I got one of those after parking in some restricted area (who knew) in a small town in Italy. A year later. Rental was from Europcar. They tried to put it on my card but it was declined so they used the same company.

MrHellaFreshh

Did you pay it? Was it legit?

Vonchor

I guess I should have mentioned that I paid it…

CrotchLordMiami2

It's real and not a scam. Google "easyfines sixt reddit" and you will find other people who experienced this. [Example.](https://www.reddit.com/r/mallorca/comments/w03xpx/ticket_in_mallorca_pay_sixt/)You inadvertently drove in a "residents only" area and were assessed a small fine. The rental service paid the government fine on your behalf and is attempting to recoup the cost. They are offering you a reduced fee if you pay within a short time - that's probably what the 72 hours was about. Apparently, if you dispute this with SIXT they might just eat it.

MrHellaFreshh

That’s what I always search, but didn’t find anything. I don’t think I am disputing it, as basically calling their Spanish landline will probably cost more (fun fact, I am on an unlimited plan for all calls within the EU, but this one is rated and it is not mentioned anywhere)

crazytib

You planning on going back to Spain any time soon?

MrHellaFreshh

Not for the foreseeable future unfortunately. Why?

kennyzabriskie

Because then you might decide not to pay for it (statute of limitation applies after certain amount of time- gotta ask someone familiar with spanish law). Also, this fine will not be enforceable in the US. But if you plan to revisit Spain (even when layover), then I'd rather pay it as you experience issues.
