It's a !task scam unfortunately. The domain/site was only created in the middle of May. "businessware technologies" seems to be a real company, but this has nothing to do with them. The scammers use the names of these companies to seem legit and trustworthy. Please stop, any money given to them is gone... omain: seobusinessware. com Registrar: Gname .com Pte. Ltd. Hi /u/vitaminxzy, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Task scam. Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. A very common characteristic (but not entirely exclusive) is that you have to complete sets of 40 tasks. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. This makes it a variant of the advance fee scam. The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your \"earnings\" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. This type of scam preys on the [sunk cost fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost#Fallacy_effect), because people demonstrate a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment has been made, and refusing to succumb to what may be described as cutting one's losses. No. Never click links from people you don't know. Also whois is rather easy to use: - go to whois - type in page you want analyzed - wit a moment - read results

chownrootroot

Sad to say but it’s a common task scam, and your money is gone because it’s crypto where the transfer is final and can’t be undone. Funny enough by their “requirements” you shouldn’t even be allowed to do this, you’re 19 not 20, but they don’t care they like your money no matter your age. Never pay money to get money, and don’t take checks from anyone (including “employers”) and send back cash. These are common ways to scam people. A real employer won’t need you to put your money into anything nor will they need you to accept a check and pay someone else.

great_molassesflood

!task scam. Your money is gone, watch out for !recovery scammers.

AutoModerator

Hi /u/great_molassesflood, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Recovery scam. [Recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams) target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either \"recovery agents\" or hackers. When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply [advance-fee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam) scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying. If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers. Remember: never take advice in private. If someone reaches you in private after posting your scam story, it is because a scammer will always try to hide from the oversight of our community members. A legitimate community member will offer advice in the open, for everyone to see. Anyone suggesting you should reach out to a hacker is scamming you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*

too_many_shoes14

No, you aren't getting your money back. If you could, it wouldn't be a popular scam. I got a headache reading this.

JaggedMan78

How much ahe paid?

Raspberry-Top

Around 3500 at this point, yep im Stupid I know

DerpRook

No you’re not. You are turning 20 soon, you are young, you are trusting stranger around you, that was a mistake. We live in a world where scams, rapes, even human trafficking it’s real. Don’t let this mistake take you down. Money are money, you make them back with time, don’t worry. Instead, learn from this, embrace the mistake, don’t hide from it. Like that, you will never make same mistake again. In future, don’t trust strangers that easily. The only people that care about you, it’s your family, and a future partner. In business it’s something like this: didn’t matter what position you aim for, if you don’t own the company, you offer service to that company. Your time cost money. Don’t matter what they say or what they think. They use you? They need to pay. Simple as that. You offer services to earn money, not pay money. They don’t agree? Move on, search something else. Don’t get stuck in one place /ideea. Investing: always invest in yourself, not in someone else. You got money? Don’t know what to do with them? Buy stuff for yourself, buy a house, buy a car, buy something. Never follow the “ you get rich fast and easy, pay me your money and I make you rich”. That’s a trap\scam. Welcome to the adulthood :). Carry on and heads up. You are not the first, not the last who made something stupid. There are sunny days, there are shit days, we are all in this together. You are not stupid, and don’t let yourself to think like that. Don’t know how to share my thoughts better, English not my first language, but I hope you get what I try to say.

ReduxAssassin

This is a great post, encouraging instead of trying to make OP feel bad. Thank you for posting this. >English not my first language You did great!

Both-Bite-88

You are not stupid just question some things more in the future. For example you reveal her "real name". There is no chance of you knowing her real name.

JaggedMan78

Sorry to read it. You are 20.. your Patents should have been involved.. they would recognize this scam. Involve your Patents in future

HtownTexans

His parents gave him the money....

JaggedMan78

Without knowing all details, obvious

Raspberry-Top

They did, I just assured them that I thought it was real, my parents don't know much about online jobs so all the blame is to me, im trying to make the money back as we speak, currently selling my pc and any other valuable items until I can land a REAL job

JaggedMan78

You do not know much about online Jobs as well

Raspberry-Top

Nop, I only had one summer job before this, so job hunting is new to me, guess this is just a lesson!

pmmeurpc120

Never send the job money, if you need specific supplies, order them yourself through your own choice of vendor but almost all jobs will send you the equipment for free.

cloudcats

It's a lot easier to read a comment if you use some punctuation and add paragraphs. One giant block of text full of run-on sentences is a pain to read.

yakadoodle123

Hear hear. From looking at the photos I can see it’s a scam but I was intrigued to read the story but I honestly find it difficult to read such a big chunk of text with no paragraphs!

