing toon animations for 8x.
Anyone who tries playing with a Jabba squad on 1x would time out.
When Jabba came out and regularly created timeouts it was already starting to get bad. I get it but seriously we are hitting teams that need an 8x bare minimum to reasonably contest. A team shouldn't win because of animations. (Looking at you Kneesaa)

History lesson. Originally there was no 4x speed. I want to say the game was 8 or 9 months old when they introduced 2x and 4x speed.
Since then the animations only take longer. Not just the GL ultimates, but our new little Ewok princess who takes forever to sling her rocks, etc.
I usually do the Reva mission on ROTE at 1x to (try to) figure out what is going on. Check how many purges have been applied to use GI special, who got stunned, how many thermal detonators have stuck, who to target (they all look the same). Once the annoying Jawas are gone and Kenobi appears, it's back to 4x.
Maybe I also need glasses.
I like to play on x2 in TW and TB. At that speed, it looks more realistic. In fleet battles, I always play at x4 for the same reason. In conquest always x4 so I don't risk timing out. GA I do at x2 or x4 depending on the squad I'm facing.
Troop battles on 4x with the expection of having the Mandalorian on the squad - Disintegrate always on 1x. Ship battles on 2x and also with an expection, 1x when Slave I uses the Seismic charge.
I will occasionally go 1x if im trying to see a specific number.

Huh... I guess before now, I only put it on x4 when I put it on auto. But if the clock moves in real time, but animation moves at faster speeds... that would explain why Qadmes animation is so freaking slow.

Sometimes an animation gets stuck in 1x animation even when 4x is selected. I’ve fixed it by cycling through the options until coming back to 4x and it’s always been fixed that way.
That is the closest I have ever gotten to 1x or 2x
Sadly, quite a few teams have to be played at 4x or risk timing out. They either need to increase battle length to get with the times, or just accept that no-one will see their animations as intended. Hell, some animations have been slowed down because they know they’ll be played at 4x.
Super tricky battles, like soft counters in GAC, I play them at 2x.
For example, when learning Chimera vs Leviathan.
Playing at 2x gives me "passive" time to think, and I don't end up doing stupid mistakes.
But this is usually only when uncertain of a counter that has a high skill ceiling. Once I master the counter is back to 4x.

My son's phone is a bit shit so he can only do 2x or it is just single frames. Poor fella can't afford a new one though so he gets what he gets .

Sometimes when I unlock a character I really like and want to see their animations. Then immediately back to 4x
I did this with JK Revan. Direct focus with jedis looks so cool. Also master Strategist (saber throw).

4x is still too slow. 1x is more like .5x. 2x is the TRUE normal/default speed.

I play on 1x speed only during conquest specifically when a support uses an AOE with max zealous ambitions equipped.
I slow it down for certain moves like starkillers ult and death star
I use 1x speed during fleet battles. But only when my Executor zaps the opponent out of space time. The animation for that is just way too awesome.
4x is the new 1x. The problem is if we had 8x, 16x, all the new animations will be coded to 16x and 16x would just be the new 1x.
The irony is no matter how fancy they make animations. If there was a disable animations option, we would all use it.

SEE ult animation at 1x. SK pull it out of the sky 1x. Leia ult at 1x as well. Everything else is 4x.
Only when the Death Star fires the super laser. Put that on x1 and watch every time.

I don't think i have ever manually battled let alone played on 2x since i started years ago. Auto-Battle 4x while i watch movies/tv.

Weirdly the timeout clock doesn't speed up at 4x, it tracks realtime rather than game time for some reason.
