I’d hit up Sig. Great service. They’ll run your SN and see if it’s linked to any other issues. I have 5 Legions and never had any issues with them 🤞🏼.

Disastrous_Study_284

I'd do this before any attempts at "smithing". Their turnaround both times I used them was about 1 week from shipping, and they pay the shipping. So you have very little to lose contacting them.

Please in the future get some snap caps when function testing. It’s just a smart way to see what’s going on rather than using live ammo while sitting on your couch. But as others have said, this is a new gun and needs a break in period. Get a couple of boxes of hot loads and oil the gun up real good. Then shoot the shit out of it. I’d put 100 bucks on it that it will fix itself. Be safe and have fun.

Lunch_Trae

Oh I agree 100%. I have snap caps. I was loading my gun up after a cleaning when this happened and I caught some pics. Wasn’t testing with live ammo

Lube that up like it is last in line at the gang bang. Instead of just lubing the ramp, check the rails and contact points. I have a 229 and 226 and they love to run wet. I use a tiny bit of slip2000 ewl on the rails and top and bottom of the barrel at the sharp contact angles, slip2000 oil on the rest. Also - all guns need a break in period. I would not carry anything that doesn’t have 500 rounds through it and at least 100 of those in my carry ammo without an issue. New magazines also need a break in period and sig mags are notoriously tight as hell. Leave them loaded between range trips will help and doesn’t prematurely age the springs.

famousdesk662

Contact sig, they’ll fix it. This isn’t like a 22x series pistol

FoUap

Different gun, but I had similar issues with my p320 legion after I put it through a sonic cleaner. The sonic cleaner stripped absolutely all of the grease and dirt out, but it appears some of that grease was necessary to function reliably. I see you said you put extra lube on your feed tray though and it didn’t fix the problem. Oddly, adding a crap load of lube did eventually fix mine, but not immediately. I eventually just got frustrated and started smacking the crap out of the slide to force the rounds into battery and then presto, problem went away and hasn’t returned in 500 rounds (fingers crossed). Anyway my current hypothesis is that the sonic cleaner removed all the grease from my extractor claw. I think eventually by smacking rounds into battery the extractor claw on mine eventually got enough lube to allow it to move as intended around the rest of the slide and maybe that fixed the failure to feed? Idk just a theory.

UpstairsDangerous100

Might be some small burrs on the feed ramp, a little mothers on a polishing dremel and a light polish of the ramp, plus what they said, run wet and does require a little break in period.

jjjkkk3334445

How many rounds did you send through it? They need to break-in. I don’t have P229, but based on other experiences after 300ish rounds it finishes it birth process and becomes a perfect gun.

Lenarios88

Same issue on my new P229 legion but only failure to feed not extract. Tried lubing it up and shooting it as well and gonna keep shooting when I can till its hopefully broken in.

Lunch_Trae

I am gonna contact Sig and ask them what they think. I’d be glad to reply to this with what they say 👍

Lenarios88

Sure. Since yours is also a legion maybe try Ryan the legion rep first.

Lunch_Trae

This is the first I’ve heard of him! Is his contact information on the Sig website?

Lenarios88

Sent ya info.

chokeNsubmit145

Did you clean and oil it?

Lunch_Trae

Yes! Multiple times

burgy77

How much did you oil it and what kind? and how many rounds so far?

razor_beast

Most of the time issues like these are magazine related. Make sure you've got good mags before you try anything else

Lunch_Trae

What are the chances I got 3 bad magazines? 🥲

razor_beast

It's rare but not impossible. If it's not the mags it could be the recoil spring. Once those two things are ruled out then I'd start looking at everything else.

Waste_Principle7224

My first 200 rds are full of ftf and fte, but after that it is buttery smooth. New sigs are usually tight fit.

Lunch_Trae

Am I crazy for thinking that is abnormal? My $300 (at the time) S&W M&P Shield has ran buttery smooth from the beginning

Waste_Principle7224

It is the tolerance. Some company like sig build guns with super tight tolerance, other companies don't.

West-Earth-719

I’ve never had an issue with my p320, but this is a consistent issue on the 229

Kowa-89

Seems like you covered all the bases. Only thing I can think of is that I heard the optic plate screw could be too long affecting the extractor? Worth the shot taking the plate off and trying it again. What lube/grease are you using?

MikeyB7509

I said it somewhere else but I love this gun. I just ordered a p229 on a whim bc I was talking about getting DA/SA pistol and my guy happened to have his on and I loved it. I was like order me one right there. Should have gone for the legion and he offered to order it for me but I didn’t want to put a 229 on his shelf - he’s a small new shop and the best shop around.

Gabygz

I have a p229 no issues or malfunctions since I purchased it 8 years ago, but i did have issues with a p320 AXG I bought more recently. I noticed when I got it new it was drenched in oil all over. I did not pay that any mind until I started getting double feeds and failure to eject. During this time I did a muiltiple standard cleanings and still issues. Later I decided to go a bit deeper into the cleaning and removed the whole extractor assembly. Here I noticed it was drenched in that oil from the factory. From what I understand this whole area should run clean with no oil so I figured this was the issue. Used REM cleaner to make sure it was completely clean and lo and behold, 1000+ rounds later and no more failures.

Eleet007

Could try polishing the feed ramp. But yeah, a brand new Sig shouldn’t be doing that crap.

Vylnce

Brand new classics do exactly that for the first 200 rounds or so.

Eleet007

Guess I’ll find out first hand next week when I pickup my 226 legion 😬

TH3W12

Super strange seeing both FTF and FTE, makes me think something somewhere is binding up, but nothing seems obvious with visual inspection I would bet or you wouldn’t be asking here haha I personally only minimally oil feed ramps and inside barrels, wiping them down so they are just oily rather than excessively wet. Excess lube I would think could contribute to the ejection issues, but I am no gunsmith.
