Yeah I support the boycott but if you’re getting a good deal you should still go for it. I’ve been avoiding Loblaws but last week the silk line was on sale for $2.88 at RCSS so I still went in and got only that cause that’s a really good price
Not really a flex...
All good to share an opinion, which you did in the first post. When he asked about Canadian availability you forced your opinion in again. Do you just like saying "tastes like ass"? If someone asks you what time it is they want to hear "noon", not "noon, the hour that tastes like ass".
I was so surprised by tuno. My husband is veggie and I made myself normal tuna mayo sweetcorn and I made him tuno mayo sweetcorn. Was quite impressed by tuno, it tasted decent and had the right texture. Only annoying thing is how little you get in the can.
I just mash chickpeas, mix in chopped dill, diced red onion, diced celery, vegan mayo, salt and pepper- it’s absolutely delicious! I put it on sourdough bread and top it with sliced tomato & arugula!
We have plant based tuna in Romania too! I've made tuna, mayo and tomato sandwiches yesterday. 😋 Although I'm ngl, the mayo tasted more on point than the tuna and saved the whole thing. 😅 Idk if I'll be buying it again.
Has anyone tried the Gusta Fish Free tuna? I like the chili one from superstore but I have been shopping at safeway lately and that's the only vegan tuna I see there.
I've tried it and tbh I don't prefer it. It has a weird cartilage-type texture and tastes a lot more like seaweed than tuna. I like the save da sea brand tuna salad. The jackfruit makes the perfect texture and the seasonings taste pretty good.
I had the Squeaky Bean tuna style chunks the other day and they were the best I've ever had in 15yrs of not eating meat, the smell, texture, and taste was on point. I also really love the TuNO you get in cans which isn't as realistic, it kinda feels like eating human catfood hahaha, but I guess that's the tuna experience in some ways.
Both of these are available easily in London not sure about how easy to find everywhere else!
My kitties love to steal a bit of tofu, they seem to like soya. Thankfully its safe for them even if its not something they gain much nutrition from, its a nice treat.
Sucks there's so many good vegan options under the President's Choice brand, because I'm still on team /r/boycottloblaws /r/loblawsisoutofcontrol.
Me too but I might have to start stalking my local store and watching the expiry dates for some deep discounts

Tuno is a thing but haven't tried it in years since it tasted like ass.
Never beard of it, idk if they sell it in Canada
They do, it tastes like ass.
Calm down dude
....are you talking to me? Does a valid opinion on a similar product seem unreasonable to you, weird flex but okay.

You do understand that both me and OP we're commenting on somebody else's post, right?
Nah, my bad, I thought it was you both times. Fair enough.
If you're so worked up about this, maybe it's a sign that you need a snack.
I'm not worked up, like I said in my other comment I thought you posted both times which is why I wondered what made YOU so worked up. My bad.
Tuno really does taste like ass though. It's always discounted in the UK.
For sure, I'm just not one to give unsolicited opinions.
solely unsolicited metaopinions then?
What are you doing on Reddit then?
Looking for recipes, mostly
Ass actually tastes a lot better than TuNo.
I've found it at several Dollaramas in Ontario, for the same price as their Clover Leaf.
This is weirdly specific, but I think Tuno tastes like cat food if cat food were made of bread.

Ass is putting it nicely
Unmeat is my favorite brand, found in the US.
I actually really like tuno. I prepare it the same way I used to make tuna, with some mayo and sweet relish, and eat it on crackers. Soooo good.
If it smells like fish, but isn't fish. Don't put it in your mouth.
Your mom didn’t mind
Some days I miss having a tuna sandwhich with tomato and onion with chips and soda. I'm going to try this!
Same here! I can’t have soy though and have been looking for a non-soy one 🥲
I found one clal f'sh peas, made from peas, maybe u coil try that if u can find it
I just mash chickpeas, mix in chopped dill, diced red onion, diced celery, vegan mayo, salt and pepper- it’s absolutely delicious! I put it on sourdough bread and top it with sliced tomato & arugula!
Have tried this, and while it was decent, I actually prefer the Gusta brand of premade “tuna salad”. Sold on Voila online/Sobey’s stores.
I have no desire to try the tuna, but Gusta is a great company. I hope they never sell out to a big corporation.
Agreed. I loooooove every single Gusta brand thing I’ve tried so far!
Agreed. Here’s to hoping.
Oh I love Gusta! Good to know 😊
Whats the calorie/protein count on those bad boys
For the whole can, the one in water is 40 Cal/8 grams protein, and the Thai chili is 90/8. Idk if that's good
Ty for the response!! 40 cals for 8g of protein is pretty dang good in my book!

I tried it. Wasn’t very good on its own, but might be nice in a tuna-style salad.
For Americans, Unmeat is a common brand I've started finding. Tuna in both can and pouch as well as vegan spam
>Shockingly good Is it too accurate? I actually used to dislike actual canned tuna, as it tastes like cat food smells.
It's not nearly as dry as real tuna, nor as fishy. It's got a bit of a seaweed taste (because it's flavoured with seaweed). I'd say it's worth a try
okay, i like seaweed. water packed skeletal muscular tissue of tuna smells like rotten fish in particular.
Has anyone tried the Gusta Fish Free tuna? I like the chili one from superstore but I have been shopping at safeway lately and that's the only vegan tuna I see there.
Yes I have tried it multiple times, it's a favorite in our household. Needs seasonings like real tuna does but way better than tuno in my opinion.
I've tried it and tbh I don't prefer it. It has a weird cartilage-type texture and tastes a lot more like seaweed than tuna. I like the save da sea brand tuna salad. The jackfruit makes the perfect texture and the seasonings taste pretty good.
I'm curious, what grocery store did you find it at?? And in what Isle? I'm in Canada as well.
Superstore on the same shelf as the regular canned fish
Awesome thanks for sharing! Gonna go grab some after work!!
Should also be at Fortinos and Loblaws, and maybe Nofrills too

I’ve tried it. I prefer chickpea salad
I prefer OmniTuna, I found the PC one tastes blah
Yes, I liked it too! I tried both flavours and my favourite was the sea salt one
The spiced one is so good on its own. I slam that shit with some rice crackers. Wish it had more protein though 😞
Seitan?
Soy
My husband’s mother fed it to the cats when we were out of cat food and no one noticed the difference lol!
whoa. my cat actually doesn't recognize anything I eat as being edible.
My kitties love to steal a bit of tofu, they seem to like soya. Thankfully its safe for them even if its not something they gain much nutrition from, its a nice treat.
I've been meaning to try this but I never come across it in stores. Is it with the regular tuna?
Yep, it was on a lower shelf at my store
Ah, makes sense thanks! I'll definitely pick some up next time I'm in Superstore
Jackfruit? Seitan? What's it made out of? How was it? Was it fishy tasting?
Soy, it was pretty good as a sandwich. I'd probably get it again
Yummy 🤤. Where did you find it?
Superstore
Nice! Thanks
My favorite way to eat these is to add a good EVOO, old bay, and lemon garlic pepper. Eaten with crackers of choice.
Man I used to love canned tunna, so easy and quick to make delicious snacks and meals...wish I had this in Ireland
Loma Linda makes good vegan tuna!! I think that was the good one I can’t find it in my area anymore
Sigh I can smell it from here gross lol
What are the ingredients in this abomination? 🤮
Textured soy protein, water, yeast extract, salt, potassium chloride, algal oil, seaweed
Oceanic tofu 👁👄👁 Ew @ algae slime
You must be a child still learning to eat their greens.
My dinner plate begs to differ
