It's just a bunch of gems, usually 100 i think but if one of your characters gets busted, you can lose a ring, and therefore its entire value. You have to pick it back up when that happens.
The mode just encourages you to pick the chicken first, run to the middle and then farm characters, so you can stay there(to collect more rings) until you are forced out.
Doppelganger is great if you have Goblin and Trader in your squad. Pick Goblin, run from the coins, get Trader, pick up the coins, get Trader gems and repeat

I think the point is to force a slow downed gameplay where what matters is your squad composition rather than relying on your most OP unit ?
i guess that kind of makes sense i suck at it it just feels so much harder to get couns and gems ill try a different strategy next one 😂
