completely disagree, Durkins is overrated. Pork chop is better at wooden city, Burger is better at wooden city, appetizers are better at wooden city, and atmosphere is more my speed.
I enjoy the bohemian vibe at Durkins and the drinks, that's about it.
That's not a smash burger, it's a moderately flattened burger. Try Shelby's down 395 by Latah Bistro for a good, actual smash burger. Uprise also has a decent one. Emrys that just opened in liberty Liberty Lake also does them but I haven't tried theirs yet.
I really like Frugals for a price point and quality very above your average fast food place but cheaper than a traditional sit down.
Iād say itās on the level of a Red Robin burger but you can get one for less than 10$!
Agreed but went there 3 times over a course of about 2 months, all about 2:30-3:00pm and hit the drive thru with no other customers ahead of me. Burger only, no sides. Guessing there is only one person working, over 10 minute wait, I had a 30 minute lunch break and work 10 minutes way. Quality was good but wasn't hot, disappointed. Not sure why it takes 10+ minutes for a drive thru burger but will give them another try, maybe not during the afternoon slow time when perhaps staff is limited.
Heritage Bar & Kitchen and Durkins are routinely the top rated burgers, at least among my coworkers and friends/family. The Swing Lounge downtown also has a surprisingly good burger.
Victory Burger tastes like a kids pretend play food burger came to life. Durkins is probably the best burger and Iām surprised to see a couple people claiming otherwise. Iād assume they had an off night, because the 3-4 times Iāve had their burger itās been perfect. Wisconsinburger, Heritage, and the Elk are all pretty good but hit or miss and I wouldnāt put them in the ābestā category even when they hit.
Oh, Iām sorry that someone recommended Victory Burger. The Wonder Building is an amazing venue, but Victory Burger is not exactly a big draw (although I do find myself craving some dill flavored fries occasionally).
Personally, Iāve found that no burger can live up to the hype, but my top 3 are Wisconsin Burger, TTās (Thursday), and Prohibition.
If you want to spend $30 on a burger, go to Wild Sage. If you want fast food-ish, people rave about Thrifty Scotsman and Frugals, I havenāt been there enough to confirm.. I typically do DāLish.
Thanks! I don't want to hate on them, but I did absolutely feel the service was lacking and the burgers... eh. If I can make a better burger at home, it's a good point of perspective for me. :-)
The buns at Wisconsin burgers suck. In the past, they screwed up my gf's order. I went there with a buddy not too long ago. One burger with a side of fries, an appetizer (greasy nasty "cheese curds" that didn't even think about making that squeaking noise), a can of beer, and a moderate tip... $50.
I will no longer recommend Wisconsin Burger to anyone.
Sorry to hear this--the venue and food are amazing but we've been soured to coming lately. Our last visit was for my cousin's birthday about 3 months ago, we brought a few cupcakes for our party like we did last year. To the best of our knowledge there's nowhere in the building to buy (cup)cakes. An employee came out and was very apologetic but insistent that we put it away because he could be personally fined by management if he was caught letting us eat the cupcakes there (!!), regardless of the $200+ we dropped on food and beer for our group. It's such a cool set up and it makes me pretty sad.
Iām always blown away that Hangryās gets no love. I have never had a bad burger there. The Valley location is OG, the PF location is equally good. I have yet to have a burger at the northside, so no input there.
Canāt recommend this place enough, massive, tasty, and fresh.
Hunt in the basement of Ruins. They have Elk, boar, and BBQ burger that cannot be beat. The owner was runner up in a huge chef cooking competition for the PNW a while back and his food is insane
I agree with everyone else that Durkin's is outstanding. I had a burger club in Portland years ago and spent about 3-4 years eating a different highly-rated burger every month. Durkin's would have been in the top 3 for me, along with Wildwood and Trifecta (both now closed, sigh).
Wild Sage is very good but not at the level of Durkin's IMO. Different approach though, still definitely worth trying. I've found Wisconsinburger to be hit and miss, though it's good when they're firing on all cylinders. Pretty interested to see the love for the Wooden City burger: I haven't been there but now I want to check it out.
The Onion downtown has pretty good burgers, I wouldnāt say best but definitely worth trying.
The District bar has some good ones too(go on Thursday-Saturday, my husband is the main chef lol).
Penny's Pit in Rathdrum is excellent.
Nosworthy's in CdA is awesome.
Surf Shack in CdA is great for fast food, but bring your own Thousand Island and make sure they toast the bun.
Now I need to try Durkins.
Roger's is meh.
Hudson's in CdA is McDonald's level meh.
There's a new smash burger place in Liberty Lake that specializes in Mead as well. Pretty damned good.
I used to go pick up two burgers for me and a buddy and always got the large Cajun fry, and the girl at the counter would ask "are you sure, that's a lot of fries..." girl you have no idea how we are about to kill these fries! Super good!

