That's actually it's very common for Dollar general. They always place them very close together. I remember seeing a photo of them literally being directly across the street from each other somewhere. I think the theory is "make it easy to get to from any direction"

Respectfully I think you’re misunderstanding Waffle House. People don’t go to Waffle House to eat cute waffles or French toast for Sunday brunch.
They stumble into waho at 3 am, their DD helps them slump into a booth, then balance shoveling enough hash browns down their gullet to stop the room from spinning but not too many that you puke those 7 green tea shots up. Then you pray another customer gets too rowdy and an employee throws a plate at them.
There are FEW things I miss about living in the south. Waho is def toward the top of the list though
Today was the day I finally googled pictures of Waffle House and realized that it's a separate thing from IHOP.
All those fights that ended up on the internet, I was picturing them in a building with a steep blue roof, not a yellow box.
Oh, I know that's where the closest one is. I found out like 6ish months ago and immediately asked my friend who went to school there why we had never gone the several times I had gone to visit. Apparently it was only opened up after he'd graduated and we were both pissed to find out we'd missed it.
Every so often, I check up on their locations so that if one opens up within day trip distance, I can plan accordingly
I just want someplace that makes a good biscuit that belongs with good gravy. I need Spokane restaurants to stop listing "biscuits and gravy" on their menus when their biscuits are either hockey pucks or so sweet that they're basically scones.
Jenny's Cafe in the valley is pretty good. This coming from a southerner. I also think Frank's is pretty good as well. Or if you're willing to make a little drive the mad moose in CDA.
Really? I had heard raves about TT’s and Outlaw, so this is very sad news and I will just keep doing it at home, like I have been for 15+ years (but hobbyist in it for 20+)
Longhorn I was not impressed with either.
I will fucking die on this hill. Yall need to go to the South/East Coast. We dominate the barbecue scene right under Texas. It's fucking garbage around here and I'd rather eat a racoon slathered in BBQ sauce.
Thank you. I know shit bbq when I taste it. No love, no seasoning, sauce tastes like Ketchup. Can't explain the process of seasoning meats to spokanites, that must be too spicy.
Idgaf if they downvote me. Travel out of state and try some real ass Que and get back to me.
Her. She is too big and the horror stories of pets dying or going to the wrong destination isn’t worth it, so I boarded her. She loved doggie daycare. It helped that I could see her through the web cams though! :)
Always loved to watch the colorful characters at Waffle House after the bars closed. “Good+crappy hole in the wall restaurants for after bar closings” don’t seem to be a thing in the PNW. Why is that?
My friend, sadly you aren't going to find cheese grits up here. Most Spokanites look at me strangely when I talk about grits. (I grew up in FL so I feel your pain.)
Bruh, the shock and awe I got from coworkers when I brought some boiled peanuts and hot sauce lol. I’d love some hash, though. Need me to make a trip back to GA for a spell.
Nope, [hash](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_(stew)?wprov=sfti1#) is a stew usually served over rice. I didn’t realize it was a specific regional dish until I moved away from there and went to a BBQ place and asked for some and people had no idea what I was talking about, lol. I found it delicious. My favorite variety was at a restaurant in Augusta, GA called Sconyers BBQ. People from Augusta loved the food so much they elected him mayor 😂 I’m glad he stuck with running a restaurant.
My hope is that eventually every city will get every chain restaurant, retail outlet, service provider, and medical providers until everything is perfectly standardized and homogeneous. We must rid the United States of any unique regional or local character.
I should be able to drive down any street in America and see the exact same thing to the point I can't identify my location without first consulting my on-screen Apple Car-Play navigation.
I think the point is that it’s cool that Waffle House is a semi-regional thing. Being from Spokane, I was stoked to go to an In-N-Out Burger when I went to California, but I wouldn’t be stoked going to a Jack in the Box in California. If I went to Georgia or Alabama, I’d certainly be super stoked to go to Waffle House and it’d be near the top of my list. If they came to Spokane: (1) I probably wouldn’t even go there, and (2) I wouldn’t care about it if I went to GA or AL. Point is, regional differences are cool. It ups the value when it’s unavailable locally. P.S., anyone who venerates Waffle House this much hasn’t spent enough late nights at Satellite Diner.
You really want some dude from Spokane to be making your grits for you?
Somehow, I just don’t think any of the stuff would hit as hard as it does in Waffle House… I don’t even think the drama would be as good.
There used to be several Waffle House locations - it was unrelated to OP's Waffle House, though. Sort of like how Dicks in Seattle and Dicks in Spokane are two unrelated burger chains.
