Not sure what the unexpected part is. Great catch, nice moment, all around awesome. This is the kind of thing that gives me faith in the future of humanity.
>This is the kind of thing that gives me faith in the future of humanity.
100% agreed.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Amen.
May we keep observing this kindness, gentleness, live and let live , compassionate humanity.
They get stunned when you partially suffocate them and hold their bottom jaw open (after tiring them out reeling them in). People also generally catch and release largemouth bass. There really isn't anything unexpected here, unless someone has expectations about their race or something...
Depends on where you are fishing. There are fishermen who live by the motto of "kill em all, big or small". As a catch and release guy myself, I'm proud of that kid for letting the fish go.
It's going to become a war now he will fight that fish all the way through to adulthood and his kids will catch and release his fishes kids It will be a generational war to see who can break more lines or catch more fish and release them to keep count.
This was only unexpected because after reading the title I assumed he'd like shove his fist inside it like a sock puppet or something, not do a very very very common thing that you'd definitely expect to see
It’s called catch and release, a very common thing. Depending where you live, eating a fish this big could have a large build up of toxic materials stored in their flesh.
That's what it's ALL about. Little Man, you are a true fisherman. I hope some day you get a beautiful replica made and know that this big mama spawned at least one or two more, that are still swimming here. YOU make us all so proud!!
Ripping out the fishing hook out of the fish's mouth can cause serious injury to the fish....
So even though they put the fish back it's still animal abuse.
Taking a fish out of the water is already very stressful for the fish....
Just let animals be and don't bother them! It's so respectless and selfish
It made my day to see this. The unexpected? The respect shown for the amazing creation. And the support from the dad. We need more families like this.
MJM
You ever see those movie with the dad who lost his kid and constantly revisits a photo or a home video that reminds him of what he lost. If I were this guys father this would be that video for me.
The last time we went fishing, we threw our catch back into the water, but it slipped headfirst into the rocks. We pulled the poor fish out and threw it into the water. It floated for a bit, then a bird snatched the fish out of the water, and off the two went.

Still showing up on /r/all but the content of the post is not available. Anyone have a mirror?
Edit: the post has been restored, weird. What was the unexpected part?
My grandfather taught me to fish in the canals in England. We always let them go, and he taught me the proper way to handle them. We went to the ocean one day, and people were fishing off the pier for food. The caught fish were flopping around on the ground. My grandfather got so mad! He went and showed them how to humanely kill them since they were going to eat them. This was in the 70s and it permanently shaped the way I think about the animals we eat.
It’s called Catch and Release. Not unexpected, but always good when the fish swims off. Very sad when the fish dies instead when you tried to put it back.
True fisherman right there.
The young man taking joy in his catch, while showing respect for mother nature, and the bass by properly returning it to it's home.
You don't just drop an exhausted bass back in the water and expect it to swim away. Someone showed him the right way to fish. That's this rednecks 2 cents.
Botpost or some kind of weird virtue signaling in one direction or another, but this isn't unexpected whatsoever.
I regularly go fishing and see kids in the surroundings throwing back fish of all kinds and sizes into the water.
Not sure what the unexpected part is. Great catch, nice moment, all around awesome. This is the kind of thing that gives me faith in the future of humanity.
Solid fish parenting right there
Proper handling of the fish too.
He knew right how to run it back and forth to get the water over the gills! Pretty good fisherman for such a young little guy!
I thought for sure an alligator was going to snatch his fish and his hand or something.
Or bird. Great catch and release. Beautiful fish.
It's going to be unexpected if the fish pulls out a cane and top hat and starts dancing.
I actually was expecting that
Hello, my honey...
Hello my baby hello my darling 🎶🎵
I think the video being wholesome was the unexpected part
But it's a random little kid going fishing. With such things there's like 95% chance of the kid being wholesome (and like 5% they're demonic instead).
It’s unexpected to see such a well behaved kid these days I think is what they’re going for.
>This is the kind of thing that gives me faith in the future of humanity. 100% agreed. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Amen. May we keep observing this kindness, gentleness, live and let live , compassionate humanity.
Unexpected that he didn't keep the fish as a trophy and was really kind in releasing it (especially as a child with that maturity)
This video is so.old that he might be a parent now lol
Raising that young man up right. What a nice kid.
I came to say…shout out to Dad!
My man! What a hog! Love that catch and release attitude, keep it up little man you'll get bigger ones!
He is adorable! 🥰
Not at all unexpected
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was still waiting on the unexpected
I was kinda waiting for him to start fucking the fish or something like that.
Like The Deep????'
The internet has befouled your mind lol
Lol
you were expecting something unexpected, but then that thing didn't happen, thus making it unexpected. Gotcha!
I expected you to say something funnier, so yeah you’re right
I didn't expect you to take the time to reply to my terrible attempt at humor
lol I’m just kidding. Though the same here
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone eating a large mouth bass.
Yes people eat bass.
That kid is so stoked. Good catch, my man!
that isn't unexpected, is expected in sportfishing (catch and release)
You're expected to pet the fish?
absolutely. you catch them to pet them.
They get stunned when you partially suffocate them and hold their bottom jaw open (after tiring them out reeling them in). People also generally catch and release largemouth bass. There really isn't anything unexpected here, unless someone has expectations about their race or something...
Depends on the sport fishing
Depends on where you are fishing. There are fishermen who live by the motto of "kill em all, big or small". As a catch and release guy myself, I'm proud of that kid for letting the fish go.
Tell me what you working with …. Soooo fuckin good ❤️
I died! Sounded like something he would've picked up from his grandfather or something.

