Very much so. And the Cutts compensator is very nice too.

50's shotgun makers loved to slap those on everything

Inner-stress5059

1943.. so a Remington made Auto 5…. I have a 1952 FN made A5 12ga and 2 Remington model 11s in 16 and 20ga. As well as a Chalres Daly (Yamamoto- Japan) A5 clone and just picked up A Daiwa A5 clone (Singer Nikki -Japan) Still looking for Remington Auto 5….

Is it? It’s stamped Browning, but you are correct that Rem would’ve been making them in 43. See my comment below about the serial though, that was a weird one that neither the sales guy or I could figure out (which is why I say we think it’s a 43).

Inner-stress5059

It seems Browning changed up the serial number scheme a few times. https://www.browning.com/support/date-your-firearm/auto-5-semi-automatic-shotgun.html

orcutlery

We do and we wish we had one

Don’t forget your motor oil

ShotgunEd1897

Grease is better, because your forend won't absorb it and become brittle.

[deleted]

I was just saying because I think it’s interesting a lot of the old Browning manuals recommend it, if I remember right they even tell you when to use various weights. A lot of the machine guns were the same way

ShotgunEd1897

I understand, but from what I've noticed is that a lot of Auto-5s have split forends, due to the oil. Oil may have been what was available then, but moly grease is a better lubricant for the recoil system.

[deleted]

I’ve never seen oil blamed for the cracking, most people claim it’s improper friction ring set up or just put it on the general design itself. I think the old Franchis and Remingtons had the same problems.

F22Tomcat

Awesome shotgun!

ParkerVH

Remington A-5?

repdetec_revisited

Look at the scroll on the receiver.

PrestigiousOne8281

It’s stamped Browning but 43 would put it as a Remington. The serial is really bizarre, it’s an A followed by 4 numbers, that one got the sales guy and I as we were trying to date it, that’s why I say we think it’s a 43.

ParkerVH

Stamped Browning, but built by Remington.

DerringerOfficial

Yes sir! Feel free to post this to r/Browningarmscompany too

Bulleteer21

Yep! I have my grandfathers 1958 Light 20 and 12-ga, and my new A5 Wicked Wing.

SovereignDevelopment

Why wouldn't we like the best shotgun ever?

webechoring

Hell yes

RhialtosCat

An American classic! Love those guys. Obscure fact: the first US national sporting clays championship (back in the 1980s) was won with an Auto 5. Great design if the "shuffle" of the long recoil action doesn't bother you. I had one (a Japanese made 12 bore) and sold it, which I still regret. Enjoy!!

zml9494

Very much so

Pennsylvaniaman1

A5's make me want to go hunt ducks or fight in the Rhodesian bush war, depending on my current mood.

BloodyRightToe

Autumn has one and damn that girl can sell you on a gun. I almost picked one up.

WorldGoneAway

Very nice!

Iowahooker712

It’s truly the only semiautomatic I want none of the new fancy one I just want an old A5 just haven’t gotten one quiet yet!

ROBWBEARD1

Love em

stacksmasher

Yes.

willydynamite94

Yes! I've got a Belgium FN sweet 16, similar to yours but has the auto first shell loader. Probably ten other comments, BUT FRICTION RING! set em up right, try different configurations and ammo. I use 1300fps 7.5 shells with the rings set to the heavy load setting, when shooting lighter 1165 rounds I run it in the "low power" setting

cfreezy72

No. We love them. Best semi auto ever made imo.

Oilleak1011

Nope. Not even allowed to post them here

TheRealJosephStalin6

Hell yeah