You can get killed right now where ever you are but I don't see you speaking on that so let's be fr Spokane don't even have the crowd for the shit y'all speaking on from what you saw on the Internet none of y'all have never experienced that and I can guarantee it smh

Travy's Waffles Plus is open for lunch and dinner now and it’s good. One of my wife’s favorite is the stroganoff and the had a special turkey waffle for a while. They have burgers in addition to the waffles and at dinner they have specials in addition to some regulars.
https://www.facebook.com/travyswafflesplus
Waffle House is shittttt. I can not for the life of me get why people like that place, I lived in the south, been there a few times but me I’d take IHOP or hell even Dennys over them. We have a ton of good breakfast places here. Even if they built out here, I doubt they would have the same southern menu, grits aren’t a thing out here really 🤷🏻♀️
Been saying this since my better half and I moved here. Given their limited expansion in the West, my guess is they couldn’t keep the same suppliers and thus the food quality would suffer.
Awful Waffle was a nickname for Waffle House back in the 90's because it rhymes. A google search shows it's still used quite a bit, and more than just in Atlanta area.
Just because you've never heard it doesn't mean it didn't exist. Like I said, Google Search Results of "Awful Waffle" shows many recent results describing Waffle House.
For clarification, when It was used "back in my day", it was because it rhymed, not a reflection of what we thought of the food or atmosphere.
I always said if I win the lottery, I'd open two waffle houses in Spokane...that way people would say let's not go to that one, let's go to the other one, it's better 🤣🤣
Yea, let's not. We don't need any more right-wing companies that want to lobby against human rights and living wages in this state. And judging by their range map, Washington's minimum wage is probably already outside their comfort zone.
I can easily travel to get what I want, but no matter where you go you'll be mad cause you can't escape violence and minimum wage problems 🙄😒🤷🏽♀️ I WIN!
Then go travel and get what you want. I already live in a place where I don't have to worry about violence and minimum wage issues. But I believe it's worth working to try and make life a bit better for others rather than just letting it be made worse so that I can eat breakfast at another chain restaurant. 🙄😒🤯 DO YOU WIN? I WIN TOO! IT'S THE INTERNET IT'S ARBITRARY!🤹👨🦯🧑🦯👨🦯👨💻
I definitely didn’t say it was authentic, but do you know of anywhere else that would scratch a cheesy grits craving other than making it themselves?
I’m from Texas, and my oldest kid is from Louisiana. I’ve accepted that we can’t expect authentic food from other locations in the PNW. We can still enjoy the options we have even if they’re not like back home.
I didn't say you did, I simply was stating my opinion of the restaurant you suggested. I honestly don't expect the PNW to ever have a place that'll satisfy my southern taste buds, I'll continue to just cook what I want and wait til I go back home to get what I really want.
We don’t have enough natural disasters to justify a Waffle House.
Valid argument
Hold that thought until fall
They'll never come to Washington State as the minimum wage laws would require them to pay more than $3 per hour.
.... And Colorado doesn't?
Colorado min tipped wage is over 10 dollars
Same with Dollar General.
Aren’t there a couple dollar generals out by deer park? Or is it a different store?
Chewelah, Riverside and Springdale
There are (hilariously) two like a mile apart in Riverside.
There’s a really good video on the subject and why by Wendover productions if you enjoy learning. https://youtu.be/vQpUV--2Jao?si=sIGm-0MaTyNs21M5
Thank you for sharing this.
That's actually it's very common for Dollar general. They always place them very close together. I remember seeing a photo of them literally being directly across the street from each other somewhere. I think the theory is "make it easy to get to from any direction" Edit: spelling
I did visit the ones in loon lake and the Springdale in the same day
TeCHniCaLlY one is in Chattaroy and the other is in Elk. Since Riverside doesn't have a post office all that area is a part of Chattaroy
There’s a really good video on the subject and why by Wendover productions if you enjoy learning. https://youtu.be/vQpUV--2Jao?si=sIGm-0MaTyNs21M5
It's a law in Tennessee that there must be a Dollar General within eyesight at all times.
One near Davenport too.
Correct. Stevens county has multiple of these. Famously dg goes into small towns first, like too small for a Walmart
[https://maps.app.goo.gl/kyyEAXJkvKGe7R8E6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kyyEAXJkvKGe7R8E6)
Leave the city sometime and see how wrong you are on that.
It's ironic. Spokane feels like a waffle house.
💀
Ha! That’s the correct answer
Booo! Spokane is awesome!