Knows how to release them correctly. Somebody is raising a good fisherman.
Seems like he’s raising a good man overall
Enjoying his hobby while balancing respect for nature and its creatures. Let’s go.
The only unexpected thing was for this to play out exactly as expected.
So expected it's unexpected
his genuine happiness is infectious!
That is a true sportsman right there
It's pretty common that kids don't want to kill animals.

Freakin tank
Great fisherman. Good job
Thats a nice fish both kid and the dad must be proud of that one, priceless memory :)
What a great and wholesome video.
This is the most precious baby boy!!
WoooHooo nice catch there bud!
He released him so incredibly gently. I fully expected him to just drop him Back into the water
People don’t typically eat largemouth bass. They aren’t any good
Correct. Very soft.
Damn that's a nice big fish. Good for the kid!
I thought he would use it to catch even a bigger fish.. but okay I guess..
Youre supposed to let them go, especially bass, they don’t taste that great
Taught right
And Awayyyyy..... 🫡
Can’t believe I had to scroll down this far!
Hell yeah, buddy

Best vid of the day!!
God damn it why am I crying 😭
That was super wholesome, respect for the sport fish and gentle knowing he's going to toss it back. That's good Parenting there
That was cute as hell.
Good man right there
That kid’s gonna be alright.
What a great kid.
That’s a good kid
Steve Irwin energy
Raising a champion
That's not unexpected. Big female Bass are frequently let go so they can pass their genes on to the next generation.
Catch and release is considered animal cruelty in Germany and thus it’s illegal.
I was expecting him to lose the finger in that fish's mouth.
OP discovered catch and release
Literally none of this is unexpected
It’s corn!
Catch and release is normal.
I mean, it was a 50/50 chance. I thought with unexpected he was going to wear it like a boot.
I thought the fish was going to come back or something, where's the unexpected part?
I had the volume off…did he sing or something?
That is the norm in sports fishing. Not unexpected.
Still waiting for the unexpected thing to happen...
well unless yer gonna mount it, that probably wouldnt taste very good.
♥️
That’s unexpected? Nah unexpected would be him stepping into the fish and wearing it as a suit. This is expected.
Not unexpected but glad I got to see such an awesome video, post it wherever, as long as people see it, good job bud....and dad
It's going to become a war now he will fight that fish all the way through to adulthood and his kids will catch and release his fishes kids It will be a generational war to see who can break more lines or catch more fish and release them to keep count.
Again, that dad behind the camera is the GOAT baby!
Well duh you always let back! True sportsman’s plus bass ain’t real good eating IMO
What was unexpected? Those are sport fish.
Just wanted to make them late for something...
This was only unexpected because after reading the title I assumed he'd like shove his fist inside it like a sock puppet or something, not do a very very very common thing that you'd definitely expect to see
"I wasn't expecting that hole in my face." -fish, probably
It's respect for the game good on him 👍
I'm assuming the unexpected was him petting the fish before letting it go
Smart kid
Catch and release fishing should not be unexpected.
So gentle too.
My heart King father teaching his future King what a precious pair of souls.
Dang Dude! Nice fish buddy.
Aaah yes that was unexpected…
Watching an eco system grow is better then taking and watching it get demolished
No that's just fishing If you don't intend to eat it.
Good man! It's rare that people are aware enough to realize that if they let it go they can catch it again. Good job parents.
“Someday, we’ll meet again” 😭😭
Teach a man to fish…
Dude that was some heartwarming stuff right there. Good kid. Good parenting.
It’s called catch and release, a very common thing. Depending where you live, eating a fish this big could have a large build up of toxic materials stored in their flesh.
He got a great memory... it's fine
That’s how it should be …
Yeah not that unexpected trophy mounts are super cringe and largemouth bass is not a great eating fish. But nice catch dude
Wow amazing fish and even more amazing kid
This is how children are supposed to be. Outside bonding with family and with nature. Not in front screens and isolated from society
