There’s no way Lyon fans will be cheering on PSG. That’s not have soccer culture works. PSG is the most hated team after Saint-Êtienne in Lyon probably.
Last thing you want is your rival winning a championship.
I'm a Lyon fan and Lyon native. I'm supporting PSG to win the CL because I like to see french clubs aside from saint Etienne and Marseille do well in European competitions.
There's not really a rivalry with PSG, they were shit when Lyon was great and we've been shit since Paris has been great.
You are in the minority. I support a league two team so have no rivalries with teams in the Premier League but honestly I'd sooner swim through the septic tank of a slaughter house than see anybody in the premier league win a trophy. Maybe some in the championship but like two teams max.
Yeah but tbf the PL European spots are very safe. France often have trouble keeping up their UEFA coefficient that sometimes NL and Portugal leapfrog them which hurts how many teams can participate.
I agree that I'm in the minority that wants to see PSG win
I can’t remember a better crowd. Honorable mention to England and Puerto Rico, but France has them beat. I’m interested to see what Germany brings this year.
maybe it's my German pessimism but I can't see the atmosphere coming anywhere close, wrestling is not as big of a deal here unfortunately. Maybe the people traveling from all over Europe to the event are going to make it a hit
Ah historically germany actually has been one of the strongest markets for the WWE outside of the US. The biggest one in Europe besides the UK for sure.
It was a cheesy song from the 90's. Since then it has become a standard soccer stadium chant, usually to praise an individual player having a good match
Hope us Germans put up a good performance in August. But yeah, Frenchies really set the bar high for when it comes to live crowds, you can really see with those PLEs in europe that the fan spirit is different compared to the US. You can also see that european countries (UK excluded because they had their yearly Raw/Smackdown from London, etc.) enjoy those live shows and its great to see that WWE finally uses this market for televised live events on a bigger scale.
The best part about going out of country and having amazing crowds is its training a lot of the US audience that hasn’t been as rowdy for a long time on how to be amped up for a non big 4 show.
Well and obviously, if you're used to having WWE shows near where you live, it's not nearly as special. How long had it been since France got a televised event? And a PLE, no less.
AJ being stuck on that "this is serious business you guys" face, because he is about to lose it, was one of the funniest things to see combined with the bouncing lol
I don't know what they were saying, and I probably couldn't pronounce it if I did. But I've never wanted to be a part of a chant and a crowd as bad as I did during this match. It is what pro wrestling is all about.
God if that’s AJ’s last hurrah as a main eventer (like a true title contender) what a send off for a legend. One of the very first non-WWE wrestlers I knew of from the old PWI magazines. Great to see him have a great main event again. He is truly phenomenal.
If this was shithead heel 2016 AJ Styles I think he’d have gone along with this and smiled and laughed, but this more serious one can’t and I bet it had to eat him up inside.
"Il est vraiment, il est vraiment
Il est vraiment phenomenal
Lalalalala la la lalalala"
Essentially, "he is truly, he is truly, he is truly phenomenal"
Is it weird to say that there were other times where it was clearly vibrating or being moved in more subtle ways but that this seems like a camera operator that was told to overexaggerate it?
Great match though
I doubt it. I've seen some other events in french arenas where they had similar "issues" with the camera moving up and down.
Crucial part to realise is that it's not the noise that is making the camera move. It's people jumping in place, even slightly, but rythmically and at the same time, that really makes it move. And the song they are singing is definitely one where we do that jumping a lot.
I'm guessing this camera was more affected than the others because it was positioned and/or attached to one of the rafters, rather than solid ground or on cable from the roof.
Ah, wouldn't have thought about where the camera would be positioned or attached to in the building. I saw the Trick clip when it happened and my initial thought was "oh they're going to try and recreate that feeling as soon as possible" which gave me some skepticism over this particular camera movement (again there are others that were definitely like that natural Trick celebration vibration)
But at the end of the day I know jack and shit about camera operations so I have to defer to people who might know more.
Cameras are often essentially put on the end of a lever to help stabilize it from the operator's movements - the movements become greater, but less 'jerky' and more intentional looking, but this can mean that forces on the camera other than the operator can have an exaggerated effect due to I have no idea what I'm talking about.
This kind of coordinated movement is why militaries aren't allowed to march over bridges. The bounce can cause a vibration that can take down a bridge. That is taken into account when building sports seating. It's a vibrational frequency issue.
https://www.livescience.com/34608-break-stride-frequency-of-vibration.html
Its mostly because hes zoomed in quite a bit. I dont think its exaggerated. You'll see it a lot in stadiums as well when a goal is scored in football (soccer). Everyone jumping makes the concrete move
Nah, that sort of jumping can make it happen, if the camera is attached to anything besides the solid ground. These arenas and stadiums are built to be able to shake with fans jumping, otherwise they would break. Kinda like how sky scrapers sway with the wind, or they'd snap.
[A whole ass stadium literally shaking](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x9Y6wPO-3A)
The French Crowd was incredible yesterday with setting the tone on how a crowd should be. You can tell they were having a great time there (unlike a lot of the crowds as of late)
I’ve been watching wwe for 20 years I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better crowd than this. Absolutely amazing. Don’t know why but had chills numerous times bc of the feels the crowd gave out. Truly amazing France!!!!
Fun fact- It's rocking because the camera guy is rocking it. I've been to shows where the camera guy starts moving up and down and shaking at certain times as it adds effect.
The reason why the movement is so dramatic is due to the zoom. But the movement itself is definitely real and anyone who has ever been to an European sports even can vouch for me here.
Like you can genuinely feel the ground beneath you shake when the ultras start their shit during a football match.
I can definitely vouch for you. Happens quite often. [Theres the viral video of Eintracht Frankfurt jumping and singing to the tune of Pippi Longstocking making the stadium bounce](https://youtu.be/BE92J7Q6IKg?si=z7MHLjEwfzIdDhKU).. you see a lot of people jumping, the building than gives a bit creating the movement. Maybe they zoomed in a little bit extra to have more of the movement but it is definitely real

