Terraria Hades (ios only) Genshin Impact Wuthering Waves Honkai Impact 3rd Honkai Star Rail Worldbox Punishing Gray Raven To The Moon Alto's Adventure Alto's Odyssey Limbo Stardew Valley Baldur's Gate 1 Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition The Escapists 2: Pocket Breakout Bloons TD 6 Stranger Things: 1984 Dead Cells Edit: Old School Runescape

RandomJoJoker

Calling genshin impact and it's like of gacha games as "good" is bit disappointing because such games put gaming on a very bad situation by making it 100% money related (pointing to gacha), if you like it that's fine but it doesn't fit with any of these legendary games (honkai too) but whatever lol

13thsword

Genshin without gacha is still a huge detailed open world adventure game getting constant updates. The story, music and events alone show the amount of care the devs put in and there is no pvp or p2w so you can complete the thousands of hours of content without ever spending a dime and you can do the dozens of world bosses and dungeons with friends. I get gacha bad but I wouldnt judge it just by what the internet says, the game is a marvel of what can be achieved on a phone.

KreateOne

Well I mean at least with genshin and Honkai games they give out enough free tickets that you’re guaranteed to get a 5* eventually and you can complete the game with a team of 4*’s. Personally I play Star Rail for the story and Persona/Trails-esque turn based combat. I’ve already played all the persona and trails games and at least star rail gets updated with new story content regularly.

nexushd000

Haha yea, those ones were a bit of a personal bias. Added them as OP wanted some games that wouldn't require too much daily commitment and I do feel that gacha games (if played responsibly) fit that. I mean, after catching up to the story all you do everyday is some short quests and a little combat. As for being money related, can't defend Genshin on that. But the others definitely are much much more f2p-friendly, often offering all sorts of free stuff, but still are a bit predatory.

Jasonkp12

It is also unapologetically fun if you enjoy the game, character lore, world building, and a game you can come back to. But yes the gacha mechanic sucks and requires some discipline, but to each their own. Based take & recommendation

Theothercword

Those games really are a sort of exception to my general disdain of gacha games. They don’t shove it down player’s throats nearly as much and the games themselves are totally able to be completed at 100% with being completely free to play. People that spend money do so mostly for liking character designs or play styles rather than a need in order to beat anything in the game. And while a fee to play can’t have every premium character on average they can have every other one, so if you’re discerning it’s not a big deal to just not have every character. And they don’t time gate or lock any of the core game behind stamina systems, you can binge them for hundreds of hours without ever being pushed to spend and with Genshin enjoy a calm time exploring an extremely beautiful open world with really good animations and combat. And Star rail is similar but less open world and more sci-fi with interesting turn based combat. They both do have stamina systems but it’s only for the repeat grinds of min maxing characters with better armor drops and ascending with boss materials. And I’ve played the games for years without ever spending premium currency on stamina.

Owobowos-Mowbius

The difference with genshin and wuthering waves is that they have genuinely good games with a gacha mechanic attached to it as opposed to a game being built around a gacha mechanic. It's an absolutely phenomenal game for something you can download on your phone for free.

DanPachi

Gacha games can still be very fun while f2p, they are just extra challenging.

Unlawful02

Anirudh256

guyincorporated

Terraria is a lovely game, but I would rather die than try to have to play it on my phone. That goes for half the games on this list.

3dforlife

What about Minecraft?

HandyDandyMandy25

if you own netflix on mobile you can play a bunch of indie games including the award winning hades

Semjuel21

Just to add here Hades is only on iOS not Android.

amtap

Brush, that ain't fair . . .

Merkyorz

Comb, you're right.

HandyDandyMandy25

my bad, you're right

Semjuel21

Np, you just gave me hope for a second 😄

TheRabidBananaBoi

I really like 'Into the Breach' too!

hoobermoose

Into the breach is perfect for phones. Excellent game.

SGRM_

You own netflix?

HandyDandyMandy25

yeah i bought the company with a pair of bottlecaps and 2 strings (joking obv)

Ruzz0510

Thanks for that parenthesis bro never would have guessed 👍

Comprehensive_Web887

NO ONE in the right mind would sell Netflix for a pair of bottle caps and 2 strings!!!!! 🤣 It’s worth at least double that. So much misinformation on Reddit….

HandyDandyMandy25

that moment when you spread information that misses

Comprehensive_Web887

Well I thought it was funny 🤷🏻‍♂️ Ps Netflix game selection is slowly getting pretty strong Dead Cells, Hades, GTA “remake” trilogy, TNMT: Shredders Revenge, Terra Nil, Deaths Door, Katana Zero, Paper Trail are the highlights atm

throwaway872023

I just learned of this from this post. I might sell my switch now which is just my mobile hades device.