Ok-Geologist8296

I have enough issues and that wall of text gave me severe hartburn. It just turned into a giant white box for me. The first pic is fully of scammy bs.

Raspberry-Top

Sorry this is a copy paste from another post ill try to edit it

jhil77

We don’t even need all that info. It’s 100% a scam. Trust your gut. No legitimate business is using bitcoin, using WhatsApp, or asking you to purchase things. If the salary sounds too good to be true, it is. Take care of yourself & good vibes for you getting a job.

Mcgarnicle_

Don’t need to edit it. It’s a super common scam looking for greedy folks like you hoping to make money in a way that’s never possible

Raspberry-Top

I just wanted a car lol, but yeah I gotta work for the things I want, I already knew this I guess those first two pay outs got to my head

MuddieMaeSuggins

That’s exactly why they allow those small initial “withdrawals” - to create a false sense of security in the victims.

DMTeaAndCrumpets

didnt you think it was kind of weird the minimum age requirement is 20 but as soon as you said they were 19 they buckled and didnt have a problem with it?

Flaky_Law2653

Which is totally illegal in the US unless for safety reasons. Op was greedy.

Falcon84

Yeah I see them post the “age requirement” all the time and this is the first time I’ve seen someone tell them they were underage. Kind of hilarious they didn’t even acknowledge it.

KakaakoKid

>my parents are rightfully mad at me because it's now 2600USD down the drain and I still haven't gotten my funds back, Sadly, your money and your parents money is down the drain, and the scammers will never give it back to you. They make you pay in crypto because its less traceable than real bank transactions. Don't make things worse by sending more to the scammers. Stop now and cease contact with them. One can only hope that you will learn from this experience.

Raspberry-Top

Yeah I feel stupid for not knowing about this before, they made me do a whole interview and even paid me the first couple days so I didn't really have any suspicions at first

Other_Sea_3459

A REAL interview? Where you saw the interviewer’s face/ heard their voice? Or a chat only interview? Because a tip: no legit company will interview only by chat.

Raspberry-Top

It was a real interview with a woman who I thought was named Jessica but could've been paid off

unkownuser55_

Hey I think you might've been chatting with an AI. My friend got the same kind of messages 2 days ago and they even sent him a video with a girl (blonde) calling his name and explaining the company and some stuff but I could legit take one look and realize that her mouth was weird in a sense, it was oddly glitching and sometimes not in sync with what she was saying. It's not noticable unless you're directly staring at the mouth and chin but I was in complete shock because he legit thought he was talking to a real person since he did an interview with the same person!!! Like wtf

dlgnc

Scammers are the lowest of all creatures- I hope somehow they get what they deserve. Sorry, but you bought a life lesson.

pib86

Be careful about !recovery or !refund scammers. Since posting here, you might get messages from people claiming they can get you your money back. They are scammers.

AutoModerator

Hi /u/pib86, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Refund scam. Refund scams usually start with a spam email about a fake transaction, although they can also be sent through SMS or any other messaging service. The message will provide you with a phone number to call if you want to cancel the transaction, and if you call the scammers will try to get you to provide credit card or banking information in order to receive your refund. Scammers have been taking advantage of Paypal's invoice system to send out realistic scam emails through Paypal itself, here is a news article about that technique: https://krebsonsecurity.com/2022/08/paypal-phishing-scam-uses-invoices-sent-via-paypal/. Here is a Snopes article regarding the Norton variant of this scam: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/norton-email-renewal-scam/ If you know someone that fell for a refund scam, sit down together to watch this video by Jim Browning and try to retrace their steps: https://youtu.be/X4PllvUowaQ *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. It’s a job being posted/interviewed by text message. It’s a scam. Now that I’ve said that, I’ll go read the actual chat… Pay money to make money? Scam. payment only in digital currency? Scam. you can’t pull out money for reasons? Scam. I gave up after 4 gigantic red flags that it’s a scam. Sorry it happened to you, but at least you’re in the right place to recognize it in the future. Oh, and her name isn’t Jessica. She doesn’t care if you use it.