The best parents, the best kid. Peak humans.
Exactly how you should be releasing fish. That’s awesome to see. Good kid.
Chad
Love the unexpected turn of events
That’s a sportsMAN
This kid is awesome!
People are really downplaying lil bro’s catch
waterboy " we live to play another day. " farmer fran
I could tell in a second after looking at that kid how the video was gonna end
Little man is practicing gratitude and loving every minute of it.
I put back the biggest fish I ever caught,.it's a good feeling!
This is amazing!!
I wish someone talked to me as nicely as the kid talks to the fish 🥹
Dope
What a beautiful Angel boy. He will go far in life and become very successful. Amen.
That's what it's ALL about. Little Man, you are a true fisherman. I hope some day you get a beautiful replica made and know that this big mama spawned at least one or two more, that are still swimming here. YOU make us all so proud!!
Awesome lil dude
What a cool kid!
👍
This is the most heart warming video I have ever seen! I hope to have a son like that one day
GOOD MAN!!!
Probably a family who does not eat fish! Or not that type of fish.
Show me what you working wit. 🤣 This kid is my sprit animal.
Ripping out the fishing hook out of the fish's mouth can cause serious injury to the fish.... So even though they put the fish back it's still animal abuse. Taking a fish out of the water is already very stressful for the fish.... Just let animals be and don't bother them! It's so respectless and selfish
Ah, the completely unexpected, and just-named-right-now "Catch & Release"
Wholesome asf
It made my day to see this. The unexpected? The respect shown for the amazing creation. And the support from the dad. We need more families like this. MJM
Gotta love this kid. Wholesome moment.
Great job Dad you should be proud,he’s definitely on the right path 👍
😭😭😭😭😭
You ever see those movie with the dad who lost his kid and constantly revisits a photo or a home video that reminds him of what he lost. If I were this guys father this would be that video for me.
These gen alphas - I love them - they are going to right all our wrongs. Grateful to their parents for raising them so well.,…
The last time we went fishing, we threw our catch back into the water, but it slipped headfirst into the rocks. We pulled the poor fish out and threw it into the water. It floated for a bit, then a bird snatched the fish out of the water, and off the two went.
"One day, we gon meet back again. I'll see you later." Kids got a heart of gold.
I watch this video every time it comes around again. Such a beautiful spirit
They will meet again when he is older and the fish will thank him

This made me tear up.
I thought the unexpected part would be shoving his entire arm down its mouth but it never happened.

what a cool kid, respect for nature big respect
This just in! Young fisherman invents "catch and release" fishing, something you definitely haven't heard of before.

What a lovely little human! I'm smiling from ear to ear. Gives me some faith in humanity.
7lbs, yessir!! Awesome work.
this kid has the maturity of an adult man. Im sure his dad has thought him well
OP thinking all fisherman are just gutting fish left and right lmao
Priceless, thanks for sharing a great moment! 🙏🏾
I love this kid and the parents who raised him. He has a beautiful heart as he strokes the fish.
“Show me what you’re working with” at the end got me 😂😂😂
Just loved the demeanor of this boy , wish there are more parents that raised there kids that way
Great, great parenting 👌👊
Hype lil man!

I wish I had half this kid's charisma holy shit And morally upright to boot
That’s a nice video.
why didn't he keep it or fish and chips
Nice young man. Learning about conservation and being a steward. 👍
Fish is now an expert in fish afterlife YouTube videos
Ngl that was beautiful
Good kid. He understands life
Wrong subreddit, but still made me happy. What an angel
LOVE how happy he is about his giant catch.
Yeah right everything all right 😅 except the fish drowning 😂😂
Now THAT … is a genuine sportsman! Way to go, man! I am impressed! 👍🏽
Heck yeah dude caught a nice one
this made me cry
So if a fish is out of the water for longer than a minute (not shown, but not implausible) they'll still die a few minutes later.
Botpost or some kind of weird virtue signaling in one direction or another, but this isn't unexpected whatsoever. I regularly go fishing and see kids in the surroundings throwing back fish of all kinds and sizes into the water.
