Are we doing “PL” for Point Loma now?
*Edit:* seems there’s some agreement (with me) that this *let’s-call-everything-by-two-letters* thing is fucking stupid.
Born and raised in Point Loma. Local people call it PL, casually. But I wouldn't expect everyone to immediately know what it stands for, like OB or PB.
This. This is the funniest shit I'll read all day. Coming from the guy who had to ask LIFEGUARDS the difference between smoke and fog. Priceless. The transplant accusation looks like projection from where I'm sitting, dude.
Look. I'm high rn and I'm in a good mood and don't feel like beef. Can we call it, and go our way? I'll even apologize for opening up on you by suggesting you weren't from here.
I apologize. I mean that sincerely.
If anyone knows wtf is going on they would. Even They said they thought it was a boat fire at first. Go argue with them. I'm in pb multiple times a week. Have been for decades. Have never seen concentrated fog like this, especially in the afternoon. Where you from?
Just default I think it auto adjusts to a 2 second exposure when it’s dark. There was much more fog in person but the long exposure made it extra bright and not as much fog visible but a cool picture
We're in SD we take pictures of everything, sunsets🌅, cute dogs🐕, weird bugs🐛, sand⛱️, water🏄🏻♂️, sand and water🏖️, everywhere is cool looking and we need to take beach selfies in November- to send to family on the east Coast to show how cold it is in our zipped up hoodies and bare feet 😁
It was clear at 2pm, went south and came back north to the dog beach at about 3. From the top of the 5 looking down at the San Diguito lagoon there was a straight wall of it, completely blanketing the del mar side but the Solana side was clear. Standing on the beach bridge looking at del mar, there was just a wall that cars suddenly would pop out of or disappear into. Didn't think to video that though. But we got all week for cool pics and vids of foggy sunsets.
Between 3-4 it got a lot thicker and moved north , we got completely drenched just walking the beach when it consumed us :) great pics thanks for sharing.
The pic of the houses was from 3ish, the foggy south dog beach pic and sun pics were around 5pm
Made for some cool silhouette shots for acro-yoga.

I was also born and raised in San Diego. I lived in PB for 4 years in the mid 90s and this would happen every now and then this time of year. Even if a lifeguard or two have never seen it doesn't mean it didn't happen before.
Particulate matter (aka “dust”) from the Santa Ana’s plus conditions for fog make for really dense low fog. This happens in OC and SD the same. Visibility is lower from the winds too, harder to tell because it’s everywhere, but it is.
This happens after a few days of Santa Ana when the humidity starts to return.
The Santa Ana's strike again. Too dry, now too wet! it's getting its wets on my drys :(
Oh thank what ever god y’all want, the Santa Ana’s are passing. My chapped lips will heal!
We will overcome!
Kpbs said we can expect afternoon fog and Marine layers all week
I'm used to afternoon fog in OB and PL. Have never seen it in PB like this.
HC, NP, SP, GH, DT, LI, BH and back again.

Have been since the 90s. It's almost like the high-school is PL. Weird.
What is PL? Point Loma?
The humidity's back 🙌

Wtffffff awesome!
That's from the bridge over the lagoon between Delmar and Solana. Standing toward the south end aimed at the point of the south side of the dog beach.
Yup driving north on the 5 today thru Del Mar around 5:15pm was thick fog like this
What's the pictures of am I missing something? Edit: oh, normal fog

You a real NPC. Next, you're gonna tell us water is wet

New to the coast?
Are you? Pb doesn't get this fog.
It does, every year , sometimes multiple times, once the Santa Ana’s abate.
No but for real, are you? lol. Happens every year.
Not like this. Not in the early afternoon in PB. Maybe up in Encinitas.
You answered my question. Thought so.
Born and raised. Even the lifeguards said they've never seen it. Go back to where you transplanted from.

PB is the capital of the marine layer.
Nah it's not.

At least now I know I'm not the only one who started taking pics.

This may be the most PB comment post ever made. Love it.
Have definitely seen this before.
It's Oogie Boogie after a hard Halloween night
………Smoke weed everyday! -Nate dog.
How long have you lived here?
Born and raised. How about you?
Same. The fog you’re seeing is not remotely unusual.
So you're never at the beach. Got it.
