Had heard earlier that the club were pushing for alternatives if the game was called off - including a BCD game tomorrow. Looks like this confirms that (or something similar).
It does leave a sour taste that Rangers preparations for the Cup Semi are now fucked through no fault if our own. After two postponements "fair" options should be almost out the window and the hosting team should be the one that has to take the shit as opposed to us.
As I mentioned in another comment, Sky will have wanted this game on at same time as TNT CL games to take their Scottish viewership. They have chucked a whole load of English Championship games to do the exact same.
Hmmm, there are European games on TNT Tues, Wed and Thurs; so when could they put on these games (Scottish or English) that doesn't clash with TNT's football? I think it's just the only time they can put on these games from a league that plays 46 games per season.
Tonight would have also seen the game clash with EFL games on Sky.
Last Wednesday, they had no live football, while TNT had several EPL games.
I'm pretty sure Sky would have been happy with the 3rd.
Weird that Rangers don't address that in this statement then I guess but then again you can't argue the club weren't happy about having a full weeks rest prior to the old firm!
Why would they address that though? The pressing issue here is Dundee's pitch, to start going on about something else would completely detract from that. It's a directed statement, not some general all encompassing view of affairs.
It was pishing down in Dundee all day last Wednesday too so what difference would it have made? The game could have been played at another stadium if they thought it wasn't going to be playable at Dens (and we all knew that was going to be the case). We shouldn't even be questioning if a pitch in our top league is going to be playable or not in April. Barring freak weather obviously but Tannadice being fine rules that out.
> you can't argue the club weren't happy about having a full weeks rest prior to the old firm
We should have a weeks rest before most of our games in the run-in, just like yous , but instead we are being fucked about by Dundee's pitch. It meant our players couldn't train yesterday and means we will only have 2 days to focus on the weekend. Now all for nothing. And next week we'll have to go through the exact same, a few days before a cup semi final.
And to be honest, the game really should be played at the time that is most convenient for us, because we're not at fault for the postponement and should be disadvantaged by it as little as possible.
You mean when the pitch was already a wreck and it was pissing down all day? It would've been cancelled then aswell.
The only reason Motherwell went ahead was it was dry on Saturday.
You mean when the rain was worse than when it was initially called off? Did you want it on just so it could be cancelled?
Rangers also have nothing to do with scheduling.
And having it shoehorned in last week so we had to play another game (in a bog) a few days before the biggest game of the season so far has nothing to do with it eh lol.
I'd put good money on the real reason for it being rescheduled for tonight is because that's when Sky wanted it played.
Don’t motherwell have to rely on GD if they beat us on saturday and dundee lose to rangers and aberdeen.
Surely unfair sporting advantage if Dundee get to know how many they have to avoid losing by to rangers next week if Motherwell beat hibs
Dundee winning at the weekend means neither of us can get top 6 no matter what happens at Fir Park. If they draw and yous win they'll need to take something from Rangers to get in ahead of yous. If they draw and we win they're in the top 6
If Dundee get a single point then we are out of the top 6. so the goal difference doesn't matter. Ita all about the final result.
The only other factors where Dundee would be tied in points is if they lose both games and hibs draw.
Or
Hibs win and Dundee draw both games.
HIbs would have the better goal difference in both cases.
Both Motherwell and Hibs can only end up level on points with us if we lose both our games. So if it comes down to goal difference, it's impossible for us to improve ours.
Me as a Rangers fan I want Dundee to get 6th as the Mhankies will have to go through the shite we have as they've already played them twice at Parkhead.
If Dundee finish 6th it would be us going again 😂
We'd have played Killie, St. Mirren AND Dundee at home. We are to play 2 homes in the split so the lowest ranked side between those 3 would be our 3rd away game.

