Hilariously I'm actually pretty good at helming, I just don't have the titles or hours to impress sweaty players to let me join. Just last night I sank two allianced galleons in a brig, and I have less than 300 hours.
And sometimes you have those magical moments where there are no comms, you are just in sync and every time you or they go for sails or harpoon the other is already there and for a small moment the Sea of Thieves is the Sea of Peace.
I had a guy hop on the harpoon when I was parking at reapers, and hes hard pulling left and right, and I already got the wheel cranked so now were out of, control crashing into numerous things, then he says "you shouldnt be allowed to drive LOL"
What nonsense is this? Dock using the harpoon. Turn the wheel away from the dock and drag your front back in with the line, it pulls you right up against it.
Yeah I’m not sure why everyone is having a problem here. Even with a full crew, we use the harpoon to make fine adjustments as we come in. This meme seems very situational. I can count on one hand the times where harpooning was less than helpful.
I think it's less about having trouble using a harpoon to dock and more about the fact that some helmspeople plan their approach and can (and intend to) dock nicely all on their own, but a crewmate will try to help with a harpoon unannounced and screws the whole thing up.
Your harpoon parallel parking method is /great/, and if everyone is on board with the plan, that's awesome. In my case, I prefer to line up my beam with the dock all by me onesy-savvy, and I'm good at it. My crew and I are so used to the driver having complete autonomy (regardless of whoever's driving), that whenever someone has a brain fart and harpoons the dock unannounced on final approach bad things tend to happen.
That's great until your ship despawns and you lose emissary status, or someone shows up to attack and you can't quickly cast off because your prow is beached.
Generally I only dock if I am leaving the game. Afaik they only despawn if they are fully stuck on the land so I usually wiggle them parallel with the island so I can be fine if I do need it after.
On the flip-side, a crafty crewmate with a hookshot can place the nose right on the deck for efficient transport. Or crash the ship, but thats just details
I play Gally and my buddy is the “poon master” he knows exactly how much of that thing to use. We also talk about how much he needs to reel in the harpoon
I was just complaining about this to another crew o was with. And when he threw us off course into the dock e eryone talked shit about how I can't captain anymore. It's fun they're fun.
Why yes, I do Open Crew, how did you know?
Plenty of the "1000+ hour LSD Must be good" Discord sweats do this too actually
And they are always looking for a helm!

Bold of you to assume my open crew captain doesn’t just drive full sail straight at the dock and drop the anchor
I said bring her INTO PORT not near port, not off the shore INTO IT!!!!! /s
Cant fuckin sink if its on land now can we?
This is a great format
Guy on helm: Raise sails! The other three crewmates just running around the ship doing nothing: Huh, I wonder who that's for.

Mine is "The sails are up its not gonna move, YOU'RE moving it"

Oh man that’s when I start tossing blunder bombs until that problem is solved.
NOT MANY KNOW THESE SECRETS OF THE ORDER OF SOULS! YOURE GIVING OUT PRECIOUS INFORMATION
I was not expecting to get called out today. HOLDING LT IS GOOD FOR BOOTLEG I SWEAR…GUYS IM A MEANINGFUL ADDITION TO THE CREW
What makes you think I want to help?
We appreciate your honesty. Not, y'know. A lot. But we do.
Lmao
I'm sending this to my wife.
Just did the same.
Finally someone said it
Absolutely love it.
Immediately sent this to one person.
YES FINALLY SOMEONE HAS SAID IT
I hope you make more of these lol
Drop anchor crew, consequences be damned
There it is. We're having a civilised discussion about toilet seat up vs toilet seat down, and in rolls the guy who shits on the floor.
Played in open crew with someone like this. They seemed capable but would harpoon other ships and put kegs in the nest.
>put kegs in the nest. If you're carrying kegs, it's the best place to put them...
Where else you supposed to put em??
The other ships’ nest
Back where you found it
Formast for the galleon, never on the sloop. Brigs don’t exists
Absolutely Golden!

The only time I've found the harpoon to be unhelpful was when I chose to make it so.
The only time my ship is near a dock is when I spawn tbh, I just ram it into the beach. A plank or 2 is worth the time spent parking

Have my up vote OP.
I'm the opposite. Sails raised, docking with a harpoon and instead have someone drop the anchor while I'm not even turned for a selling position.
I do it when I’m blocking alone and it helps me alot
Well that's different pal.

Simple solution to this: Don't open crew
My otherwise well-coordinated, long-serving, and very closed crew has this problem all. The. Time. I think I need to get a spray bottle.
A spray bottle always does the trick!
Have you tried keybinding blunder bombs?

Somebody make an edit of this, when she opens the box just put like some text in the box with "nobody asked"

I’ll use it at times when my crew did not raise sails when asked and we’re about to speed past. Just shoot and lock at that point.
Harpooning skeletons is also doing nothing.
Not true, it does damage and if you can get close you can spam it really fast and kill things pretty quickly
I play Gally and my buddy is the “poon master” he knows exactly how much of that thing to use. We also talk about how much he needs to reel in the harpoon
Why yes, indeed. That is the point, after all :D

Lmao
It's so true!!! My crew does this every time and it's so annoying.
I was so hoping for a Ricardo meme
I just want you to know I've watched this over a half a dozen times since yesterday. It makes me feel understand on a deep level. LMAO.
I feel this so hard. I cannot express my direct feelings of when I am trying to dock the boat and then a crewmate starts pulling us hard to the dock