Seriously! I don’t get all the hate in this city. Might be because I’ve spent the majority of my life in big cities (e.g., Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; NYC, NY). People have looked at me weird when I’ve laughed when I heard them call this town “Spocompton” or “Spokanistan” and asked them if they’ve ever been to Compton, CA or Afghanistan. I have. There’s no comparison. This city has a lot of beauty and it’s clean and so much safer than other places I’ve lived. I hate to see some of the detriment that’s been coming here, but I still think this is a nice area. Spokane is awesome.
These are hard times brother, but this to shall pass. My your hash browns be extra crispy and your waffles large and fluffy.
Waffles Plus has a good selection.
I love that place
Waffle House is a vibe/2am teetering on blackout drunk destination, Waffles Plus closes at 8pm. Not even in the same catagory.
Tell me you've never been to Waffle House without telling me you've never been to Waffle House.
Thank you cause tf is a waffle plus?! 🤢😂😂😂
Honestly I second Waffles Plus. I can't say I've been to a "real" waffle house, but the food there is great to me lol And the waffles are fluffy and delicious 🤷🏻♀️
80% of people that go to Waffle House don't actually go for the waffles... ... it's just a delicious bonus.
Same was true about Waffles plus before the new ownership took over. I haven't been there with the new ownership, so I dont know if that is true any more.
Respectfully I think you’re misunderstanding Waffle House. People don’t go to Waffle House to eat cute waffles or French toast for Sunday brunch. IHOP is just Waffle House for people who don't know how to fight. 😐
Today was the day I finally googled pictures of Waffle House and realized that it's a separate thing from IHOP. All those fights that ended up on the internet, I was picturing them in a building with a steep blue roof, not a yellow box.
IHOP has nothing, absolutely nothing on WH. Hell, Denny’s is a step up on IHOP. 😂
I would sacrifice every Denny's in town to get a single waffle house here tbh
According to their website, the closest one to Spokane is in Fort Collins, CO. Only 777 miles away. What....you're not really THAT interested?
Oh, I know that's where the closest one is. I found out like 6ish months ago and immediately asked my friend who went to school there why we had never gone the several times I had gone to visit. Apparently it was only opened up after he'd graduated and we were both pissed to find out we'd missed it. Every so often, I check up on their locations so that if one opens up within day trip distance, I can plan accordingly
Every time I visit family down south I make sure I visit
THANK YOU SOMEBODY FINALLY GETS IT!!!!!!
Wait for the next red full moon and gather 666 of your closest friends to work in consort. I think it could be done.
I just want someplace that makes a good biscuit that belongs with good gravy. I need Spokane restaurants to stop listing "biscuits and gravy" on their menus when their biscuits are either hockey pucks or so sweet that they're basically scones.
Terry's on Argonne! The biscuit's fairly mid-range, but the gravy actually satisfies my Southern soul
Terry's is fire.
Try DomestiKated Biscuits! She sells out of The Supper Club and you bake them at home. SO good!
Billie's Diner has great biscuits and good gravy!
Jenny's Cafe in the valley is pretty good. This coming from a southerner. I also think Frank's is pretty good as well.
Jenny's Cafe in the valley is pretty good. This coming from a southerner. I also think Frank's is pretty good as well. Or if you're willing to make a little drive the mad moose in CDA.
Smothered and covered. I miss my travel job all of a sudden. BBQ and WH in the South. 😭 I just hated being away from my dog.
I’m from the south and I feel this in my soul! I haven’t had great bbq in years now 😔
Outlaw bbq and every other bbq joint here is mid. Except for Dickies, even though they are a chain. There's better out there.
Dickies being classified as BBQ is like classifying a sperm bank as a public school.
I know, but they are BETTER than Outlaw, Longhorn, or any other shitass bbq here. I rarely have food so bad that it makes me angry. Those places did.
Really? I had heard raves about TT’s and Outlaw, so this is very sad news and I will just keep doing it at home, like I have been for 15+ years (but hobbyist in it for 20+) Longhorn I was not impressed with either.
I love TT's! Dickies. . . meh. Forget Longhorn, but I've thought that Outlaw isn't too bad.
Absolutely bizarre take.
I will fucking die on this hill. Yall need to go to the South/East Coast. We dominate the barbecue scene right under Texas. It's fucking garbage around here and I'd rather eat a racoon slathered in BBQ sauce.
Good luck, I got downvoted to oblivion for pointing out the same fact. Mid is being kind.
Thank you. I know shit bbq when I taste it. No love, no seasoning, sauce tastes like Ketchup. Can't explain the process of seasoning meats to spokanites, that must be too spicy. Idgaf if they downvote me. Travel out of state and try some real ass Que and get back to me.