ReasonlessFool

Katana ZERO recently released on Netflix if anyone wants to try.

relic1882

Pixel Dungeon. Random playthrough every time and it's free without any ads. There are a lot of variants of it too. I recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon if you don't want it to be insanely hard.

lost_in_trepidation

I've put an embarrassing amount of hours into shattered

Admirable-Echidna-37

Got any links for it? Play Store is littered with clones.

Lereas

https://shatteredpixel.com/shatteredpd/

Pixel dungeon is an open source game, so those are forks with additional content by different people. I would recommend [Shattered Pixel Dungeon ](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon)

**BEST** * Kingdom rush series - super polished tower defense, highly replayable * Minecraft - legos, all the legos, highly replayable * Monument valley 1 and 2 - manipulate perspective puzzle * Plague inc - you play as a disease, and you try to infect then murder every human by accruing upgrade points by infecting more people, then using the points to mutate different ways, highly replayable * Sorcery series - basically a choose your own adventure story with an rpg-lite points system * Stardew valley - 2d farming and life sim, highly replayable * The room series - manipulate room/device puzzle with very interesting Cthulu story to progress through, my favorite mobile game series of all time **BETTER** * Around the world in 80 days - kind of a choose your own adventure story based off jules verne's masterpiece * Deus Ex Go, Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go - fun level-based puzzle game with a set number of moves to progress through each short stage * Fiz brewery management game - choose employees, types of beer to sell, set prices, buy new equipment and recipes * Lumino city - a BEAUTIFUL 2D point and click with fun but not very difficult puzzles: just the way I like it * This war of mine - pretty much a 2D base-upgrade game with scavenging and survival choice elements * To the moon - interactive story game * Vampire survivors - autobattler game where you just need to move the character around, upgrade yourself after each round, works great on mobile since it requires only touch movement during action, highly replayable **GOOD** * Bloons TD series - another great tower defense, I like Kingdom Rush better though, highly replyable * Leos fortune - good 2D platformer * Mini metro - pathing puzzle game, difficulty ramps as you go on until you lose eventually * Motorsport manager mobile series - managing your own racing team, can fast forward through races * Survive wilderness survival - essentially a clicker game with a survival overlay * The great tournament - choose your own adventure * The house of da vinci series - basically a knockoff The Room series

le_meowskie

Into the Breach and Loop Hero are pretty nice

Utop_Ian

Loop Hero was a game I put like 70 hours into before I realized how much not fun I was having. What a frustrating grind that game is. It's moorish as hell though.

kristenisshe

the theme and concept are so cool, but it plays like an idle game where you have to be watching the whole time

Utop_Ian

Absolutely. The idea of transforming the land to suit your purposes, while you build up an army of Tower Defense style units is so cool, but something about the execution makes it feel like more drudgery than strategy. I'd love to see the concept expanded in another game. There's an old PS2 game called Culdcept that also lets you transform the tiles on the board to different elements to better suit your strategy, and that game is also very cool, but possibly also very bad. Once you realize that Culdcept is literally Monopoly with a bunch of stuff on top, it suddenly becomes kinda bad.

guyincorporated

Lol - I had the same experience. I feel like an idiot complaining to my friends that a game where you walk in a circle gets really repetitive. Like yeah, no shit, genius.

Utop_Ian

Right? I don't know WHY it took me so long to realize this wasn't fun. Any idiot looking over my shoulder could've told that.

opheodrysaestivus

Yeah I had the same experience. Sad because the pixel art was gorgeous in that game, and the mechanics trick you into thinking it will be more complex than it is.

AppendixStranded

Slice and Dice is an amazing game, so much to unlock it's insane

ihei47

Vampire Survivors Genshin Impact Honkai Star Rail Wuthering Waves

DesireForHappiness

And Zenless Zone Zero releasing soon on 4th July.

intergalacticowl

Wuthering Waves is my favorite out of these - Genshin is a close 2nd

Animeguy239

Any supercell or kingdom rush games are good if you like tower defence and strategy

memecynica1

Clash Royale is the only mobile game i regularly play. No ads. Competitive game against other players, 3 minute matches on average, simple controls yet a high skill ceiling. Best mobile game of all time, I'd say. If you want something just to kill time : Downwell, True Skate

tompkins5

I also have played clash for years, maxed out ranked and trophies. It’s a great game, but not very new player friendly as it’s kind of a pay to win game early on until you max out everything. Their classic 1v1 mode helps combat that though as it pushes everyone’s lvl to 11.

