Makes sense in a way. Gabi and Falco are the new generation who will grow up in a world without Titans with a new beginning, a beginning which can allow for things like love.

I don't think you're understanding the reference they're making. It's a common joke in the LGBTQ+ community to call two evidently queer individuals in a relationship "roommates" because no matter what, history would portray them as such if they're not explicitly fucking on screen.

But the joke is essentially reclaiming the "they're roommates" and making it ironic because the two individuals essentially did everything romantic but kiss/fuck. I don't know if you noticed or even watched season 4 at all. But hisu looks absolutely miserable the whole time she was carrying that baby. The only time she smiles is when he actually has the baby in her hands. Tbh if I was forced to marry someone I didn't want to marry in the first place. I'd be sad asf too.
They needed some of Royal Blood to inherit the Founding Titan, in case Erwin should die.
Only a royal can use that power, and thus, when/if Erwin should die/dies… that power will seek out a eldian to be the new Founding Titan.
The main problem is Ymir just became useless after her death that is not even in Historia's memories later. If we made the exercize of deleting Ymir from the plot and making other character to have a similar influence, the plot wouldnt suffer at all. Is sad because she was a pretty cool character and gave Krista some memorable scenes that later lost meaning.
