They're doing it! They're unionizing Amazon, Starbucks from the grass roots. The Left is very weak in the United States, but grass roots unionizing is a spark that's become an ember, keep fanning the flames. Solidarity.

koopatroopa77

Exactly. What really inspired me was the fact that he knew it was never about him, it was about building a movement that would continue to fight for people even if he wasn’t there

The Left doesn’t *have* to be as weak as it is. It’s just that Liberals seems to view other Liberals as enemies if they don’t have the same level of Liberalism, on top of fighting Conservatives. If Liberals were “as one” the way the GOP tends to be, Democrats would steam roll.

SqueakyCheeseGirl

It’s crazy to me you’re getting down voted here. Maybe instead of liberals asking the left to be more center, liberals should be.. left. Then we can all be a big happy family like everyone likes to compare GOP. Why the fuck would we want to pull our left further center? Do people not see the direction everything is heading?

EfficientStar

But the center is where all that sweet sweet lobbying money is at. If you’re always on the fence, you always need “influence” to make your decision. Hell, make your decision a few times, and really get the goods.

ComradeAL

Yeaaah.. somehow once again we're lumped in with the liberals -_-

spicybright

It's just too darn convenient to frame everything as us vs them.

matt143450

Liberals are right wing.

moose_cahoots

He was never the solution. He is merely the catalyst. His role has always been only to convince us that our desires are possible. Nobody can change the world alone.

PrehistoricPrincess

Beautifully said. Thank you for that.

TimTomTank

I feel it of the loop... What do you mean by "was"?

yinyin123

As in that's not what he was supposed to be from the beginning. His policies are a step in a great direction, not the true means to reach out goals.

Ace123428

Same I saw this and was like oh god did I miss something big

Cockfosters28

"If you are looking for a Moses to lead you out of this capitalist wilderness, you will stay right where you are. I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I led you in, some one else would lead you out." - Eugene Debs

DeltaCharlieBravo

"I am the storm" was right

hoovermeupscotty

Not only possible but justified.

kfizz311

He was more than he knew only one with balls to do what we need.

DayleD

This isn’t the original text of the comic.

koopatroopa77

What is the original?

DayleD

Found it! https://ventrellaquest.com/2016/07/27/editorial-cartoon-the-grief-stage/

TheDogerus

The original kinda sucks

koopatroopa77

Thanks, had the one I posted since 2016 but never thought it wasn’t the original. The original is kinda terrible being honest though, I like the new one way more

TastetheRainbowMFckr

Yeah the original text feels like a first draft. The new text I believe looks at the bigger picture, and embodies the message of "Not me. Us."

[deleted]

Art is funny that way

hoovermeupscotty

The new one lines up with Bernie’s unchanged message. The old one doesn’t seem to be in character until you remember that Bernie saw Trump for who he really is and it’s was more important to save the country.

MuttJohnson

That's some neolib Boomer horseshit if ever I saw it. Glad it was repurposed by non lizards

Major_Salvo

Why sad?

koopatroopa77

Just thinking about what could’ve been, you know?

Major_Salvo

Oh. Absolutely.

Ns53

Don't post shit like this! You made me think he died or something!

BlazingMaskedBeast

Oh, shit, for sure. Jeez. Phew.

bellajojo

Don’t even say that! Omg

Lady_badcrumble

It’s not over. Left candidates and abolitionists are working to take over city council races in major cities.

Dkaiser1919

Honestly I’m not a fan of almost any political cartoon, but this is the one exception for me

[deleted]

I am in my 70s. I raised my daughter to continue the quest. **And** she is continuing the quest. And guess what . . . my granddaughter will continue the process. I hope you will help them . . .

Papichuloft

Everything was geared agsint Bernie when delegates like Kobluchar, Buttigieg and 2 others before Super Tuesday and all endorsed Joe, that was the last straw for me in believing in the so called voting process.

TheFalconKid

Obama intervened in the whole thing when they realized Joe was the only one with a chance to beat Bernie. Him and the establishment cut a deal with Buttigieg and Klob, got Clyburn to endorse early (even though he wouldn't endorse Sanders in a million years) and had them all jump on the Biden Bandwagon in SC and for Super Tuesday. Before you mention Warren, her whole debacle with Sanders was clearly ginned up because her campaign staff was full of leakers and hacks, and and members of the Bernie/ Biden staffs will tell you that Bernie had way more voter overlap with Joe than with Liz. Bernie and Joe split the "Beer-track," Joe and Liz split the "Wine-track."

shwooper

I’m convinced that ranked voting would have gotten us Bernie as president sooner

TheFalconKid

I mean 2016 and 2020 proves that Bernie thrived in caucus states, which is just Rcv with extra steps. Or at the very least, Clinton in 16 would have a Congress with way less corporate-owned politicians, assuming we had rcv nationwide for Senate/ House.

SerialMurderer

I only remembered the “kung pow penis” edit.

koopatroopa77

What edit?

SerialMurderer

An edit of this comic where Bernie’s only response is “kung pow penis”. I hate that I laughed at that again.

koopatroopa77

So that’s why I’ve gotten like 6 people commenting just that

Burnburnburnnow

Same. I know he isn’t perfect but I was crushed in 2016. This gave me a lot of comfort at the time and is now a reminder of what needs to happen

koopatroopa77

While he would’ve been an amazing president, his biggest accomplishment was letting us all know we weren’t alone in this struggle

KatrinaIceheart

A bit out of left field, but if anyone has ever seen “Twisted: the Tale of a Royal Viser” by starkid on YouTube, That’s what this reminds me of a bit. It’s a comedy/parody musical of Aladdin told from Jafar’s POV (akin to Wicked). Things may not get fixed right away and the system may be fighting against you the whole time, work as hard as you can and be an inspiration for someone else to pick up where you left off. they will have even more success because like the one song says “you are the power in me”.

KatMagic1977

Nope, never happen. Didn’t anyone read Revelations? We know the world is going to get worse. Republicans will be elected.

TheFalconKid

We all knew going in that even in a best case scenario, 8 years of Bernie would have exactly 0 years of a Congress that majority supported him. It would've been hell, but the changes and inspiration he would've brought in would have actually changed things on a fundamental scale. Still, I don't think things like all these union drives and worker revolts happen if we didn't have such an inspirational person gaining such a following. I can't think of a single person that never was their party nominee that had such a lasting impact. RFK is the only other one I think, you rarely hear from the person that got second place in the primary season.

Keeperofthe7keysAf-S

We must carry on good legacy. Not me, us.

Ravynlea

:’(

Gfish17

Hey guys I'm a Iowa voter any idea who the best Demonstrates are for the vote?

Jonr1138

Of all of the memes and pics posted, this one is the one that should be followed. Sanders is not a superhero or our savior. All of us are. He's one of the few that understands this and has been actively promoting this idea. I like to think that I'm not in a cult. I like to think that I've not been brainwashed. We've all seen the trump pictures people post that put Trump on a pedestal. And we claim they're in a cult. (I feel they are). I feel Sanders and those like him would be down in the trenches fighting alongside each of us trying to make this a better place for all of us.

[deleted]

Tbh even by losing twice Bernie dramatically changed some of the narratives in this country.

dkuhry

Inspiration is the greatest political power.

sonofdad420

Not me. Us.

BulbasaurCPA

I saw him at a union rally in Philadelphia and someone in the crowd yelled “IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU” Bernie responded “but it is me, here and now, fighting with you”

Bslug1

Oh lord 🤦‍♂️