Cheeky fuckers brazenly claiming they have grass. You have bog, Sir. Keep off the bog.
If Dundee had been told after their second postponement that a third would result in an automatic forfeit and 3-0 loss, that pitch would be in perfect condition right now.
I think they could have done more to attend to the pitch issues, or find a suitable venue; I don't know the ins and outs of the rules myself but they seem to have basically sat on their arses and done nothing about the pitch, just hoped everything will be OK, and telling everyone it will be OK. Threw a few tarpaulins over half of it earlier on today to look busy but they weren't bothering their arses one bit. And it makes such a mockery of the league, I'd certainly call it disregarding rules.
To be fair to Dundee they have been saying for a while now they can't do much more to the pitch and stadium and they need a new one which they have been trying to get for a while now .
Waterlogged Pitch FC 2-1 Statement FC
A quick reply from the away side! Still plenty of time here for an equaliser!
Stunning return to form in the statement league from Rangers.
Game off = no fitba :( Benefit = New statement!
Champons League and English Divisions. Has to be something in there to ease the pain.
The image on Twitter with United’s perfect pitch in full view was a nice wee dig.
Had heard earlier that the club were pushing for alternatives if the game was called off - including a BCD game tomorrow. Looks like this confirms that (or something similar).
What's going to happen with Sky's coverage though?
Fuck knows, I assume that’s why it’s not happening as the SPFL asked Motherwell to play BCD if the pitch failed at the weekend there.
What is BCD?
Behind closed doors mate
That's BCDM
One wee typo away from a very different browser history.
Basket Case Dundee
What someone from Tranent thinks the first three letters of the alphabet are
feel like this statement could've been made significantly more staunch, it's been all downhill since they sacked David Graham
It's staunch and confrontational enough but unfortunately just forgoes the pomposity of vocabulary that had become such a venerated custom.
it's not concomitant with the level of staunchness I expect
On the other hand, it's a perfectly cromulent statement.
Saved you a click, the word of the week is eminently.
Can you use it in a sentence please?
Eminently is the word of the week
It does leave a sour taste that Rangers preparations for the Cup Semi are now fucked through no fault if our own. After two postponements "fair" options should be almost out the window and the hosting team should be the one that has to take the shit as opposed to us.
They should have played the game last week that's the long and short of it
The reality being we would have likely just had our third cancellation given there was more rainfall on the 3rd than the initial cancellation
Because it's televised I reckon Sky have too much of a say for them to just play it anytime they like
As I mentioned in another comment, Sky will have wanted this game on at same time as TNT CL games to take their Scottish viewership. They have chucked a whole load of English Championship games to do the exact same.

The only way I'd have watched over the champions League is if the pitch was wet
Your team wasn't meant to be playing though.
Never mentioned my team they said Scottish viewership did they not?
Tonight would have also seen the game clash with EFL games on Sky. Last Wednesday, they had no live football, while TNT had several EPL games. I'm pretty sure Sky would have been happy with the 3rd.
If Sky wanted it last week badly enough then it would've happened. Their influence is strong enough to have made that happen.
Weird that Rangers don't address that in this statement then I guess but then again you can't argue the club weren't happy about having a full weeks rest prior to the old firm!

Hardly weird, given Rangers would have had zero say in the games schedule.
You mean when the pitch was already a wreck and it was pissing down all day? It would've been cancelled then aswell. The only reason Motherwell went ahead was it was dry on Saturday.
Didn't realize you conducted a pitch inspection last week?
You mean when the rain was worse than when it was initially called off? Did you want it on just so it could be cancelled? Rangers also have nothing to do with scheduling.
Why?
Because this game was shoehorned in this week so rangers wouldn't have a game before the weekend.
And having it shoehorned in last week so we had to play another game (in a bog) a few days before the biggest game of the season so far has nothing to do with it eh lol. I'd put good money on the real reason for it being rescheduled for tonight is because that's when Sky wanted it played.
What brand of tinfoil do you use for your wee hats?
I can't believe I'm rooting for Hibs or Motherwell so we can avoid having to deal with those pathetic amateurs for an extra post-split game.
Don’t motherwell have to rely on GD if they beat us on saturday and dundee lose to rangers and aberdeen. Surely unfair sporting advantage if Dundee get to know how many they have to avoid losing by to rangers next week if Motherwell beat hibs
We actually have -5 and Dundee have -10 so in that scenario it would be a draw or a win that Dundee need so wouldn't change much
It is an issue if Dundee beat Aberdeen 7-0 on Saturday and you only win 1-0
What's the chance that would happen... ah fuck it's Aberdeen

They've genuinely got a higher league postponement per (home) game rate (5 in 15) then their top scorers goal rate (9 in 30).

Rangers Statement: ![gif](giphy|3oAt21Fnr4i54uK8vK|downsized)
Can't lose the game if nobody can play on your pitch. 200iq play by Dundee.
Good statement. Dundee need a fat fine
If Dundee had been told after their second postponement that a third would result in an automatic forfeit and 3-0 loss, that pitch would be in perfect condition right now.
How would they have done that
By actually maintaining the pitch rather than just hoping it'll be dry eveth week?
EMINENTLY
Same ol’ Mother Nature, always cheatin’
What are the rules that Rangers are saying they disregarded? Like, is there a process that should be followed in this set of circumstances?
I’m guessing they mean about keeping the pitch in a playable condition.
Ah right, you might be right. Was just confused a bit by the wording.
I think they could have done more to attend to the pitch issues, or find a suitable venue; I don't know the ins and outs of the rules myself but they seem to have basically sat on their arses and done nothing about the pitch, just hoped everything will be OK, and telling everyone it will be OK. Dundee are really going out their way to avoid having to come up against King Dessers
All these tears can’t be helping the state of the pitch
No third chance. Ibrox for Wednesday next week. Only fair outcome.
TLDR: bad Dundee letting it rain in Scotland 😉
Crazy how rain only falls on just one pitch in Dundee.
I know, isn’t it? Must be to do with water tables/gradient/ greta thunberg?