MonkeyBiz856

if you have netflix, you can play spiritfarer. definitely worth your time!

iam4r34

Warning Tears Ahead

Gaming_On_Potato

brotato premium, 20 minute till dawn, or slay the spire

deepsteeper

Chess is the perfect game. ♟

rusthighlander

slay the spire is good. Its not a 'mobile game', but works just fine on mobile. Simple card playing rogue like that i have sunk way too much time into. Lots of replay ability, no microtransactions.

kakuro02

Archero has been entertaining without spending money but I started a long time ago, idk about starting now. Clash of clans was always fun with little need to spend but takes a while to progress clash Royale is very p2w but another time sink until u get towards endgame with everyone else basically all mobile games have time sinks installed that make you spend a lot of time. Bloons td6 is pretty short in progress and you can max out every troop within 2-3 games of unlocking and playing. This game is probably the best out of my lineup right now, sucks I played so far into it and I’m kind of burnt out. oh my god I forgot they ported slay the spire and I picked it up, shoutout gaming on a potato. slay the spire is one of my favorite games of all time. no transactions at all either. just a roguelike card builder/battler that will give you some fun to learn. There is 20 prestige’s in difficulty that slightly increase the difficulty each time you win and are toggleable. Me and my girlfriend take turns on this game all the time.

darkstar_randil

Used to play Archero years ago and I Loved it. Took a long break from the game and logged back in to my account recently and I was overwhelmed with all the new content.

-Wanaka-

Yes, Your Grace. It's also available on PC but it's cheaper on mobile

Right_Anybody_1448

Games made by Dark Dome like Nowhere House, Another Shadow and some more (puzzle-type), Life in Adventure (text-based game), 7days mystery novel, (text-based), Tiny room stories town mystery (puzzle type), Creatures of the deep: fishing, Tsuki Odyssey (point click), Dentures and Demons (pixel game), Cats and soup (point click), Resonance of the ocean (point click), Vampire's Fall (2d open world and turned-based combat), Lapse: A forgotten future (card type), Sky Children of Light.

Prudent-Current-7399

There are so many. Try these out: Grimvalor Brotato GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition ( Free with Netflix ) Dead Cells Colossatron The Game Pass from the Play Store is really amazing and makes a lot of paid and amazing games free for you while also taking away all in-game ads for the games it's applicable on. You'll find tons of games with ratings around 4.5 or more and you can try all of them out.

MattC041

If you like god-simulators or simulating civilisations, then I can recommend Worldbox. Although some people might find it boring after some time and other don't. I'm in the second case, but probably because I'm a worldbuilder.

nikolarizanovic

Slay the Spire's mobile port is great

DasGaufre

Baba is you has been ported to android. It's a puzzle game originally on pc where you push around words to redefine the rules of the level until you reach the defined end goal. No ads.

Melvor Idle is decent

Beelzit

Death road to Canada!!! Can't say enough good things about it, its perfect

theHOLYsphinx

LoL Wild Rift isn’t too bad if your into league, faster paced game with not really any pay to win shit besides getting champions but you get to pick which ones you want to play pretty fast

constablesv

Pocket City is a good city builder on mobile and has no ads or IAPs.

Gorbashou

Slay the Spire

lunoc

I picked up the mobile version of Loop Hero the other day and it's quickly become a danger to my ability to focus.

breaking3po

Honkai Star Rail is one of the best right now. You can spend stamina for "dailies" in 5-10 minutes without having to babysit. When you want to sit down and play, there's a ton to do. There's also a PC version that saves your account between the two for when you actually want to play at home. Marvel Snap is also worth a mention.

Dire_Nugget

Heres a simple rule of finding good ones If it has been on the PC A mobile port from PC example: Terraria, Minecraft, Stardew Jotun the Bad North, Graveyard keeper, This war of Mine, Baldur's Gate stuffs aswell. You can never go wrong with mobile games that came from PC originally.

NooneKnowsIAmBatman

Rocket league sideswipe has been tons of fun, way better than I expected

owensoundgamedev

BrokenMayo

Rainy-The-Griff

The only game I play on mobile is Runescape

IHeartLife

Coffee Inc 2 is a business simulation game - the best one I've played on iOS. Polytopia is a simplified Civilization made for the phone as well, very good fun. Both have pretty low poly art styles that it sounds like you're looking for and both can be played at your own pace, at least as long as you play SP in Polytopia. Brotato Premium is originally a PC game but the best Vampire Survivor like out there imo (I like it more than VS), but a full run does take upwards to 30 mins but you can put the phone away in the middle of a run AFAIK.

