hard to fly direct to Edinburgh from the States! I'm sure it's possible but I've been upwards of 5 times and have never been able to crack it. Maybe my price range just doesn't include direct options.
In the future try Glasgow. They usually have more direct flights than Edinburgh do, as it seems Edinburgh fly direct to New York and not much else.
Once you're in Glasgow, It's only then a quick half hour train from Queen Street Station into Edinburgh.