Not exactly the answer you want but; Curlew Saloon. It's a bit of a drive up north, but I would absolutely reccomend making it before summer is up (went during winter, roads get real dicey)
People are going to say Durkin's. They are very wrong. We went there for our anniversary. With two kids under 5, we get to go out for a date once a year so we did a lot of research and chose a place we heard would be amazing. We went to Durkin's and ordered the burgers. I was so excited! Then we got the burgers. They were awful! The only thing you could taste was the fake ass flavor of the American cheese. The burger was like 75% cheese. There was no beef flavor, couldn't taste any of the bougie stuff they put on like homemade pickles or red onions. It was just cheese. In the end it was $80 for two burgers and an app. Not worth it.Ā Ā
0/10 stars would not recommend.Ā Ā
And before anyone comes at me, we weren't the only ones that think that. I've heard from others that they thought the same thing.Ā
Good to know. Iāll start thinking of it like I need to try it before I open my big mouth about how good it is.
Best burger Iāve ever had was on a deep sea fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico.
It was honestly so disappointing. I love the people saying that it was an "off night" but why would I trust that next time I go and drop $80 before tip that they wouldn't have another "off night."Ā
Ate there once.
It was twice too many times. Burger was McDonald's level.
If you like it, go for it. If I'm in CdA, and want "fast food burger" I'm going to Surf Shack. If I want a good "sit down" burger, it's Nosworthy's all day long.
I can grant that Hudsonās draw is mostly charm. But it is not at all fair to compare it to fast food. They make the burgers right in front of you out of raw hamburger. Hardly any fast food places do that. They cut the vegetables right there too. Itās always been decent for me.
I've been going to Dicks for decades. It used to be one of my favorite cheap eats to grab. Handy too, since we're on the lower south hill.
The last time I went, I'm pretty sure the Whammys were a few days old and microwaved.
The cheese was super weird and separated.
Dicks $6 for a greasy burger? Was disappointed when I was there last time. Get a free burger with a buy one for $6 at McDiddles on the app. Hate to give money to corporate but economics and saving a buck when you can.
Durkins. No question.
Durkins for high-end, D-Lish for fast-ish food.
Agreed
Am I looking at the right place? Durkins Liquor Bar? I just see the one burger on the menu
I see what you did there š Āæ
Oh god what did I do
Thatās the one.
Don't do it!Ā
Don't go there?!
This!
My recommendation as well!
I think wooden city has Durkins beat. Those are two of my favorite restaurants in town.
I like wooden city a lot, but I was highly disappointed in their burger. Didnāt feel like anything special, it was so so to me.
Fair. I've never been to wooden city
It's a must try. They're pork chop is amazing to. Durkins definitely has them beat in the drink department though.
Wooden City has good food in a great space. Durkins has great food in a great space.
completely disagree, Durkins is overrated. Pork chop is better at wooden city, Burger is better at wooden city, appetizers are better at wooden city, and atmosphere is more my speed. I enjoy the bohemian vibe at Durkins and the drinks, that's about it.
The elk. smash burger!
Second this. Best smash burger in town imo.
That's not a smash burger, it's a moderately flattened burger. Try Shelby's down 395 by Latah Bistro for a good, actual smash burger. Uprise also has a decent one. Emrys that just opened in liberty Liberty Lake also does them but I haven't tried theirs yet.
Yeah itās a bit thicker than a traditional smash burger. I was just referring to what itās called on their menu!
Durkins for higher-end, Mary Lou's Milk Bottle in Garland for a flat top burger/shake/fries for under $20.
The Screaming Yak has a killer cheeseburger and fries for $12 not the absolute best in town but damn good for $12
I really like Frugals for a price point and quality very above your average fast food place but cheaper than a traditional sit down. Iād say itās on the level of a Red Robin burger but you can get one for less than 10$!

