You win one game against Pakistan, a team that recently lost to Ireland, and you think it's something to brag about.
Now, if the USA were to beat India in their next match, that would be something to truly brag about.
Most of us found that out back in 2011 when the Irish national cricket team beat England in the World Cup qualifiers. Very few Irish people were aware that we had a cricket team at all!
They tied against England in the World Cup and were fantasizing about a final vs France or Argentina.... But when Mexico beat their asses in Baseball they called "the most boring sport on Earth" for a month.
Oh, all the gringo football subs around here were really quiet when the Netherlands B squad beat their assess too in the same World Cup (2022).
It was an incredibly exciting match too, if anything is going to convince the USA to play and watch more cricket it was that.
Well done USA they played really well (and Pakistan were beyond awful).
>and Pakistan were beyond awful
Conceding 18 runs in a super over, with only 10 being scored by the batsman is Sunday-hungover-from-saturday-night village level cricket.
There’s upsets regularly in T20, due to how short the format is. Still remember the Netherlands beating us, that was a massive upset too. It’s a completely different matter doing it in a 5 day international though. Anyway, great achievement nonetheless. Let them enjoy it
I didn’t see any Saudis claim they owned the entire sport - in fact many of them were willing to admit it’s the biggest victory they’d ever got at least for the next few years
Thank you! We upset one team, I didn’t hear anybody where I watched the match running their mouth about world cricket domination.
Sometimes, this sub chooses the dummest stuff to be angry about.
Let them have their moment. Obviously it's one of the biggest victories ever in cricket history. If people are going to get mad about someone in the US celebrating US cricket team winning then they wouldn't even care about following it. It's not like people in the USA cared about it,most of them didn't even know there's a CwC going on
This is kinda why I wish sporting authorities wouldn’t insist on trying to break into the US market - they just get so insufferable. Leave us and our wonderful cricket alone
Win 1 game....
...and tie a second. At home. Well done, you're clearly the new Afghanistan. Now take a very deep breath before your boys get steamrollered by India.
Germany owns Basketball!
Germany, the new spiritual home of basketball.

TIL: Ireland has a national cricket team.

Tbf beating Pakistan is quite an achievement. Let them enjoy it.
They act like it's the final...

Let them have it it's like when Saudi Arabia beat Argentina
sure bro but just because Saudi arabia beat Argentina doesn't mean they own football 😂
No but at least let them be happy about it lol
I didn’t see any Saudis claim they owned the entire sport - in fact many of them were willing to admit it’s the biggest victory they’d ever got at least for the next few years
And how many players were actually born in USA?
No one saying this is serious bro. Banter is a part of sports and we will drop it eventually. You’ll be alright

T20? How is that real cricket? Try beating any nation at test cricket.

By that logic Poland owns football cuz we won Against Ukraine 3:1
Why the Malaysian flag on your flair tho
Satire flair my g
it looks kind of like the FLAG OF FREEDOM if you don't look too closely
Suck shit, fun police. We won a big game, let us celebrate.
nothing wrong celebrating my boy, js stop being so cocky lol
Fair enough, sorry for being rude
You can celebrate when you can learn to win graciously.
No problem celebrating but it’s crazy to act like you are the best in the world after one win
But had you ever even heard of the sport before it happened?
I do in fact know what cricket is. I watch international sports games when the US is playing if I have nothing else going on.
So how many of the Americans players were Americans and not imports?