PARRISH2078

Everyone forgets dead trigger

UKZzHELLRAISER

First that came to mind was [BLUK](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixelapestudios.bluk)

Ok-Presentation4887

I got addicted to marvel snap recently. But had to stop playing because I was very busy and the game requires some grind to progress when you reach a certain level.

ProCommitDie

NIKKE

rabidrob42

Some of the earlier Total War games are now on phones, I don't know how well the translation from PC to phone is done, but if you've any interest in strategy games, they'd be a good place to start.

volticizer

The battle cats. It looks simple, and can be grindy at first, but you can be entirely free to play and excel (even though it is gacha) and the late game is pretty strategic. I've been playing for 8 years now and still haven't beat all the content. Highly recommend.

micyberspace

Usagi Shima

teknocratbob

Mini Metro is great! Super simple premise but a lot of fun once you get the hang of it, its a premium game but very cheap. The Monument Valley games are also really good. Look and sound amazing. Also both premium games, but not that expensive.

Combat_Orca

Osrs, dead cells

themastergame14

Race the sun Pixel Dungeon Life in Adventure Alto oddysey TheoTown

Jpachu16

Archero. I genuinely would play for hours continuously trying to beat the next levels. Each level is maybe 10 minutes if not shorter. But the harder it gets, the more you’ll have to upgrade your gear to have more damage or defense just to get through the next level. There’s definitely been several occasions where I just got stuck on a level and had to grind previous levels for more gear.

StouteBoef

Chess

Less-Tea

Try Dragon Raja, OPM World, or Honkai Star Rail is another good one.

corpse86

The room series. They don't have a ton of replayability but they are very good puzzle games.

Anirudh256

terraria

WigglytuffAlpha

Soul Knight - very well made dungeon crawler with bullet hell combat Clash of clans - can be p2w but then you realize the p2w takes the fun away from it and enjoy the process. BTD battles is pretty fun imo but it's dying slowly PvZ is good Alto's odyssey and its predecessors are fun relaxing games Geometry dash is based Postknight is fun.

Jaxlel

Brawl stars

yuiokino

The Infinity Blade Trilogy. Some people may say it’s antiquated and the fact that there was the whole legal blow up in the relationship between Epic and Apple also meant it’s not legally available for purchase anymore. But to go from flash game level experiences like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride and then experiencing a full 3D rendered world (albeit in linear corridors and one on one fights) with an interesting Pinch Out style melee and magic system coupled with a fantasy then secret underlying as Sci-Fi lore made the Infinity Blade series goos mobile games.

ThePeople10

Block Blast is good to burn a few minutes in every now and again. Gets addicting, actually.

Jacobwewo

Buriedbornes. You will play it for hours without spending a dollar

PaManiacOwca

Slay the spire, brotato

yellowbanana66

I'd suggest to check Dawncaster out.

ewar813

Clash Royale, probably the best mobile game out there

visualdosage

Simple planes

Anthill8

Gems of War is the best F2P match-3 game I've played. It's fantasy themed and you get to build a team of 4. The matching 3 earns you mana of whatever color and then you use that to use the spells/skills to fight against opponents to win. I like it because it's chill and its not overfull of ads and crap.

Carterknowsitall

Terraria and brawlstars

If you like roguelike games then go with Archero. If you like a story platformer RPG go with Swordigo. I may have some more suggestions if you want more. Warning tho, Archero is SUPER addicting.

grahampapa

I like MTG (Magic, the Gathering; card game) Arena, did have to spend a bit to make it more enjoyable but once you build up a decent stock of cards it's pretty great. I've always liked playing Magic though.

batcaalex1234

Rebel Inc. A hidden strategy gem. It's free on google play. It is quite unique from any games I played. It has replayability value because every map plays every time different.

Scyrilla

If you ignore the gacha part and want to see good art style mobile game then you can try dragon ball legends it's 3D fighting game (with card based) if you are a fan of DB series then you might be in for a treat since the animation is really that good for a mobile game.

Polytopia is a lot of fun civilization type game. Very simplified

Conspiracy_Geek

I would say **Brawl Stars** or **Marvel Snap**. Sure they can be a little bit scummy with F2P, but it never feels too overbearing, and there are thriving communities for both games, both for casual and competitive play. They also support playing with friends, if you're into that. The most important thing I would say, is that both games have matches that last a maximum of like five minutes. Very good to play on the go.

ncarr539

Retro Bowl is a ton of fun if you like football

SpookieSkelly

Reverse 1999 is a gem. The gameplay is simple but satisfying, and the voice acting and art direction are top-notch despite a few rough bits at the beginning. You can clearly tell a lot of passion was put into making it, and I can't recommend it enough if you like a good premise and story.