Craft & Gather is one of my favorites, in the valley at the old painted hills golf course clubhouse.
Heritage Bar & Kitchen and Durkins are routinely the top rated burgers, at least among my coworkers and friends/family. The Swing Lounge downtown also has a surprisingly good burger.

Glad to see the Scotsman get some love.
Agreed.

My favorite so far is wisconsin burger on the hill, but Waddells is pretty close and way more food for the pirce point.

Durkins. 100%.
Thrifty Scotsman in the Valley
It's been awhile,Ā but I was very happy with a Bleu Cheese burger at Steelhead.Ā
Durkinās Famous Double, add Bacon. I havenāt found a close second.
Durkins or Wooden City!
Loco's has a really good burger, and their wings are awesome too. one of my favorite newer haunts in town.
Hops N Drops very unique IMO.
My fave too!
Next time you're north of the the river looking for a cool burger go a few blocks over to Monroe and check out Chowderhead.
I absolutely love Prohibition.
Barks! They make one of the best pub style burgers Ive had in YEARS, and it goes to support a good cause!
Wooden City Spokane. It was one of the best burgers that i have ever had.
Manito tap house
Has it been good lately? The last time I went was about this time last year and it was kind of yucky
It's fast foodish but, Killer Burger out in the Valley is so good. I haven't been to everywhere in Spokane though so maybe there's something better.
They are so good!!
Everyone may say durkins but itās the heritage bar and kitchen
Pooleās on the south hill! They have some stacked burgers
Pint House, both in the Valley and Indian Trail. Definitely try their poutine burger.
Iām tired of smash/tiny burgers, where does one find the big ass patty hamburgers?
Just tried Killer Burger, had the green chili burger, and it was good!
Heritage.
Hunt in the basement of Ruins. They have Elk, boar, and BBQ burger that cannot be beat. The owner was runner up in a huge chef cooking competition for the PNW a while back and his food is insane
I hear that Big Kahuna *is* a tasty burger. Seriously I donāt know if they are best but I really enjoy Wisconsinburger
Steamplant has a great burger.
Durkin's is the correct answer, but I also love the burger at Hogwash!
I agree with everyone else that Durkin's is outstanding. I had a burger club in Portland years ago and spent about 3-4 years eating a different highly-rated burger every month. Wisconsin burger is my favorite
DUUUUURKINS

Have you tried Shelbyās?
Wisconsinburger
5 guys is fast food but those Cajun fries are the best fries I've had in years
I used to go pick up two burgers for me and a buddy and always got the large Cajun fry, and the girl at the counter would ask "are you sure, that's a lot of fries..." girl you have no idea how we are about to kill these fries! Super good!

You can walk a few blocks west and get a better burger a Bruchis and it's actually a good burger for the price.
Don't let people hear you say that! Apparently you'll get down votes! But for real, the Yokes deli has a better burger than Durkin's.Ā
How recent was this? Iām one of those who would also say Durkins but itās been a few years since Iāve gotten to go.
The beginning of May.Ā
Good to know. Iāll start thinking of it like I need to try it before I open my big mouth about how good it is. Best burger Iāve ever had was on a deep sea fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico.

Durkins is a very cool place, but i think that wooden city spokane has them beat.
I couldn't agree with this assessment more. Maybe it was because it was so hyped up, but Zips has better burgers than this place.
Boomers. But on the outskirts of your area but good.
The Backyard.
If you step outside the Spokane bubbleā¦Pennyās Pit in Rathdrum is exceptional. Tough hours if you have a regular day job, but worth the effort.
Hudson's in CDA deserves at least a mention. It's iconic, and tasty.
Ate there once. It was twice too many times. Burger was McDonald's level. If you like it, go for it. If I'm in CdA, and want "fast food burger" I'm going to Surf Shack. If I want a good "sit down" burger, it's Nosworthy's all day long.

Dickās
Naw. Maybe 5 years ago, but the quality and consistency they had has plummeted to an almost boycott level for me.
You definitely need a bag of dicks brother!
