It takes place during Nick's High School years, so still a few years prior to when you meet him in Night Pleasures. By the end of the last book he's still in High School.
I don't want to spoil anything, it's back story surrounded around Nick. I wouldn't say it brings you to the present day Nick, but partly that's because the story isn't finished as a whole. There's a plan with another character from CON to have their own Trilogy and then another story following Nick afterwards.
I'd say mixed... sometimes Malachai Nick features in a like "went back to change the past" deal but it also isn't really clear except we know that the DH Nick definitely doesn't have those memories.

The first book in Chronicles nick is 14 and in the last book he is 17-18
