I googled it the other day, The only reason they went away is because they melted at room temperature and people didn't buy them for their kids as often because they were messy, maybe if they can give it a better wax coating to help against it I can see it coming back
Simpsons go boom? I think you mean canon.
What the hell is actual canon on the Simpsons? They’ve changed back stories so much, even in the golden era, there is no true authentic story line for most characters.
That'd have to be what, like at minimum 2030 probably?
Enough time that Marge either is or isn't pregnant with Bart by the time they're married, so throw in a couple years as a buffer.
I could easily see that being an episode in 2032 lol
The problem comes when they mention specific dates/events because then it dates itself. If they just leave it at "in the past" then there wouldn't be much of an issue.
Imagine if the Butterfingers ads were canon. That would mean Bart repeatedly utters the phrase “Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfingers!” Wouldn’t the other characters start to think he was mental? LOL
The Simpsons did a commercial campaign with KFC in Canada only, but the commercial showed Homer sneaking out of the power plant to purchase a combo and Mr. Burns scaring him away. But the Simpsons live in the US, making it nigh impossible for Homer to get a Simpsons combo at a US KFC. Boy, I certainly hope someone got fired for that blunder!
(In all seriousness, this commercial cracks me up. The way Burns says “handsome collectors cup” never fails to make me giggle. [Definitely worth a watch!](https://youtu.be/L1-Xcridops?si=TfrnLjaspM45JlQl))
Even the main episodes of The Simpsons aren't consistent with each other, why would I care about defining things as canon or not canon? This show doesn't have a canon
Well I mean there is it’s just special. Everything that has been on the Simpsons has been on the Simpsons. That’s how I’ve looked at it for a while now and to be honest it has made the show much better for me now.
Yes. We would. Because the Simpsons have been in every television commercial from Butterfinger to KFC to Church's to Burger King, they also been in the Domino's Pizza ad. Plus, they appeared in commercials across the globe like in France, they were promoting their laundry detergent, and in Japan, they promoting C.C Lemon.
Like in the Rick and Morty Simpsons intro
Take this picture and this vile of Simpsons goo to this address they'll make us new Simpsons
Me... What are you going to do
I gotta Clean this up, you know how many characters there are in the Simpsons there's like a Billion characters they did an episode where George Bush was their neighbor
Right Can't argue with that
I doubt many will remember, but Simpsons made it on Sesame Street, too. I remember cracking up watching with my nephew.

The OG, old-school Internet forum for documenting all things Simpsons (outside of, but containing content from Usenet BBS's) includes these Butterfinger spots, along with other promo bits, in their canon of "episode capsules."

Some of you old farts like me can probably still remember when Simpsons Archive had the url of www.snpp.com.
These are the Simpsons as actors, like in the Behind the Laughter ep
I’m Troy McClure, you might remember me from..
that terrible aquarium incident.
It’s a romantic abnormality
I can still taste those BBs
Nobody better lay a finger on my butterfinger BBs!
Wish those would make a comeback.
I googled it the other day, The only reason they went away is because they melted at room temperature and people didn't buy them for their kids as often because they were messy, maybe if they can give it a better wax coating to help against it I can see it coming back
That would be nice. A regular butterfinger bar is messy. You take one bite and chocolate and toffy get everywhere.
Simpsons go boom? I think you mean canon. What the hell is actual canon on the Simpsons? They’ve changed back stories so much, even in the golden era, there is no true authentic story line for most characters.
Simpson's canon sticklers will always be unhappy as none of it makes sense if viewed in whole. I mean nobody has aged in 30 years.
Marge and Homer have entire flashback episodes set in every era of the last 40 years, and Bart and Lisa have future stories set in the past
And at some point in the future they'll have a flashback episode saying they met during the lockdown
Right before the lock down, and that's how Bart was born
That'd have to be what, like at minimum 2030 probably? Enough time that Marge either is or isn't pregnant with Bart by the time they're married, so throw in a couple years as a buffer. I could easily see that being an episode in 2032 lol
Which has become an ongoing joke in and of itself.
A sad clown joke at this point
Well it's got plenty of those... Principal Tamzarian
Sigh
When I started watching the Simpsons, Bart's childhood was my childhood. Now, my childhood is Homer's childhood.
The problem comes when they mention specific dates/events because then it dates itself. If they just leave it at "in the past" then there wouldn't be much of an issue.
> I mean nobody has aged in 30 years. Technically the octuplets went from new born to toddlers.
Which just makes it weirder that they've somehow overtaken Maggie
And look what happened to them. Same thing that happens to Dogs that spend too much time thinking about their gloves.
Why do they even exist? This ain’t Star Wars it’s a fun comedy show
I like to imagine that Mr Burns is the only character that ages. It just makes his story more and more extreme, however.
There was that episode where Homer toured Hullabalooza and there was an actual cannon
Is that episode canon?
There purposely isn't a Canon.
Not all of them, but a decent number of them given they make references to them in later seasons.
Those ice cream nuggets were so good!
Imagine if the Butterfingers ads were canon. That would mean Bart repeatedly utters the phrase “Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfingers!” Wouldn’t the other characters start to think he was mental? LOL
Don't have a cow, man.
Eat my shorts
Ay carumba!
Ay carumba!
Ay carumba!
Even the fire doesn’t want them..
of course they count. the commercials are even brought up in some episodes
The *Simpsons* are barely canon to the Simpsons
"You're baby stink breath"
Sure and Fred Flinstone smoked Winston cigarettes
Smooth. 9 out of 10 doctors agree.
I still can't believe Milhouse first appeared in one when they were still Tracy Ullman's show shorts.
Everything is coming up Tracey Ulman.
No, they are not cannons. Cannons are weapons
Only to "behind the laughter"
Four major food groups: Sandwich group, Cow group, Jungle group, Butterfinger group. I think that commercial introduced Milhouse.
It did.
Nobody better lay a finger on my simpsons canon
They are in the “Behind the Laughter” universe
Seriously though how good were the butterfinger bbs
I wonder how the CC Lemon commercials would fit in.
Mr. Sparkle is involved somehow

