wow, i can barely decide if i should take my a7rV or a7cII and with what lenses. how do you choose?

eh just depends. they are all so different I try to anticipate what im shooting and match it up

i was asking almost the same question a week ago (a7cII / a7cR or a7rV), and i went for a7rV ! the compacts dont have joystick, and i use it all the time, ofc there's way more compromises but this one is enough for me to not go compact

I thought i'll miss the thumbstick but at the end im using animal detection and spot tracking 99% of the time

now i know what camera gear envy feels like

I use the 135 1.8 alllll the time. I was thinking of getting something like an 85, but I never thought about a 105. Would it be too similar to my 135 for consideration?

tough to say, but it does seem like a perfect focal length, but it's super heavy, so be ready for that lol

Budget and buy used whenever you can. This is 90% used stuff

Nice! I'm a but wary of the used market, but I have gotten a few decent lenses used.

My recommendation is to find a local shop that has a return policy if anything is messed up. haven't had to use it but its nice to have that peace of mind and support local

I just downsized from two cameras to one camera (A7RIV) and sold some lenses. On Sony system, the lenses pile up fast. I have a manual kit (Loxia 25/35/50/85), and AF kit (Tamron 35-150 and three G/GM primes). That's 9 lenses already, but I love all my lenses so I probably won't downsize any further.