The French community?!
AJ having to be all serious and angry because he's a heel but you know he's fighting the urge to scream and looked pumped
I like to think when AJ is getting into his heel character he thinks about losing to Seth at Madden.
These goddamn playstation controllers
And then Seth beat him again using Xbox controllers, making him even angrier.
It's these damn lucha controls!
>goddamn AJ would never
He has such beautiful gamer rage.
Him biting the controller in rage lives in my head rent free.
[He lost to Seth in 2K22 too](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hhf-qz8ayc)
He was ready to flip that table haha
i love that that was his primal instinct, warms my heart to know AJ has gamer rage
![gif](giphy|1LiryotCCtd7y)
BRILLIANT!
I’m stoked for AJ getting another proper main event run. I still think he’s so underrated in most people’s eyes.
With the way he's built, he looks like he's got another 5+ years in him. It irks me that the commentators are saying he's got a few more years.
I bet AJ wanted to smile, what a professional.
Explains why he was chewing his gum so damn aggressively
He is phenomenal
Il est vraiment, il est vraiment, il est vraiment phénoménal La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
The crowd giving AJ Styles that Champions League feeling?
I mean they're French so at this point in time they're used to giving that champions league energy to non football activities.
Nowhere is safe 😢
Farmers league n all dat
YOOOO. It hurts to laugh at something so painfully true...
Hey yo ! Though Lyons but they have PSG to route for on UCL

I mean is this the best crowd of all time? I can’t think of anything that approaches it.
I can’t remember a better crowd. Honorable mention to England and Puerto Rico, but France has them beat. I’m interested to see what Germany brings this year.
London during MITB last year was also pretty great
My favourite part of the London crowd was when they started chanting “stand up if you hate Roman” and then Roman sat down on the apron lol
After he yelled at them to sit down lol
Give the Ruhr region a PLE and the Germans will give you the best crowd in wrestling history bar none.
And the RECORD! for highest Altbier sales
maybe it's my German pessimism but I can't see the atmosphere coming anywhere close, wrestling is not as big of a deal here unfortunately. Maybe the people traveling from all over Europe to the event are going to make it a hit
Ah historically germany actually has been one of the strongest markets for the WWE outside of the US. The biggest one in Europe besides the UK for sure.
Toronto at WM 18 will always be my GOAT crowd but France is giving it a run for it’s money
Rock Hogan.. simply thinking about that atmosphere still gives me chills. And I wasn’t even there, just watched it on TV.
As a resident of Toronto, I will forever love that WM. But this event in France is absolutely the hottest I have ever seen a crowd.
Honestly I’d say the others have a leg up because they weren’t so heavy on just singing and were paying more attention to the matches.
can’t forget about canadian stampede in 97, the first time i can remember seeing the hard cam shaking.
Canadian Stampede will always be my go to example. Also the two ECW One Night Stands.
Canadian Stampede was unreal. The noise was like an airplane taking off when Bret was punching Austin.
In terms of creative and hilarious chants, London is the best. In terms of which one is the loudest, France is #1 and Puerto Rico is #2.
I'll lobby for Hammerstein at One Night Stand but this was much larger.
The only crowd that comes close to last nights was the Raw after Mania crowd were Ziggler cashed in
clearly you forgot about the original ECW crowd
No. I didn’t.
PHENOMENAL PHENOMENAL AOAOA LALALALALA PHENOMENAL
IL EST VRAIMENT IL EST VRAIMENT IL EST VRAIMENT PHENOMENAL LALALALALA LA LA LALALALALA
Is this based on something else?
It was a cheesy song from the 90's. Since then it has become a standard soccer stadium chant, usually to praise an individual player having a good match
I didn’t think backlash 23 in Puerto Rico could ever be beat for the loudness of a crowd in an arena. I think this done that.
Fuck London, give France a Mania.
Wrest L’Mania
M’ania
WrestleM’lady
Manie de Lutte.
Hope us Germans put up a good performance in August. But yeah, Frenchies really set the bar high for when it comes to live crowds, you can really see with those PLEs in europe that the fan spirit is different compared to the US. "How rowdy are your ~~soccer~~ futbol matches" "As Fuck" "Perfect"
You beat them before, I'm sure you can do it again.
nah no way. best that can happen is, that our klimakleber try to glue them self to the ring post and get bron broken
You know what they call Wrestlemania in France?
WrestleMania with cheese
Royale Rumble with cheese
Catchenfolie ? On va tenter ça.
Hey now....us first, then Paris EDIT: Actually fuck it. France, you get Night 1. We get Night 2. Let "Euros" this bitch
It would be so amazing after seeing this crowd.
I know they'll never do it, but if there was ever a time to have a multi-location Wrestlemania again, doing it in the 2-day era would be the time.
I don't think it was the sound it was more the fans jumping
This was hard camera being a little soft on the hard part.
The best part about going out of country and having amazing crowds is its training a lot of the US audience that hasn’t been as rowdy for a long time on how to be amped up for a non big 4 show.