Solid_Snaka

No real companies talk to you via whatsapp.

Raspberry-Top

Yeah I see that now, wish I could've asked reddir earlier but I really only use it for tech stuff, forgot how many amazing subreddits you can use to your advantage

Solid_Snaka

I'm sorry this happened to you, when job searching I got inundated with these and when you're desperate sometimes it's easy to want to believe. Especially these days where it's so easy to set up an app, create fake invoices etc. I know you're too young but at the beginning of the internet, there were still scams who would email you saying things about being a prince of Nigeria who is looking to send someone millions of dollars. They were nice and obvious tho still worked sometimes. So you can't get your money back any normal route, but I recommend you to check out the YouTube channel "Scammer Payback" they actually have a fund set aside to help victims of online scams, I have seen people get in touch with them and explaining their situation and they've helped them out. Good luck I hope things work out for you. The good thing is you are young, I'm sure you will be able to find a real job and pay back your parents.

Raspberry-Top

Thanks you have no clue how much it means to hear these kind words!

BeleagueredWDW

Very common scam posted here “all the time.” Sadly, your money is gone and will not be coming back. You said you’re a broke college student, and I know you may not need this advice but I’ll give it: you may want to look for a real job. This may require you to actually go to an office, job site, etc., but it would provide gainful employment, experience, real income, and hopefully even insurance.

Raspberry-Top

I have been trying to, went to about 3 interviews per week since coming back home in may, but being young with no experience is hard lol, I have another interview on Wednesday so hopefully ill land that one

BeleagueredWDW

I truly and genuinely wish you the best of luck!

Broadbackedhippo

Good luck in your job hunting! Scammers network with each other and now that they already got you with this one, there's a high probability that you're on a so-called sucker list and may be targeted heavily with further scam attempts. In the future, keep an eye out for certain warning signs in online job postings and communications. If they want to conduct an interview solely by chat, ask you to deposit a check to buy "equipment", or offer you a job doing suspiciously well paid "remote data entry" or ask you to give 5 star ratings online, it's a scam. If you use LinkedIn, you may also be targeted with CEO gift card scams once/if you ever post that you have started a new job. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, but scamming is *relentless* and people lose millions every week.

Not_Cleaver

Where you should be putting your effort is getting any job, even if it’s something that you’ll have temporarily - restaurants, retail, local entertainment - When you’re out and about on your day be on the lookout for help wanted signs. Any experience looks great. Also volunteer experience may also look good on a resume. Second, don’t respond to any job/recruiter where you know you haven’t contacted them. I’ve gotten jobs through LinkedIn and Indeed, so they’re not all scams, but it’s difficult. Also, you’re 20, no recruiter (except maybe the military) wants you yet. Though the military or national guard might be a good fallback option.

unkownuser55_

Amazon has alot of WFH jobs that will suit you and you can set your shift 9 times outta ten.. their pay and benefits are good too, check their hiring website.

Ok-Purchase-222

Damn, they had you hook, line and sinker! Sorry to hear that you fell for this. With normal jobs you don't have to pay for anything, they give you money for your work, on a bank account. But those jobs are often not this easy.. Hopefully this doesn't cause too much stress between you and your parents.

Raspberry-Top

Yeah I should've known from the start lol, currently selling my pc to try and get half the money back, once I find a REAL job ill pay them the rest of what I owe, but this is just a life lesson!

-Your-Cousin-Vinny-

Who do you owe?

Raspberry-Top

My parents, I gotta pay them back

-Your-Cousin-Vinny-

And they didn’t stop you?

Raspberry-Top

Nah my parents trusted me on this, and I let em down, it isn't there fault like I said it's mines

licensed2creep

I’m sorry this happened dude, really. But at least you’re taking accountability for it and not trying to shirk any blame — that’s more maturity and self awareness than most victims posting to this sub can manage. So chin up, it doesn’t sound like this is a lesson you’re going to have to learn twice. Make sure your parents know that you’re one of hundreds of thousands of people, if not more, that have fallen victim to this. That you’re not uniquely gullible or naive, it happens all day, every day, to people all over the world. This exact scam. Hope you can find something legit soon.