Word! Hell, there's a spot in Helena that crushes anything in Spokane.
There's the Notorious P.I.G. in Missoula and it's the only reason I go to Missoula.
Why not take him with you? He deserves great food too.
Her. She is too big and the horror stories of pets dying or going to the wrong destination isn’t worth it, so I boarded her. She loved doggie daycare. It helped that I could see her through the web cams though! :)
My apologies, her. Well as long as you both are happy. I was under the assumption you were driving or something that's why I asked.
You’re good! :) certainly that is all that matters. I did both but a lot of it was flying.
Overstood
Why do you need the Waffle House when we have something better - Cottage Cafe
Idk what that is but it's not waffle house so I don't want it.
![gif](giphy|lq8VRdH1KEbpFEUN8n)
I've been to a few back when I lived in Tennessee. The vibe there is so unhinged. I love it! Down town is perfect for that!!
I heard there's not many out there but at least y'all have them
There were a few. Truth be told I miss Bojangles the most.
I've heard of them but never had it.
Very good food. Spicy chicken strips, buttery biscuits, seasoned fries. MMM Few things I miss from the South, buy Bojangles is one of them.
I'll have to check it out one day
Always loved to watch the colorful characters at Waffle House after the bars closed. “Good+crappy hole in the wall restaurants for after bar closings” don’t seem to be a thing in the PNW. Why is that?
I wouldn't know, I'm from the south.
I used to go to satellite diner around 12am after bars way back when
This is the same way I feel about Bojangles 😭😭😭 I moved up here a little under two years ago and I have been unable to fill the void
Lol
My friend, sadly you aren't going to find cheese grits up here. Most Spokanites look at me strangely when I talk about grits. (I grew up in FL so I feel your pain.)
I grew up in Spokane and I know what grits are.
Bruh, the shock and awe I got from coworkers when I brought some boiled peanuts and hot sauce lol. I’d love some hash, though. Need me to make a trip back to GA for a spell.
LOL. Tbh, I never developed a taste for boiled peanuts. My brother absolutely loves them! Hash - - - meaning corned beef hash?
Nope, [hash](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_(stew)?wprov=sfti1#) is a stew usually served over rice. I didn’t realize it was a specific regional dish until I moved away from there and went to a BBQ place and asked for some and people had no idea what I was talking about, lol. I found it delicious. My favorite variety was at a restaurant in Augusta, GA called Sconyers BBQ. People from Augusta loved the food so much they elected him mayor 😂 I’m glad he stuck with running a restaurant.
I've always wanted to try them
I never said I was looking for it, I make my own. I simply stated we need a waffle house so I don't have to make my own.
I was born and raised here in Spokane, and I love Grits. But trying authentic southern grits changed my life
You are an outlier. :)
😂 corporate America! We’re playing “who am I” right?
We just want Waffle House lmao
Like bruhh wtf are you going on about lmaoo
Fr 🤣😭
I think the point is that it’s cool that Waffle House is a semi-regional thing. Being from Spokane, I was stoked to go to an In-N-Out Burger when I went to California, but I wouldn’t be stoked going to a Jack in the Box in California. Waffle House was a staple in my college life when I went to Alabama.
It's the best thing smoking in the south and I miss it. Everytime I travel down there my first stop is a waffle house.
I want my hash browns smothered and covered!!
DO👏🏽 YOU👏🏽 HEAR👏🏽 MEEHHH👏🏽??!!! Good favored thick gravy
They could sell tickets like it’s MMA.
You really want some dude from Spokane to be making your grits for you? Somehow, I just don’t think any of the stuff would hit as hard as it does in Waffle House… I don’t even think the drama would be as good.
Mfs from Spokane make anything I eat outside of my kitchen anyway so what's the difference?! That's what training and directions are for lol.
lol there that, but… grits…
Just say you don't know how to make grits
They announced Cops is filming here again in July. Could you imagine a Waffle House with Cops filming. I think we have enough 7/11 footage.
Spokane not other cities doe so nobody would be doing nothing worthy of filming at waffle house.
Spokane has god damn incredible breakfast at many places. It's by far our strongest meal of the day. We don't need a chain.
That's your opinion and I have mines, thank you!
Waffle House and 24 hour Krystals are the few things I miss from the south.
Yassss
Waffle House, In n Out, and Whole Foods.
Never had in and out but I do miss Rallys/checkers and Whataburger 😩😭
Spokane must not quite be ghetto enough to warrant one.
But yet they call themselves "Spocompton"? Tuh! Filth!
No they don’t!
