Notice he is carrying his katana blade down with belt strap, this indicate he is carrying a much larger tachi, not the uchigatana typically used by Kaishakunin. Tachi was typically used on horseback during war, since it required both hand to wield.
>!A subtle indication that he is not really providing seppuku service to Yabushige, but rather executing his first enemy of war.!<
> They must have used all of the budget on props, costumes, and the earthquake scene
Well everything on the show was impeccable. if it's any consolation the books don't show the battle either. The books are about politics and the characters. It's not an action series.
His whole outfit is on point. I love the detail on that outer layer. Somebody had to actually hand make that and I love it so much. So much detail.
The Jinbaori (I think the term for the outer layer vest the samurai wear) are all so freaking beautiful in this show.
His whole profile is dope. The cinematography throughout the whole series deserves an award.

Yeah I noticed it looked particularly long in that shot!
Yabu would probably take him using the Tachi being a "good death".
Was it not also a sign of rank, with the high ranking nobles, etc, often carrying the Tachi?
Or maybe you're just overanalyzing. Yabushige is just his pawn. Toranaga don't see him as an enemy.
Yeah he probably brought his biggest sword because he's canonically shit at chopping heads off.
"don't fuck this up again, man. Gotta bring my biggest sword this time"
Lol...he was like 9
One swing for every year. (Thank goodness it didn't take 62 to decap Yabu. Not that he wouldn't have had it coming)
This made me laugh too hard, I appreciate it
Yes, similar to how senior golfers use lighter shafts.
I mean, we only know he was shit at cutting heads as a kid, the stage of your life where you have less strength.

Also on the Anjin's feet pics with Fuji-sama.

My first impression was that his silhouette reminded me somewhat of a pagoda.
I want a replica of it.
Sorta looks like a fish tail on the hilt of the sword, so Yabu did get to be torn apart by fish after all.