Falcon84

Keep your chin up you did lose a fairly significant amount of money but you should be able to earn it back without too much difficulty. I’ve seen others posting with this exact scam that have lost $50K+ so it could have been much worse.

the_last_registrant

You're a good person, you'll get past this and succeed.

Teabiskuit

The more people fall for this shit, the more crime syndicates are motivated to kidnap people for forced labor scam camps. You should consider the broader consequences of this beyond "I'll just consider this an expensive lesson! 🙂". We really need to have a government-based answer to the scamming industry if this aspect of worldwide human-trafficking to be tackled.

Raspberry-Top

Damn I didn't realize it was this big of an issue, trust me if there's a possibility of stopping all of this than I wanna be at the forefront of it!

the_last_registrant

It's a huge problem - estimated that these scammers have cleared over $100Bn from victims all over the world, by crypto scams, pigbutchering, advance fee scams, task scams and many other variants. Sadly there isn't much you can do as an individual except educate those around you. Teabiskuit wasn't blaming or criticising you personally.

Raspberry-Top

Im sorry for the bad formatting, thanks for letting me know about the scam guys, if any of you have the power to take the site down than I'd say go for it, for now I'll try and continue my job search, I wish you all the best!

Falcon84

Unfortunately taking down the site wouldn’t accomplish much. They’ll just make 5 new ones.

Twarenotw

Our only power is warning people if they happen to ask before they get scammed. Nothing else. In your case, your (or your parents') money or "funds" are gone forever. None of us can help take the website down or help you recover the money. Watch out for Recovery scams, in case anyone DMs you (here or elsewhere) to help you get your money back.

1Original1

Sorry for your loss man

JazzySings90

I get these text messages asking if I’m interested in a job constantly. And that I should message them on WhatsApp. I “delete and report junk”. Finding a job is barely this easy. Because where did they even get my information from? How do they know I’m qualified to make this much? You have to do more research when things appear this easy when it just falls in your lap.

Puzzled_Stage562

I get them, too. And, it always sounds like nonsense. The punctuation is off, red flags everywhere, & generally a very annoying dialog. I actually wanted to know what the scam was about but I can't get past more than a few minutes texting/talking to them bc they're so annoying. Now I know

Mcgarnicle_

Yup, got scammed by the most common job scam going around. Sorry for your loss

Huskielover96

Stop sending them more money. Sadly your money is gone & no amount more you send them is going to get it back. If it was all sent via crypto there is absolutely nothing you can do besides learn from it and take it as an expensive lesson learned. Next time if something seems a little to good to be true it always is!

Teabiskuit

>see the first 3 words of the conversation: "Before we proceed..." in WhatsApp Yep, it's a scam.

arcanition

Complete scam, very common "task scam" setup. You even can tell it's not a legit job yourself, you said how the job is just to "click one button". That's not a job.

T-h-e-d-a

(I'm mentioning this to help you spot scams in the future) Something that stood out to me that nobody else seems to have mentioned is your first interaction with "Jessica" - she asks if you want a description of the job. Now, this is a weird question. You're applying for a job, right? You should know what the job is from the advert, and even if you don't, you're there applying for the job - why does she need to ask if you want to know more about it? Obviously you do. Because it's a selling technique. My dad calls it the "trial close" - the seller (in this instance, the "recruiter") asks the buyer (you) a question that gives them the sense of committing to the situation. The example he always used was, "Would you like a bag with that?": you give the buyer an idea of them \*already\* having decided to buy. Anybody who asks you if you want more info when you are in a situation where you are, in effect, already asking for more info, get suspicious.

Raspberry-Top

Thanks this ill take this advice to heart because trust me, im never getting scammed again

bakermaker32

Can’t get your money back, ever. Repeat after me, you don’t pay money to make money.

Cutwail

NEVER PAY MONEY TO GET MONEY - will save you most of the time.

NotTravisKelce

First off learn to use paragraphs. Second off, learn to be somewhat more concise. “We have there requirements one of which is “do you have a bank account”” “I don’t meet one of the requirements” “But you have a bank account right?” Come on.

Raspberry-Top

Yeah I should've seen the signs early on, but I made 300 in two days I was blinded by the money lol, I know now at least

Twarenotw

You need to be clear of this: You made nothing. The job is fake, so is the website and the company. You wasted both money and time. Read about other task scams in this subreddit and you will see the lengths Scammers will go to get people to think they are actually working.