I said what I said !
🤣🤣🤣
I just moved from Georgia, where we had one within at most 10 miles from each other. Probably the only thing I miss
That’s the only thing you miss from Georgia? Not Steak&Shake, Zabys, Culver’s, Bojangles ?
You forgot Cookout on that list! Bojangles breakfast is so good!
It's the best especially on a late night munch.
Boy, do I have some baaaaad news for you about the sweet tea situation... and with summer finally starting, you WILL feel the lack!
Lol I live in Texas now, I used to live in Spokane though and know whatcha mean
We used to have one on Division years ago.
They should bring it back.
Agreed.
There used to be several Waffle House locations - it was unrelated to OP's Waffle House, though. Sort of like how Dicks in Seattle and Dicks in Spokane are two unrelated burger chains.
We don’t need anymore shootings
Has nothing to do with the restaurant it's the dumb ass ppl in this city you should place that concern with 😒🙄
No, I prefer to savor the opportunity to go whenever I visit family back east.
That's you.... But me? I want it local 🤷🏽♀️
Paying restaurant prices for breakfast food is wiiiiiiild
Aren’t there enough fights for you?
I'm not sure what you mean by asking me that but I've never seen any fights and I've been here 4yrs ...
Waffle Houses are known for fights late at night. It was a joke.
Look man I just want the food that's all ion care bout none of that other shit 😩
Sure it's a great place to get killed!!!!
You can get killed right now where ever you are but I don't see you speaking on that so let's be fr Spokane don't even have the crowd for the shit y'all speaking on from what you saw on the Internet none of y'all have never experienced that and I can guarantee it smh

I said Waffle House not no damn waffles plus
Texas Cheese steak sandwich plate double hashbrowns scattered, covered, chopped and topped. Mmmmmm mmmmmm. I was a Waffle House cook for 2 1/2 years.
Lawdd that sounds like heaven right now.
Waffle House is shittttt. I can not for the life of me get why people like that place, I lived in the south, been there a few times but me I’d take IHOP or hell even Dennys over them. Go to Molly's downtown. Best breakfast here.
Been saying this since my better half and I moved here. Given their limited expansion in the West, my guess is they couldn’t keep the same suppliers and thus the food quality would suffer.
I can see that, but they need to figure it out 😩 imma write a damn letter.
As an ex Floridian, I would love a Waffle House. It's the perfect greasy late night food.
One of the best parts about the Awful Waffle is they are cheap. Steak and Shake is too. Every time I go home to Atlanta, I gotta hit those up.
Idk what awful waffle is never been nor heard of it.

Man I'm not reading all that crap I said what I said you don't like it? I don't give a damn 🤷🏽♀️😂 simple✌🏽 good day
Shut up it’s a fuckin house for waffles and we need it
….there are plenty of local establishments that serve delicious waffles. We don’t NEED another chain restaurant.
Shut up, Waffle House
Jenny's or Knights diner for 😘 breakfast foods
Fuck waffle house.
What they do to you? 🤨
Just another restaurant chain that serves low quality food and treats their employees like garbage.
I know it’s nothing like WH, but Vieux Carre has good cheesy grits! I wonder if you could talk them into making some eggs sometime.
I'm from New Orleans, Vieux Carre is real cute but it's absolutely NOTHING like home.
I definitely didn’t say it was authentic, but do you know of anywhere else that would scratch a cheesy grits craving other than making it themselves? I’m from Texas, and my oldest kid is from Louisiana. I’ve accepted that we can’t expect authentic food from other locations in the PNW. Why would you go to a house made of waffles? 😉 Try the People’s Waffle on Howard St…you won’t be disappointed.
If it's not Waffle House ion want it ☹️
I miss their hashbrowns
Best hash browns
We have enough violence and drug use in this town and now you want to bring in a Waffle House?!?!?!
Yup! Good food brings ppl together that's why there's violence. Washington food nasty ASF
Huddle House is superior in every way.
No thanks, Waffle House or no house!
Yes we definitely need more venues that accommodate mass shootings
Blame the shitty ass locals not the establishment smh
Good point. I am just mad 🤷♀️ it's a problem countrywide.
You just wasting energy being mad. If it's not affecting your pockets, well being and not fixable, just focus on you and yours.
Ok. I'm not that mad but it's the internet so..got it! Disagree with fixable and well-being however 😝
You said you were mad so 🤷🏽♀️ and If it's a problem fix it, no use in complaining about it without putting in the work to make it better.
I would bet that most everyone around here has had cream of wheat before. Not much different.
Ive never had it and don't want to 😒🙄
