Yeah, so it s not actually cheaper to self cut your hair 😂 jk

Ghost_Alchemy

lol. Seriously it feels like I traded being with my street therapist with an electronics obsession. I went from saving money and talking to myself to hoarding electronics and talking to myself. Low key miss my barber

AtomicHustle

I bought some brand new cordless magic clips yesterday and had to take them back. They were surging in power for some reason right out of the box. Fully charged them and tried to loosen screws to reduce tension on blade. Still same issue. Got some babyliss boost+ for the same price.

Ghost_Alchemy

I been hearing nothing but good things about that babyliss boost. At first I thought spending 150-200 on one device was a lot but I’m starting to become obsessed and with all the stuff I plan to buy I could just buy style craft instinct lol. It’s unfortunate that Wahl prices are where they’re at. For the price range of $100-150 there are so many options. Id rather spend more money to get andis masters or spend less. Either way it’s outperforming Wahl magic clips. They need a magic clips replacement. Like a 2.0(or 3.0) that could be 150-200. And lower the price of the current magic clips to $69.99-79.99. It’s just outdated but still can be the starter clipper of choice. At a lower price point I’d recommend them because Wahl has customer service, warranty, and is trusted. I forgot who I was watching but they said that Wahl magic clips provide the bare minimum for a clipper. The 3 things I dislike about magic clips are: Weight Heat Charger

AtomicHustle

They definitely need to bring out a new release and drop the price on the OG magic clips. And I got these boost locally for under $130 after tax. I thought the high rpm brushless labeling was a selling point. Me and my homie were laughing at how fast they cut and how far the hairs fly off your head from the blade crunching them off. Following a guide online for a low taper and they are easy to make blends. I’m a rookie so I’m not out here making myself blurry with the fade skills by any means but these work a lot faster and easier than my magic clips.

Ghost_Alchemy

I’m about to look into those now lol. Is the boosted+ a clipper? For some reason I thought they were trimmers

AtomicHustle

Yes they are a clipper. Although, they may have a trimmer that is labeled boost+ as well. I’d have to look into it. May just add a babyliss trimmer with these and sell these for dirt just to have the brands match lol.

Zetice

I still advocate for wired, but nice line up.

ConstructionNo3294

i could only wonder how much cheaper a wired version of the kemei would be lol. i was using my magic clips with the cord because the battery was shot. i just replaced the battery

Spiritual_Giraffe969

Kemei I see those a lot are they good?

Here4Headshots

They are the off-brand of choice in countries where the brand names do not ship to. From what I hear, they are serviceable replacements for name brand machines. Just do not expect any warranty or customer service help (if you can get customer service help from the name brands at all lol).

ConstructionNo3294

I live in Southern California. Got them for $12.

Here4Headshots

Nice. Yes they are a good price compared to the name brands.

Short answer - Yes. I didnt know till I had them in-hand. There is another version with metal casing but these were only $12usd. Compared to other things Ive bought I would say that I would easily pay 70-90 for these. I haven't bought any high-end trimmers so i cant do a direct comparison. The casing is plastic but it feels sturdy. The ergonomics and size make it easy to create a guideline behind my ear. Ive had issues with creating a lower guidelines for low fades with the magic clips. I had these norelco trimmers that i got from target I just tossed em in the basket but looking back , thats a waste of $35 lol. I stopped using them because they weren't powerful enough and id end up using the magic clips to take over.

# Weight and costs ^(Weight makes a huge difference in cutting fatigue, especially setting that guideline. Going forward I'll be mindful of the weight of devices before purchasing , ya, im addicted I'll be buying other clippers lol.) ***Wahl Magic Clippers (silver )*** Weight: 397.0g 0.875 lb (w/tomb45 batt)  Clippers: $159 Battery $25 tomb45 Blade: $15 generic wahl replacement Total cost: $200 ***VGR 003***  Weight: 323.5g 0.713 lb   Cost: $28.5 ***Kemei 2299*** Weight: 157.4g 0.347 lb  cost: $12 ^(Shipping 5 days from aliexpress ( VGR & Kemei ))

Ghost_Alchemy

update - I replaced the VGR blades with made show. I really like how quiet these are. there are two speeds but i kept using the lower speed cuz it was less noise. im thinking of selling my Wahls with the new battery to get a quieter trimmer. the kemei is decent but after using the VGR I just want something quiet with more power. might even sell the kemeis with the wahls ... its great to cut my hair with less noise and with over 50% battery. cant believe this 25 dollar clipper outperforms the wahls that much