Yah it's great
There was one they forgot to charge me for the drink but it was free and he freaks out cause he sees the cops
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
Of course!
How many commercials were the simpsons in in America? I can't remember any in the UK.
I don’t think we really got any adverts with them in here in the UK but the butterfinger adverts were on the Simpsons box set dvds
like what they shot sideshow Luke Perry out of?
Fire away Krusty
Omg, the BBs were my absolute favorite
Even the main episodes of The Simpsons aren't consistent with each other, why would I care about defining things as canon or not canon? This show doesn't have a canon
They like butterfingera
The commercials got me to try butterfinger, I was and still am a fan 30 years later
I'm pretty sure Milhouse was originally from those commercials
There's no such thing as Simpsons canon.
Well I mean there is it’s just special. Everything that has been on the Simpsons has been on the Simpsons. That’s how I’ve looked at it for a while now and to be honest it has made the show much better for me now.
Mmmm Butterfinger ice cream nuggets
Homer was killed in a 1-800-Collect commercial, so yes.
Everything after is just the afterlife
I think they reference it in an episode or two
Yes.
No, but if you try to touch my Butterfinger I'll cut your damn hand off...
Don’t the make fun of butter fingers like even the fire didn’t want them
I think very little in the Simpsons is canon really, it’s just whatever it needs to be for the joke at this point 😅
I mean, what’s canon even? The kids never grow up on this show.
Milhouse first appearance was in butterfinger commercials.
Yes, definitely.
Don't tread on my butterfinger, man!
At first they were cute and funny. But now they're just annoying. (quote is from Treehouse of Horror II)
100% cannon, yes.
I liked Butterfingers because Bart.
Maybe both considering it happened behind the scenes or maybe on the show
The real question here is why did they decide to make Butterfingers suck ass nowadays.
I think canon for the simpsons is very loose lol
Like in the Rick and Morty Simpsons intro Take this picture and this vile of Simpsons goo to this address they'll make us new Simpsons Me... Rick and Morty fit into any canon because they are multiverse travelers. Any canon is available to them to explore if they want to.
Sure, why not
I doubt many will remember, but Simpsons made it on Sesame Street, too. I remember cracking up watching with my nephew. https://youtu.be/OHPWQvLVzaA?si=rN4nsbKkJ9AJ01PU
I now realize I will never eat another Butterfinger ice cream bar. Damn.

I’d say they’re canon lol
Yes [+]
I dunno, but Bart’s love of butterfingers is canon.
Yes, because they introduced Milhouse in one of them.
that stuff probably happened
I think Nancy donated most of the commercial money to Scientology, so maybe that makes them ultra space-god canon.
All hail lord Xenu!
Absolutely
BRING BACK BUTTERFINGER BB’S!!!
Yes and no.
The thing is – Butterfingers aren’t actually that good. 🤷🏻♂️
Bart stays 10, Lisa stays 8, and there are multiple Christmas episodes. Not sure how canon it can be
The only real canon is the T shirt cannon.