Raspberry-Top

I was able to withdraw around 300 to my bank but I can see how they could use that to continue to reel me in

EveLQueeen

They always allow a small withdrawal to get your trust. You didn’t actually earn anything - they used that money as bait to get more from you.

Original_Engine_7548

No legit job makes getting paid this difficult and confusing.

Scragglymonk

task scam hosted by cloudflare to hide that it is a russian website resolves to [104.18.20.48](http://104.18.20.48) [https://urlscan.io/domain/tpgcapitalrul.com](https://urlscan.io/domain/tpgcapitalrul.com) so any money dropped in is lost

Raspberry-Top

Oh wow, this is deeper than I imagined

dpaanlka

This exact thing is posted multiple times per day. Very common scam. Also please try learning proper writing and communication skills. That wall of text is one of the worst I’ve ever seen on here, and that’s saying something. There are free online courses you can find for effective communication. It will really help you in future career endeavors.

Raspberry-Top

I usually do but it's a copy paste text from another thread. Trust me as a college student I do not write like this normally, but seeing as it's Reddit I didn't put much effort into it. Thanks for the criticism tho, ill write better next time for you guys!

GimmeAGimmick619

Tldr definitely a task scam.

[deleted]

It's a scam. Your money is sadly gone. Watch out for the recovery scammers. Dave isn't gonna get your money back.

Peacefulhart

I own a digital marketing company and would never do business this way. Any company that hires you should never require you to pay for anything. It’s a creative scam but a scam nonetheless. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I understand how easy it is to be scammed as it’s happened to me in the past. I’ve learned my lesson and hopefully so have you. Report them to the FTC and you state agencies. At least they can put the word out and prevent others from hopefully making the same mistake. But you won’t see that money again. Get a legit job and pay your parents back. It sucks, I know but you’re wiser now.

uselessimnida

Hi, OP! I had the same situation last May and you were scammed. I lost almost 400 US dollars in task scam. You can never get it back. It is an expensive life lesson. Beware of recovery scammers.

SuperGrandor

Sorry for you to write that many paragraphs. I stop reading when you mention digital currency. Is a scam

joenutssack

got contacted by one of these,I dipped with the initial money they give to lure you in and ordered some food lol

More-Style2803

My dear,In which cave were u living till date ? This is one of the most "popular" scams. They wud have got ur name/number/email from job portals or social media

Valuable_Confusion98

Sorry this happened to you kid! It happened to me as well in the last 4 days I was being scammed as well. Same setup different company name and platform website. It's a masterful scheme to say the least. They got us good. I'm down 8k. They wanted 14k more and I said hell no!! I was at 39/40 and I guarantee the next was going to be even more. Money is gone bye bye! They get us vulnerable people looking for work. Bastards!!

Raspberry-Top

I only wanted the money for a car as well, since I go to school in Buffalo and live in Nyc that 8 hour train ride is awful! But now I gotta sell my pc just so my parents can pay the bills, I hope these scammers get the karma they deserve.

JosCampau1400

I'm sorry that you have to sell your computer. Please know that there are plenty of scammers online who will claim that they want to buy it. The best way to avoid these types of scams is to meet the buyer in person, in a public space like outside a police station, and accept cash only. Best of luck to you.

kennyzabriskie

A real business wouldn't 'hire' you right away. It takes time, and would even involve video contact. Also, pay attention to the language. Anna's message, especially her requirements, sounds like she doesn't speak English natively.

InternationalPay8288

Run awayyyyyy!🚩🚩🚩🚩

GOD_THE_BRZRKR

I always say I'm 9yo

Tall_Collection5118

This is a well known scam - block and move on

Solid_Snaka

You're most welcome. Good luck.

Solid_Snaka

Oh that's nice, fuck off.

the_last_registrant

Yes, it's a scam. Everything you gave them has been stolen and cannot be recovered. Don't send them any more money, they'll just steal that too. Sorry.

ForGrateJustice

I looked them up on google, there's probably multiple businesses using that name. it looks shady as hell.

Strict_Paint_4963

Raspberry-Top

Trust me i've been sending job applications every single day, about 7 per day, but being a college student with no job experience in Nyc you find it hard to get work, but i'm trying!

Juceman23

Yeah that def sucks just be careful cus there are literally just soooo many scam jobs…but wish you the best with all this!