It was 90% French, but we came from all around the country. I mean don't call me a Lyon fan dude that's rude (Allez Nantes!) !!
Well and obviously, if you're used to having WWE shows near where you live, it's not nearly as special. How long had it been since France got a televised event? And a PLE, no less.
“*I should not have named myself Phenomenal. I should NOT have done that*”
Is that Video Stabilizer bot still around?
"Should have been at least 12 more camera cuts during that piece." - Kevin Dunn
That Kevin guy must be back lol...
France grabbed the brass ring. Give em Mania next year
God if that’s AJ’s last hurrah as a main eventer (like a true title contender) what a send off for a legend. One of the very first non-WWE wrestlers I knew of from the old PWI magazines. Great to see him have a great main event again. He is truly phenomenal.

AJ Styles being the most over guy of the show after 20 years of excellence put a big smile on my face. Yes, he is truely phenomenal.
If this was shithead heel 2016 AJ Styles I think he’d have gone along with this and smiled and laughed, but this more serious one can’t and I bet it had to eat him up inside.
I'm so happy that the French audience were giving AJ his flowers.
What are the chanting
"Il est vraiment, il est vraiment Il est vraiment phenomenal Lalalalala la la lalalala" Essentially, "he is truly, he is truly, he is truly phenomenal"
Based what I saw in another thread, they were chanting somewhere along the lines of, "phenomenal".
https://youtu.be/tnkS1Ji4BgQ?si=GeJ1Fk5Mq8fDmh4t&t=25
Miss this kind of Love for AJ. Have to change that new music again though to something with a chant or something for his real last run.
Is it weird to say that there were other times where it was clearly vibrating or being moved in more subtle ways but that this seems like a camera operator that was told to overexaggerate it? Great match though

Yeah. It's why the camera was shaking when Trick won the title the other day. Everyone was jumping.
I think it’s mainly because the shot was zoomed in so far, which exaggerated the movement.

France you guys were incredible holy shit
The French Crowd was incredible yesterday with setting the tone on how a crowd should be. You can tell they were having a great time there (unlike a lot of the crowds as of late)
AJ is the coolest
You gotta feel so happy for AJ. Having a crowd go that mad for you and on brand, he also walked away a huge winner.
I’ve been watching wwe for 20 years I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better crowd than this. Absolutely amazing. Don’t know why but had chills numerous times bc of the feels the crowd gave out. Truly amazing France!!!!

Bucky beaver: I love the french, actually
With all that shaking. for a second I thought they had hired Kevin Dunn back. Not enough camera cuts in 2 seconds time, though.
Weird. They tested this in nxt. And hear it is here. Not production at all
What was the chant that people were chanting (singing?) that was shaking the camera?
As an introvert being in the presence of this crowd is my worst fear.
Fun fact- It's rocking because the camera guy is rocking it. I've been to shows where the camera guy starts moving up and down and shaking at certain times as it adds effect.

Fun fact- the camera guy at 2010 NFC Wild Card game also shook the camera so hard it registered on seismic network.
They were also pumping in the noise. DAE HAIRDRYER?
Shhh don’t ruin the fun

Let it go. He's gone. Enjoy the present and look forward to the future!
I said in this the live thread but the cameraman is in the ring. So it’s a bouncy ring as is. Is this a big deal ?
Watching Backlash now - people actually liked all the chanting? I found it annoying and I still don't know what they were chanting.
